- Chapter 28 - Occupation and Dungeon Privatization

The occupation [Beast Tamer] had been added, and it was already at max level! The title Tamer of the Wicked, the MAX-level reward for Beast Tamers, apparently strengthens my subordinates and buffs my skills.
I wasn’t sure if this reward was exclusive to the first person to obtain an occupation or if it was because I tamed a sub-god, but either way, there didn’t seem to be any significant occupation-specific bonuses.
Well, technically, my base stats had increased drastically thanks to the Sub-god Dragon’s Blessing, and it seemed that Beast Tamers grew stronger as they acquired more subordinates.
The newly acquired skill Tame Beast allows me to turn any monster into a subordinate. Other skills, like Subjugation Blessing, appear to enhance loyalty and power based on the subordinate’s devotion to me.
When I pressed the ▼ next to “Subordinate Beast,” the sub-god dragon’s status was displayed.
It didn’t have a name yet, something I’d need to think about later. Its stats, however, had increased tenfold since the battle.
Fivefold was likely the result of the Statistical Overkill title, while the remaining twofold increase was probably due to the Beast Tamer occupation.
Incidentally, the number of subordinates I can have is determined by the formula:
Occupation Level × 10 × Tamer’s Magic Power ÷ Total Stats of All Subordinates.
Since my occupation level was already at MAX, the exact limit was unclear, but even with a hypothetical cap of 10, my subordinates’ total stats could reach 70 quintillion. In other words, practically infinite.
After reviewing my new occupation and status, I turned my attention to the dungeon administrator privileges.
By appraising the new title Dungeon Administrator, I got a rough idea of what it entailed.
Essentially, I could channel magic power into the dungeon core to convert it into Dungeon Points (DP). These DP could then be used to:
-
- Expand the dungeon’s floors.
-
- Spawn monsters.
-
- Generate items.
It seems DP could also be earned by defeating intruders, but I had no plans to repel humans, so I set that aside for now.
As I fiddled with the dungeon settings, the sub-god dragon kept glancing at me, as if wanting to ask something or simply seeking attention. I ignored it for now and continued exploring the dungeon’s functions.
So essentially, I now had a system that could convert my magic power into anything available through DP. With this, I could freely choose subordinates and stockpile items.
And then, an idea struck me.
“Hey, Sub-god Dragon. If I defeat monsters spawned in this dungeon, will I gain experience?”
“Ah, finally, you speak to me! Hmm… no, unfortunately not. Monsters spawned by the dungeon won’t grant experience if you kill them, as they are considered part of you.”
I see. Farming dungeon-spawned monsters for infinite levels would have been overpowered… but wait a minute.
“What about my family or my girlfriend? Would they gain experience from killing them? And if so, what’s the most efficient monster for leveling up?”
“Hmm, yes. If it’s not you, then they can gain experience. Is there someone you wish to strengthen? In that case, I’d recommend the Golden Fairy Papillon.
Low defense, and you can easily wipe them out with fire or magic. Simple enough, isn’t it?”
Golden Fairy Papillon?
Well, I don’t know the names of most monsters, but judging by the name, it must be some kind of butterfly or moth. Using my administrator privileges, I quickly searched for monsters I could summon—and there it was: the Golden Fairy Papillon.
Upon further investigation, I learned that the Golden Fairy Papillon is a corrupted version of the Golden Fairy.
As the Sub-god Dragon mentioned, its low defense and the fact that it could be instantly killed with magic made it a very appealing choice.
Its appearance? A completely golden butterfly.
I proceeded to set up unlimited spawn zones for Golden Fairy Papillons all across the 30th floor. The upper levels would feature level 100 Papillons, while the lowest levels would host level 999 Papillons.
This dungeon, populated exclusively by Papillons, would become the ultimate leveling dojo.
Of course, setting up unlimited spawn zones for high-level monsters (generating 50 per day per zone) consumed a total of 10 quadrillion DP.
On top of that, keeping all the spawn zones active would require 10 billion DP per day.
The cost was outrageous, but thanks to my immense magic power and skills like Magic Efficiency Boost and Automatic Magic Recovery, my actual magic consumption was effectively zero.
Alright, time to call Ichika-chan and do some leveling!
With that in mind, I shrank the Sub-god Dragon down to palm size using the Miniaturization skill and left the dungeon.
“Master, if it’s not too much trouble, could you give me a name?”
The now tiny Sub-god Dragon, about the size of a gecko, asked this near my ear.
Hmm. It’s true it doesn’t have a name, and as a Beast Tamer, it feels a bit odd to keep calling it Sub-god Dragon.
“All right, how about Kanahebi?”
“K-Kanahebi, you say?”
Kanahebi is a type of lizard popular as a pet.
The miniature Sub-god Dragon, with its golden color and wings, did look like a flashy Kanahebi. Plus, considering the current power gap between us—my stats being more than ten times higher—the name seemed fitting. Its strength wasn’t far off from a simple lizard’s.
Ignoring the displeased Kanahebi (formerly Sub-god Dragon), I finally left the dungeon.
Just as I was about to call Ichika-chan and invite her for some leveling, I discovered she was already in my room.
“What’s going on?” I wondered, still relaxed. But Ichika-chan looked slightly panicked.
“Yasukun, that announcement earlier… what does it mean!?”
The announcement earlier? The mechanical voice?
Wait, could she have heard it? Was it just Ichika-chan, or…?
Before I could make sense of anything, Ichika-chan grabbed my hand and pulled me along.
In the living room, I found my father and mother, who were supposed to be at work, my grandparents, and even Ichika-chan’s parents.
Everyone was staring at me, all with expressions that demanded an explanation.
What on earth is going on!?
