I'm Being Threatened by My Sister's Ex-girlfriend. (GL) - Chapter 29
As if lamenting the dusk, the oil cicadas were singing.
It was a suburban house that seemed to have seen its fair share of years. A metal nameplate beside the door bore the engraving “HAKUTO.” In stark contrast to its strong-willed inhabitants, it had an appearance that could only be described as ordinary.
There was no response to the doorbell. Whether they were unaware or simply ignoring it was unclear.
Either way, it didn’t matter. I used the key and opened the door.
The entrance was spacious yet dimly lit. Only two pairs of shoes were placed on the earthen floor, both of which I recognized.
I peeked into the empty living room. A kitchen with a counter facing the living area and a television that looked to be at least 70 inches. A soft-looking sofa and a glass coffee table.
I thought it resembled a model home, so devoid of any warmth of life that it felt chilling.
I knew the location of the room I was aiming for from Serizawa. I climbed the stairs to the room at the very front. The evening sun streamed in through the hallway’s light window, casting a crimson glow on the flooring.
Standing before the door, I took a deep breath.
What seemed like an unremarkable door felt incredibly heavy.
“Hakobe.”
There was no reply.
Only the sound of something moving within the room reached my ears.
“Hakobe, I’m coming in.”
I placed my hand on the doorknob. As I tried to pull it down, it stuck. The door was locked.
There was no keyhole, and the only option was to have someone open it from the inside.
I sat down in the hallway, leaning my back against the door. Quite literally, I settled in. I was prepared for a long wait.
“I won’t move from here until you open up.”
How many minutes had passed? I felt the wooden door shift against my back, a sensation of being pushed back. A muffled voice came through the door.
“…What do you want?”
The voice was laced with thorns. It was only natural. I had fled in fear back then.
But now was different.
I had to prove that it was different. To Hakobe. And to Shinonome Tsuguno.
“I’ll say this first, it’s pointless.”
“Pointless? What do you mean?”
“You’re going to tell me to give up on Ichika, right? A one-sided love that you know won’t bear fruit is futile and meaningless, isn’t it?”
“Yeah, that’s true. It is indeed futile.”
“I knew it.”
The voice from beyond the door was tinged with moisture. I could hear intermittent, sob-like gasps.
“I know. I understand that. Of course, I do. Love can’t be done alone, that’s obvious.”
“Hakobe.”
“But I like her. I want to go on dates after school, I want to touch her hand, I want to read the same book, I want to share weird-flavored drinks, I want to kiss her, I want to touch her br3asts, I want to walk along the spring sea together, I want to have s3x. I’m saving the hair of a senior I picked up in a Ziploc bag, I’m printing out photos I took on my phone to make a mini album, and I’m using that to do it alone at least once a week. Is that disgusting? Yeah, I know it is. But—”
I heard the sound of her sniffling.
“I like her…”
Wow. Disgust surged within me first. I was taken aback. As always, this girl was repulsive. Heavy, perverse, driven by lust, with a personality that seemed like it would mix nails into Valentine’s chocolates.
But.
But surely, everyone is like that. You can’t love without being a little crazy. That boy in the movie who loved his zombie girlfriend must have wanted to embrace her decaying body.
It’s insane.
But that’s precisely what love is.
In some scene beyond the end credits, the boy might regain his sanity. Or he might remain that way for the rest of his life.
In any case, the journey until then is what love is.
“Just stay as you are.”
I said.
“Stay as you are. I won’t tell you to forget about Ichika. It’s okay to keep liking her.”
That’s right. There’s no need to force yourself to forget. Because that’s my job.
I decided that I would use all of me, Shinonome Tsuguno, to make her forget.
Not for Hakobe, but for myself. For Shinonome Tsuguno to move forward.
“I’ll correct what I said that night. Someday, I’ll help you forget. Until that day, I’ll wander through the wilderness with you.”
After a moment of silence, the door swung open with force. It opened inward. I lost my balance and fell onto the flooring, the impact forcing the air from my lungs.
Gritting my teeth against the pain, I opened my eyes.
My vision was filled with an upside-down Hakobe. She was wearing her high school uniform. It seemed she had been attending school properly. I thought that was admirable, especially with her eyes so red.
Tears glistened in her pale eyes as she looked down at me.
They were moist and sparkling.
Tentatively, I used the back of my finger to wipe the corners of her eyes. A transparent droplet ran down my finger. When I licked it, it had a faint salty taste.
I could tell Hakobe had swallowed her saliva.
“…You can’t take back what you just said.”
“That’s fine. I might regret it, but it’s not a lie.”
“You’re saying you’ll stay in love with your senpai while dating me, right?”
“That’s okay. For now, at least.”
“I’m a heavy girl, you know.”
“I know.”
I knew a bit more than that now.
I wanted to know even more.
With our faces still upside down, she drew closer. Our lips touched. It was just a brief kiss, yet it sent a heat through me like something simmering in a cauldron of hell.
Her faded indigo hair cascaded down, brushing against my cheek.
A prickling sensation burned from my neck to my collarbone. Hakobe’s eyes emitted a laser-like gaze.
Her eyes, glistening with excitement.
There was still no love or affection there. Just a wild, immature, beast-like desire that raged within her.
And that was fine, I thought. For now, that was enough. Just that.
If she could love the contours of my cheeks, the shape of my nose, the position of my eyes, the swell of my br3asts, the height of my waist, the curve of my hips, and the ratio of my legs, that would be enough.
If she could love just this flesh, bone, and DNA.
Everything beyond that would come later.
“W-well, my sexual desire is strong, too.”
“I know that too.”
I heard the sound of breath that wasn’t my own, panting. Shallow and feverish, like a hungry stray dog. Hakobe was desperately trying to maintain a distance of thirty centimeters and her rationality. It was almost pitiable.
I heard the sound of her swallowing again.
“Um, today. My parents aren’t home. So—this is my sister’s spare key, right? So, for the next three hours, absolutely no one will come home.”
“…And?”
“Don’t you understand?”
Her voice was suffused with a tightness that made my chest ache. It was a voice that tangled with my ears, emanating from something other than my brain.
Her eagerness stirred a sadistic impulse within me.
“Say it clearly. If you do, I’ll listen to your orders.”
I caressed Hakobe’s cheek, using my fingertips to make it as sensual as possible.
Though I didn’t truly know anything, I pretended to be mature and said,
“I’ll let you do everything you wanted to do with Ichika.”
So please, fall in love with me.
Fall in love with Shinonome Tsuguno.
Tears dripped from Hakobe’s eyes.
They touched me, sliding down my cheek like a caress.
“I’m sorry.”
“What for?”
“I don’t think I can do it well. It’s my first time.”
“Me too.”
“…But I’ll do my best.”
“P-please be gentle.”
“That might be a bit difficult…”
Hakobe’s fingers deftly unbuttoned the top button of her summer dress. Her urgent fingertips brushed past my collarbone, slipping beneath my bra and roughly rubbing against the peak of my br3asts.
“That hurts, you idiot.”
In the distance, the sound of oil cicadas echoed.
Summer wasn’t over yet. It wouldn’t end. Everything was supposed to be just beginning.
