- Chapter 12 - Family Meeting
The next morning, while we were having breakfast, Luka spoke up.
“I’d like a second serving♪”
Yes, Luka eats a lot.
We, the members of The Black Piglet Inn, were facing a food shortage.
After finishing breakfast, before the morning business started, we held a meeting. Luka, unaware that she was the main topic of this early morning discussion, sat there with a blank expression.
“What should we do?”
“What can we do?”
“Hmm…”
“……”
Our meeting immediately hit a dead end.
Luka looked around and asked,
“Wait… Am I eating too much?”
Her eyes welled up with tears as she spoke.
David quickly reassured her.
“No, no, Luka! It’s not your fault, right?”
We all nodded in agreement. Seeing our reactions, Luka made a suggestion.
“Um, if I can be of help, maybe I could… give milk again like before?”
David and I froze. Seeing our reactions, Laura smacked David’s head, and Abigail hit mine.
“Ouch!”
“What was that for?!”
Luka leaned closer to me, pressing her large chest against my side.
“Seraph~, please milk me like before.”
It’s true that I used to be in charge of milking Luka, but imagining doing it now was… impossible. Just the thought of it made my nose almost bleed. Abigail smacked me on the head again.
I quickly spoke up to change the subject.
“I think we should try selling the soy sauce we made yesterday…”
David immediately supported my idea.
“That’s a great plan! That stuff will sell for a high price!”
Laura, however, voiced her concerns.
“It’s a good idea, but finding a buyer might take time. I do know some merchants, but I can already see them trying to take advantage of us…”
She had a point. I thought the same thing.
Mom added her opinion.
“Instead of asking merchants to sell it for us, it might be better to wait for them to show interest in it first. That way, we’ll have the upper hand in negotiations.”
I had heard that trust is the most important thing in business, but merchants are clever talkers, and we wouldn’t stand a chance against them.
So, I made another suggestion.
“In that case, I think the best option is for Luka to go hunting…”
But Abigail and Mom immediately rejected my idea.
“We can’t let Luka do something so dangerous!”
“Seraph, don’t tell me you were planning to go into the Demon Forest too?”
Mom glared at me.
I quickly tried to justify myself.
“T-Then, how about we all test Luka’s abilities first? If anything happens, David will be with us…”
David rolled his shoulders and grinned.
“It’s been a while, but I don’t mind going hunting again.”
Hearing that, Laura frowned. She was clearly worried about David, who had lost one of his legs.
David noticed her concern and reassured her.
“If it’s just orcs, I can handle them with this leg just fine! Plus, Seraph’s enchantments will help!”
All the women, except for Luka, still looked uneasy. But since no better ideas came up, they reluctantly agreed. We would go on a hunt to see if it was truly safe.
As for Luka, she excitedly said, “I’ll do my best!” while sitting and practicing shadowboxing with quick whoosh movements.
