Inn Overlord: Reincarnated with Enhancement Magic, Now Worshipped as a Divine Messenger! - Chapter 13
After finishing our early morning meeting, our Black Piglet Inn group stepped outside and moved to the outskirts of the village. Even though it was early in the morning, some villagers were already awake and working. When they saw us, they asked, “Going on a picnic?”
We gave vague replies and kept walking until we reached the outskirts of the Demon Forest.
David and Laura were skilled former adventurers—I only recently learned this—so they could easily defeat any monsters that appeared around here.
But, of course, this was one of those times when no monsters showed up.
“Maybe we really should just have a picnic today.”
David said this while looking at the Demon Forest and then lay down on the grassy hillside. Laura followed suit.
“It’s been a while since we had such a peaceful moment. We should’ve brought some food.”
Abigail added,
“Yeah, this feels kinda nice.”
She looked at me, and I nodded along with my mother. Meanwhile, Luka was happily chasing butterflies in the field.
Then David spoke up again.
“How about we just close the inn for the day—”
Before he could finish, Laura, Abigail, and my mother all spoke in unison.
“No way.”
“No way.”
“No way.”
We all laughed.
At that moment, I felt the presence of a monster. Luka must have sensed it too because she stopped chasing butterflies and stared in a particular direction in the forest.
Noticing our reactions, Abigail asked,
“What’s wrong, Seraph? Luka?”
I answered,
“A monster…”
And it had an unusually strong magic aura.
David and Laura, the former adventurers, finally sensed it too. Moments later, a massive 3-meter-tall orc emerged from the forest.
It had sharp eyes, a distinct orcish nose, and two large tusks protruding from its mouth. Its belly wasn’t just fat—it was firm, filled with powerful, well-trained muscles.
—I’ve never seen an orc like this before…
David suddenly shouted in shock.
“An…An Orc General?!!”
We all turned to look at him.
Then, realizing that Luka was the closest one to the monster, David shouted,
“Luka!! Run!!”
The Orc General radiated a murderous aura, completely focused on Luka.
—Don’t you dare aim your killing intent at Luka…
I tried to break free from my mother’s grip and use my enhancement magic, but I stopped.
Because Luka’s magical aura was several times stronger than the Orc General’s.
David and Laura, overwhelmed by the sheer power of Luka’s magic, were left speechless.
In the blink of an eye, Luka threw a powerful right punch straight into the Orc General’s stomach.
It made the same sound as when she had defeated the Evil Centipede—like a lightning strike.
A large hole opened in the Orc General’s belly, and its bl00d and organs splattered onto the trees behind it.
“Huh?”
“…Ah…”
“What?”
“I… I can’t believe it…”
Everyone, except for Luka and me, was frozen in shock.
Then, David grabbed my shoulders, his intimidating bald head right in front of my face.
“What the hell is going on?!”
I replied,
“I told you, didn’t I? Luka is really strong…”
“Strong?! There’s a limit to how strong someone can be!!”
“Is there…?”
“That was an Orc General! It’s a B- ranked monster! Even a team of C-rank adventurers would struggle to defeat just one! And she took it down in a single hit?! That’s unheard of!!”
B- rank? I thought it was around C+… From what Albert and his group said yesterday, it seemed like monsters were ranked higher than I expected.
While David was shouting at me, Abigail ran over to Luka, worried about her.
But Luka effortlessly picked Abigail up, leaped into the air, and landed right next to us.
“Luka… are you okay?”
“Yes! I’m totally fine! Seraph-sama! I did it! Wasn’t I amazing?”
“Y-yeah, amazing.”
“Hehe, you praised me! Hehehe~”
As Luka giggled happily, David muttered,
“…Luka, you’re seriously strong…”
Luka tilted her head and blinked innocently.
“But Seraph-sama is even stronger, right?”
The other members of the Black Piglet Inn all turned their sharp gazes toward me.
I hesitated before answering,
“Uh… I don’t know… I think taking that thing down in one hit would be pretty tough for me.”
David looked even more shocked, and Luka added,
“But back when I was getting eaten by those Hobgoblins, you came rushing in and took them all down in one hit, didn’t you?”
With that statement, the others’ gazes on me grew even sharper—especially my mother’s. Her stare was terrifying.
“But those were just Hobgoblins… That orc was way stronger, right?”
David sighed and replied,
“Well, sure, the Orc General is stronger… But Hobgoblins are D+ ranked monsters. What kind of kid can take down a whole group of them in a single hit?!”
…So, if I use my enhancement magic, I count as a pretty strong kid in this world.
“Haha…”
I let out a dry laugh.
Then David crossed his arms and spoke seriously.
“…We can’t let Luka or Seraph be seen in public too much anymore.”
“Huh?”
“Listen, this is incredible… Seraph, your enhancement magic is amazing… But if people find out about this, both of you could be used by this country for their own purposes.”
Helping people is a good thing, right?
That’s what I thought.
But when I glanced at my mother, she looked… strangely sad.
