In this Second Chance at Life, where I can see skills as clear as day, everything feels like a breeze. And to make it even better, I’m spending my days joyfully with my First Love. - Chapter 52
March 11, 2011, Friday. A little before 3:00 PM, a magnitude 9.0 earthquake struck off the coast of Miyagi Prefecture. Accompanied by a massive tsunami, it caused countless casualties and became one of the most devastating disasters in history—the Great East Japan Earthquake.
In my previous life, my region recorded tremors at a seismic intensity of 5. I remember naively thinking, “This feels like the Chuetsu Earthquake all over again.”
This time around, ever since I tackled the dungeon that appeared during the Chuetsu Earthquake, I’ve been cautious about what might occur on March 11, 2011.
I’ve prepared, suspecting that this day might bring the same Great East Japan Earthquake—or perhaps an even larger dungeon or some other catastrophic event.
But I didn’t just sit idly by in anticipation.
On the 32nd floor beneath the dungeon’s main levels lies a hidden layer filled with 10,000 mechanical soldiers. These aren’t ordinary soldiers—they’re terrifying machines equipped with ominous weapons.
Two years ago, when I was in my second year of middle school, I came up with the idea of creating my own army. Since then, I’ve worked tirelessly to bring it to life.
These mechanical soldiers, my personal summons and army, were originally classified as Lost Slaughter Automaton Lv. 999. According to Appraisal, these automatons were created by some ancient civilization, which they eventually destroyed before becoming monsters over the course of eons.
Among all the mechanical beings I could summon in the dungeon, this automaton boasts the highest stats and most extensive skill set—essentially the pinnacle of what the dungeon could create.
But I didn’t stop there. Ichika and I worked together to modify all 10,000 of them, though most of the handiwork was hers.
We implemented three major upgrades to these Lost Slaughter Automatons:
-
- Material Upgrade: Ichika used her Alchemy skill to replace the original orichalcum alloy in their construction with a magic-infused ceramic material. This material was based on cutting-edge aerospace ceramics I borrowed from a highly classified American space facility.
Ichika replicated and mass-produced it, and I poured around 100 trillion units of magical energy into enhancing its durability. The result? Each automaton can now withstand five full-power punches from me—the kind of punches that could theoretically shatter Earth.
-
- Magical Enhancements: Using her Magic Imbuement skill, Ichika imbued each automaton with several magical properties:
-
- Healing Magic: For automatic repairs.
-
- Retaliatory Curse: Reflects damage received back to attackers.
-
- Spatial Magic: Includes a built-in magical energy storage system for use in magic-restrictive zones.
-
- Magical Enhancements: Using her Magic Imbuement skill, Ichika imbued each automaton with several magical properties:
Additionally, depending on their roles, some automatons were equipped with further magical enhancements, such as increased durability, boosted ranged attack power, or emergency time-freezing capabilities for survival.
While Ichika handled most of the imbuements, I continuously funneled surplus magical energy into them whenever I had spare time.
-
- Evolution through Strengthening: The final upgrade occurred as a result of turning these automatons into my familiars.
The moment I used my Tamer skills to bind them as familiars, they underwent a massive power-up. Thanks to my title, The Overwhelming Force of Numbers, and various buffs that amplify stats, their strength exploded to a thousand times what they had as monsters.
This transformation triggered a species evolution. Here’s a glimpse of their current stats:

These units are nothing short of an unstoppable army. Even at their base stats, they were terrifying, but as my familiars, they’ve become a force of nature.
With their Learning Ability, they grow stronger and adapt with each battle. Their collective power is beyond imagination, but their most significant feature is the Shared Community skill, which allows them to distribute damage among all 10,000 units, making them nearly indestructible.
It took years of preparation and meticulous upgrades, but now I have an army capable of facing any disaster—or so I hope.
I don’t know what will happen tomorrow. Whether it’s another earthquake, a massive dungeon, or something beyond my comprehension, I’ll face it with everything I’ve got.
For the first time, I might have to use every ounce of power at my disposal. And with Ichika and my Slaughter Automatons by my side, I’m as ready as I’ll ever be.
10 quadrillion… Every stat except magic far surpasses my own.
Originally, these mechanical soldiers had stats around 100 trillion, but after the effects of my title, The Overwhelming Force of Numbers, and my Tamer skills, their power multiplied by 100. Then, when their species evolved, their stats increased another tenfold.
The reason their stats are so precise is that Ichika and I carefully adjusted their parameters using Appraisal. However, I have to admit, these mechanical soldiers have turned out far stronger than I ever anticipated.
The Community skill is perhaps their most terrifying feature. This skill links all 10,000 soldiers into a single entity, allowing them to share information constantly.
In addition, their Damage Distribution ability ensures that any damage inflicted on one soldier is distributed evenly across all 10,000.
At first glance, this might seem like a drawback. But in reality, it effectively multiplies their durability 10,000-fold. In other words, to destroy them, one would need enough firepower to simultaneously obliterate all 10,000—a level of force that is almost unimaginable.
On top of that, minor injuries are instantly healed thanks to their Auto-Recovery skill and imbued Healing Magic. Furthermore, every attack they encounter is shared and learned by the collective, ensuring that no tactic works on them twice.
If a truly catastrophic attack is imminent, the Shared Link skill allows them to sever connections, sacrificing specific units to minimize overall losses.
Additionally, their Ally Summon skill allows them to instantly call reinforcements to any location.
As a Tamer, it’s natural to have familiars stronger than oneself. But even so, I can’t help but feel I’ve gone too far this time.
Each of these machines possesses enough power to potentially destroy a solar system. And there are 10,000 of them. Together, their interconnected system amplifies their strength exponentially.
For two years, I’ve prepared these mechanical soldiers in anticipation of this day—March 11, 2011.
According to my memories, an unprecedented disaster is set to strike this world in just a few hours.
To prepare, I stationed myself and ten of my clones in the Tohoku region, with 100 mechanical soldiers accompanying each of us.
However, since the disaster might not be confined to eastern Japan, I dispatched clones across the entirety of Japan—and even globally.
Each of my 1,000 clones was accompanied by 10 mechanical soldiers, ensuring comprehensive coverage.
I’ll admit, I’m not exactly a selfless person. I don’t use my power for the benefit of strangers, nor am I a hero eager to save others.
I’ve turned down numerous dungeon requests simply because I didn’t feel like it. Even when the police asked for my help, I often ignored them, choosing instead to prioritize my own peace of mind.
However, I do value the life I’ve built.
I have friends at school. I have Ichika, my adorable angel of a girlfriend. And supporting this life is the stability of my town, the relative safety of my country, and the conveniences of modern civilization.
Electricity, delicious food, warm clothes—these mundane comforts are worth protecting.
But this looming disaster threatens to take all of that away.
A calamity born not of nature but of dungeons and monsters—something absurd and unfair that didn’t exist in my previous life—is about to wreak havoc.
I won’t let that happen.
I’ll fight—for my own sake.
I’ll fight so I can wake up tomorrow morning to a peaceful and happy day, just like today.
I’ll ensure that even monsters beyond humanity’s ability to handle are dealt with—by me.
That’s been my unchanging creed since the day I first entered a dungeon.
Now, the moment approaches.
An unprecedented disaster, one unlike anything the world has ever seen, is about to unfold.
