Intoxicated by Her Pheromones - Chapter 21
A smirk curled at the corner of her lips.
Song Qing picked up her phone and dialed Su Shu’s number.
Su Shu had just returned home and was feeding her little pet when she saw Song Qing’s call. She was a bit surprised but answered anyway.
“What’s up?”
“Nothing much. Just wanted to ask what you’re up to. Ye Zi should have sent you the revised contract by now. What do you think of it this time?”
“It’s fine. I’ve already signed it.”
“Then you must have seen that clause about you moving in with me for my convenience, right?” Song Qing said, already craving Su Shu’s sweet pheromones like an addiction.
“I saw it… But do I have to move in right now?” Su Shu frowned, glancing at the little pet in her hands.
Song Qing replied, “Of course. You should move in tonight. You signed the contract, which means we’re now in a contractual relationship. As my contracted omega, you should be by my side.”
“Besides, I’m feeling a bit down today. My alpha pheromones are restless, and I need an omega to soothe them. You know how dangerous it can be if a top-tier alpha’s pheromones leak.” Song Qing’s tone wasn’t forceful, but Su Shu could tell this wasn’t a request—it was a demand.
Su Shu pursed her lips and stayed silent.
She understood that Song Qing wasn’t asking for her opinion.
So, she didn’t argue further and agreed to move in that night.
But she had to bring her pet along.
Otherwise, the little one would be upset.
It was time for Song Qing to learn about its existence.
“Song Qing.”
“What is it?” Song Qing responded.
Su Shu said, “I can move in, but my pet is coming with me. It’s very attached to me and gets unhappy when I’m gone.”
“Fine. But what kind of pet do you have?” Song Qing asked, assuming it was something common like a cat or a dog.
“A Brazilian black kingsnake,” Su Shu answered calmly.
Song Qing froze. “A Brazilian black kingsnake? How big is it? Do you have a photo?”
“It’s not that big. Let me show you.”
Su Shu sent over a picture.
Song Qing opened it.
Seeing that the little creature was only about the width of a finger, she relaxed.
But…
That thickness… It looked familiar somehow…
Song Qing stared at the photo in silence, the call still connected.
When Su Shu got no response, she thought Song Qing might be scared—which surprised her.
“Song Qing?”
“Hmm?” Song Qing snapped out of her thoughts.
“Can I bring it with me?” Su Shu asked after a pause.
Song Qing finally remembered what they were discussing and replied, “Sure. I’ll prepare a separate room for it tomorrow. For tonight, just bring its cage over. I’ll come pick you up later, so start packing.”
Song Qing steadied her emotions, amused that she had somehow linked Su Shu’s pet snake to that person’s… tool.
How could such a tiny snake possibly kill anyone?
She must have been overworked lately.
Otherwise, why would she even think that?
Shaking off the thought, Song Qing rubbed her throbbing temples and remembered she had to fetch Su Shu soon. She quickly began getting ready.
Su Shu didn’t have many belongings. Once everything was packed, it only amounted to one suitcase.
However, the cage for her little pet was quite large, so when Song Qing came to pick her up, she only helped carry the cage after glancing at the rest of the items.
Su Shu carried the remaining things to the trunk herself.
The little pet was placed in the back seat. It didn’t dislike Song Qing and remained unusually quiet while being carried by her, but upon closer inspection, one could see that it was actually observing Song Qing the entire time.
Still, its observation held no malice.
So, Su Shu didn’t say anything and instead turned her gaze to Song Qing.
To avoid being recognized, Song Qing wore a baseball cap and a mask, covering most of her exceptionally beautiful face—only her mesmerizing eyes remained visible.
But Su Shu adored them all the same.
Among Song Qing’s features, her eyes were Su Shu’s favorite.
Song Qing herself had once revealed in an interview that she was most satisfied with her own peach-blossom eyes—eyes that could make anyone’s heart flutter and seem to gaze at everyone with deep affection.
Moreover, her pupils were special.
A rare, light amber color.
Under the sunlight, they gleamed like luminous glass beads, breathtaking when she smiled.
But when she wasn’t smiling, they turned icy.
Song Qing was aware of this, so she always maintained a smiling image in public.
Thus, what people remembered was the sparkling brightness of her eyes.
Only Su Shu had fallen for her because of those cold, frosty eyes when she wasn’t smiling.
Back then, Song Qing hadn’t yet entered the entertainment industry—she was the most pampered young lady of her family, so her personality wasn’t as aloof as it was now, when she looked at everyone with an air of disdain.
At the time, Su Shu was just a hired fighter. After being slashed during a mission, she accidentally bumped into Song Qing, staining her white dress with bl00d.
The proud young lady was furious that her dress had been dirtied and glared at her coldly, as if she wanted to devour her.
Logically, Su Shu should have been afraid.
But her first reaction wasn’t fear.
It was longing.
Longing for those beautiful eyes to keep looking at her.
Longing for the person before her to never stop watching her.
But by the time she realized it, Song Qing was already gone.
Only Su Shu remained in that spot.
The one who had just been gazing at her had long since disappeared.
An indescribable sense of loss filled her heart.
From then on, Su Shu began seeking out information about Song Qing.
But human greed knows no bounds, so Su Shu, unable to ever satisfy herself, ended up the way she was now. Yet she didn’t regret it in the slightest.
Instead, she felt blissfully happy.
And she believed Song Qing would soon feel the same.
No one loved Song Qing more than she did—Song Qing belonged with her.
Because she would give Song Qing everything she desired, fulfilling everything an alpha like her should rightfully have.
So what reason did Song Qing have not to be with her?
A faint smile curled at the corners of her lips as Su Shu lifted her gaze to meet Song Qing’s.
Song Qing was instantly stunned.
In all the time she had known Su Shu, this was the first time she had ever seen her smile like that.
Although they had already done everything, Su Shu still gave Ye Zi an unreal feeling. If Ye Zi hadn’t mentioned that matter, she wouldn’t have dared to believe Su Shu liked her at all, because Su Shu always seemed unhappy whenever she saw her.
But now she believed it.
Because Su Shu had just smiled.
And she had smiled while looking at her.
The corners of her lips curled up. Song Qing looked at Su Shu, whose exposed eyes sparkled like gemstones, breathtakingly beautiful.
“What made you smile so happily?”
“Nothing.”
“Then why were you smiling?” Song Qing pressed, clearly unwilling to let it go unless Su Shu said something sweet.
But Su Shu’s current persona in front of her was that of an unattainable flower, so of course she wouldn’t say it so easily. Pretending not to hear, she turned her head to look at the scenery outside the car window.
But Song Qing wasn’t about to let her off so easily. Taking advantage of the sparse traffic, she pulled the car over to a secluded spot by the roadside, unbuckled her seatbelt, and pinched Su Shu’s chin.
Forcing Su Shu to meet her gaze.
“Hmm? Why won’t you say it? Are you shy?”
“N-no… there’s nothing to say… I wasn’t smiling just now.” Su Shu turned her head away.
“Oh? So you’re saying my eyes are playing tricks on me?” Song Qing deliberately adopted a cold, displeased tone.
Su Shu frowned, her usually icy eyes now looking somewhat pitiful.
“No, that’s not what I meant.”
“Then what did you mean? I asked you to say it, but you won’t. Is it something you can’t say?” Song Qing said with a serious expression.
Su Shu’s face flushed instantly.
“N-no! It’s not like that!”
“Then what is it? I want to know.” As she spoke, Song Qing batted her captivating eyes, launching a charm offensive against Su Shu.
Su Shu was weak to this tactic and froze for a moment.
But because she still remembered her unattainable flower persona, even with her face burning red, she stubbornly refused to say a word.
“It’s fine if you don’t want to say it. Just tell me—does it have something to do with me?”
“…Yes.” Su Shu nodded.
Song Qing smiled and asked, “Is it related to me?”
“Yes.”
“Did you smile because of me?”
“Yes.”
“Was it a happy smile or an unhappy one?”
“Happy.”
“Alright, one last question.” The more Su Shu answered, the more confident Song Qing became, so her final question was straightforward.
“Do you like me?”
“No.”
Su Shu answered crisply.
Song Qing thought she must have misheard. Staring at Su Shu in disbelief, her mind went blank, as if she’d been struck over the head.
“Then why… did you smile at me? Didn’t you say it was because you were happy?”
“I was happy, but it’s because Xiao Chong really likes you. It’s the first time I’ve seen it take to someone else, so I was surprised.” Su Shu replied solemnly.
Song Qing’s face darkened, rendered speechless. Only then did she realize that all this time, she had been deluding herself—Su Shu had never had those kinds of feelings for her. Unable to hide her embarrassment, she immediately turned cold toward Su Shu.
The rest of the way, Song Qing didn’t say another word. After arriving at the villa and finishing the necessary arrangements, she went straight to her own room.
In the guest room, Su Shu looked around for a moment.
Then she let her little pet out of its cage.
The small creature promptly climbed onto her arm, just as Su Shu opened her laptop and pulled up the surveillance feed of Song Qing’s room.
She watched as Song Qing sat there sulking alone.
