- Chapter 4 - Skill Details: A Growing Arcenal
When [Appraisal] reached Level 3, I gained the ability to identify people’s names, confirming the identity of my parents: Sashima Kousuke and Sashima Akie. I’d lived with them for 22 years in my previous life, so it was no surprise, but it solidified my faith in the skill’s reliability.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t see their status windows, no matter how hard I tried. Even when I asked my mother, “Can I see your palm for a second?” it yielded nothing. Whether this limitation stemmed from my skill level or the nature of [Appraisal] itself remained unclear.
Training, Running, and a Lucky Break.
To level up [Appraisal], I incorporated more observation into my daily activities, glancing at my parents or other passersby while running through busier routes. Compliments like “You’re so diligent for such a young boy!” made the effort feel worthwhile.
Most of my winter break was spent running to my physical limits and training my muscles until they screamed for mercy. Between sessions, I practiced moving and observing my growing magic flame, now a small bonfire compared to the tiny flicker it had been before.
When we visited my grandparents over New Year’s, my improved stamina and strength were evident during farm work. The hard labor earned me a generous 2,000-yen allowance. Lucky!
Skill Insights
The biggest breakthrough during winter break was the detailed descriptions of my skills, unlocked by the Level 3 upgrade to [Appraisal]. Here’s what I learned:
• Stat Boosts (e.g., Agility, Strength, Stamina): These skills amplify their respective stats by a multiplier of (1 + Lv). For example, with [Stamina Boost Lv. 9], my stamina was effectively 1.9 times its base value.
• [Mental Resistance Lv. 6]: Provides a 60% reduction to mental interference or attacks. While useful, I realized relying on such a skill could be dangerous if I underestimated the remaining 40%.
• [Super Recovery Lv. 4]: Eating restores physical damage, and the damaged areas grow stronger. This skill seemed tailored for muscle development, reinforcing its synergy with my training routines.
• [Repetitive Trial]: The effects of repetition—both efficiency and growth—are enhanced with this unique skill. I had suspected its existence long before I could identify it, given my knack for repetitive tasks in my past life.
Progress and Surprises
I was amazed by how far I’d come in just three months. My stats had nearly doubled, thanks to my relentless training and the cumulative effects of the stat-boosting skills. While the raw numbers might not seem impressive to an adult, for a six-year-old, it was extraordinary.
My skill levels were also climbing steadily. With [Stamina Boost] approaching Level 10, I wondered if it would cap at 10 or continue into double digits. The thought of maxing out a skill—or unlocking a new one—was enough to keep me motivated.
Between my daily routines of running, strength training, and honing my magic, I found time to review middle and high school math concepts to level up [Calculation]. Weekends brought opportunities to visit my grandparents, where I earned [Farming Lv. 2], and later [Farming Lv. 3], from helping with weeding, fertilizing, and harvesting.
Graduation and New Beginnings
As the months flew by, graduation day arrived. Surprisingly, I still remembered the kindergarten song and farewell chants from my previous life. Whether it was due to my improved memory from skill effects or simply the lack of meaningful experiences in my old life, I wasn’t sure. Either way, I chose to focus on the positive, convincing myself, I’m a genius with a great memory!
Unsurprisingly, I had no friends to say goodbye to. Most of my kindergarten days had been spent training alone in corners or observing my skills. Still, I was proud of what I’d accomplished: three to four months of relentless effort had honed my abilities beyond anything I’d imagined.

And so, after a productive winter and spring break, I embarked on the next chapter of my life as a first-grader. Though the sight of a bright new backpack didn’t excite me anymore—in fact, it felt embarrassingly childish—I knew my journey was just beginning.
