Episode 286: The Hero, the Sword Saint, and the Appraiser 27
“Appraisal: The Location of Maria Shriden.”
““…Huh?””
Dirk-san and Filia-san simultaneously voiced their confusion.
Well, that’s to be expected. I’ve seen this kind of reaction so often that it doesn’t faze me anymore. Ignoring their bewilderment, I waited for the Appraisal results.
“…….Looks like Maria is in a city called Rosalind. Is that the capital of the Rodgrul Kingdom?”
“….…”
“Um, Dirk-san?”
“…Huh? Ah, yes, that’s correct.”
“Mihiro-kun, can you find out where Kaminuki-kun and the others are too?”
“Give me a moment, Sensei.”
I checked my mana level. ………It should be fine to use the skill one more time without running out.
Assuming the others were likely in the same location, I decided to Appraise the whereabouts of the student council president next.
“Appraisal: The Location of Kaminuki Kouya.”
Once again, Dirk-san and Filia-san gave me the same confused look. It was as if they couldn’t understand what I was doing.
“…Yep, the student council president is in Rosalind too. The others are probably there as well.”
“I see. Thank you, Mihiro-kun.”
“Wait a minute! …Maki, are you saying you found Maria and the others’ location through Appraisal?”
“That’s correct.”
“…So, yours is one of those professions bearing the divine name?”
Ah, it seems the Rodgrul Kingdom is aware of professions with divine names.
……..…If that’s the case, why wasn’t it known in the Shriden Kingdom? Or did they know and still exile me without properly verifying my profession?
If that’s the case, Gozef Shriden must truly be astonishingly foolish.
“…That’s right.”
“I see. In that case, it makes sense why Maria Shriden would keep unknown individuals—in this case, people from another world—by her side.”
“What do you mean?”
Dirk-san’s explanation was almost identical to what I’d heard from Akagi back in Granzawall.
Maria keeps the otherworlders close, expecting that one of them might awaken to their latent power at some point. She’s simply waiting for that moment.
In reality, only the student council president has awakened. But there’s no way Dirk-san and the others could know that.
“—If that’s the case, we should rescue them soon. The student council president and the others’ lives might be in danger.”
“I doubt they’d kill them so easily, even if they’re no longer needed. I watched the battle near the capital from the outer wall. And that person’s attack was terrifyingly powerful.”
“That person?”
“A young swordsman with black hair. His sword of light extended to pierce the heavens and then descended. Had I been in its direct path, I wouldn’t be here to tell the tale.”
…A sword of light that pierces the heavens?
Only someone with a special-class profession could pull off something that extraordinary. That means it has to be the student council president.
It wasn’t just me who thought so. Both Arata and Sensei lowered their heads slightly in contemplation.
“…Thank goodness you’re safe.”
“I also heard that there were four other powerful individuals with him. They must be otherworlders too.”
“Four? …Oh, right. That must’ve been when Akagi was still part of Maria’s army.”
Excluding the student council president, there were three others: Domon Chikara, Watanabe Shinobu, and Oda Haruki.
…Hmm, honestly, I can’t recall their faces at all. I never interacted with them.
“Arata, do you remember what the other three looked like?”
“I do, but… Mihiro, did you seriously forget?”
“Yeah, I never interacted with them, so…”
“You’re unbelievable.”
He looked completely exasperated.
Well, worst-case scenario, I can rely on my Appraisal skill. So forgetting their faces isn’t a big deal… probably?
“They might actually be stronger than you.”
“There might be some level difference, but it should be fine.”
“You sound confident. Does it have something to do with those magic tools from earlier?”
“No, it doesn’t. It’s just—sheer skill.”
Arata has a special-class profession, and Sensei’s level and abilities are far beyond ours. They can probably match anyone on equal terms.
When it comes to equipment, though, we have the upper hand. We’re armed with gear crafted from materials harvested in the Forest of Demons.
There’s no way I plan on losing easily.
“I see. Well, with skills like that, I can’t really argue.”
Dirk-san gave a sly smile at the end, though I wasn’t sure what he meant by it. With that, our discussion came to a close.
“It’s already late. Stay here tonight.”
“Are you sure?”
“After all the food you provided, we didn’t even have much information to offer in return. The least we can do is this.”
Although I could’ve gotten the information myself with my Appraisal skill, it saved me a lot of unnecessary fatigue. So I was grateful.
That being said, there was no reason to refuse since they were kindly offering us a place to sleep.
“Well then, we’ll take you up on your offer.”
“You’ve been a great help this time. Thank you.”
With Dirk-san expressing his gratitude once again, we all parted ways for the night.
