- Episode 53 - Just A Little More
“Oh, right. How about some shaved ice?”
After playing in the sea for about an hour and getting tired, Nagisa said as they climbed up onto the sandy beach.
There are many beach houses nearby, selling things like shaved ice and yakisoba.
“Nice”
Kusakabe immediately agrees. As for me, I don’t have any particular objections either.
The shaved ice at beach houses or festivals isn’t really that delicious, but I can’t help but want to eat it.
“Alright, I’ll go buy it with Momoka, so Kusakabe, please wait here.”
“I want to go with Momoka-chan.”
“Leaving a girl alone is dangerous, you know.”
When Nagisa spoke triumphantly, Kusakabe reluctantly nodded.
The beach is fairly crowded. I managed to secure a spot by laying down a leisure sheet, but if I leave it even for a moment, someone will probably take it.
It’s not surprising that Kusakabe stays behind to watch the luggage, given that there is luggage to take care of.
“Let’s go, Momoka.”
“Yeah. Oh, Yuki-kun, what flavor of shaved ice do you want?”
“Momoka-chan’s recommendation is fine.”
“What is that? … Is melon okay?”
Kusakabe widened his eyes for a moment and nodded with a broad smile.
“As expected of you, Momoka-chan! You really know my taste well.”
Is that so? Now that you mention it, maybe it is.
I thought I was just saying it casually, but now that I think about it, it seems like Kusakabe always had melon flavor when eating shaved ice.
I heard it from Nagisa.
“Momoka, let’s go.”
In a sulky voice, Nagisa pulled me along.
♡
“Isn’t Momoka unusually knowledgeable about Kusakabe’s preferences?”
“Really?”
“Absolutely.”
I can’t say it’s because I’m listening to the future’s shore.
In this timeline, I have no intention of creating such a future.
“That kind of thing really annoys me.”
Sighing exaggeratedly, Nagisa let out a “Haa.”
At that moment, when I was about to say something.
“Hey, you two?”
“We’re also a pair, so if you’d like, why don’t we hang out together?”
Flamboyant guys approached me. It was clearly a pickup.
I glance at Nagisa. Nagisa had a tense expression on her face.
Yeah, that’s true. You probably weren’t very used to it back in high school.
As an adult, Nagisa was also good at handling pick-up lines. Or rather, she didn’t pay any attention to them at all.
Even I was flustered when I was still getting used to it, but I’m fine now.
“Let’s go.”
Ignoring the men, I take Nagisa’s hand and walk. Usually, this makes many of them give up, but this time it was different.
Annoyingly, they stood in our path and obstructed our walking.
“Isn’t ignoring someone really cruel?”
“We’re on a date right now.”
With a sharp “snap,” I grabbed Nagisa’s hand and ran. If we ran with enough momentum, they wouldn’t be able to catch up.
I ran up to the shaved ice shop and lined up. As I was catching my breath, which had gotten ragged from running, Nagisa looked at me.
“Are we on a date? Us?”
“Which side do you think Nagisa is on?”
“Isn’t that a bit sly of you to ask?”
As she spoke, Nagisa intertwined her fingers with mine. It’s what they call a lover’s hold.
“Those people just now came over because Momoka is cute.”
“It might be because of Nagisa, you know.”
“They were looking at Momoka with lewd eyes.”
Nagisa lets out a soft sigh. Even though there are many people around us, when we are being stared at, it feels as if there is no one else but us. Why is that?
“Hey, Momoka”
“What?”
“Kiss me. Right here, right now.”
“Huh?”
This is a popular beach, and on top of that, it’s in front of a beach house. Moreover, I’m in line for shaved ice.
Even if there are couples holding hands, there isn’t anyone kissing.
What are you thinking?
“Is it no good? Even though I’m asking so much.”
“Hey,” Nagisa looked at me with a tearful expression.
I hear a squelching sound as my sanity seems to crumble. But surely, no. Not yet. Not yet.
Before my reason breaks down, Nagisa’s reason has to break down first; otherwise, it won’t work.
“Where there are no people.”
Pathetically, my voice was trembling.
Just a little more.
I feel like I’m really almost there. But there’s still something missing.
“Momoka’s idiot”
Nagisa muttered in a sulky voice. When I pretended not to hear, the grip on my hand tightened.
Hey, Nagisa.
Just one word, that’s all I need.
Let’s become lovers.
Just that alone, I could really listen to everything Nagisa says.
