It Seems I’m Not The Only One Who Reincarnated - Chapter 49: Departure
September 14th.
Friday, 3 PM.
Shi Hai was on his way to the bus stop.
The three of them had agreed to meet after their afternoon classes and then take the bus together to the high school Shi Hai and Zhu Lingjie had attended, commonly known as “North High.”
The name “North High” was straightforward and simple—it was located in the northern part of the city, though its official name was First High School.
The university was in the southern part of the city, and Shi Hai’s house was conveniently located in the middle.
So, traveling from the university to North High took twice as long, and if you included the time for bus transfers, they would probably arrive after 5 PM—just about the time high school classes ended.
As Shi Hai approached the bus stop, he spotted Jian Sichun and Zhu Lingjie waving at him from a distance.
“Hey~ we’re over here!”
Jian Sichun shouted, cupping her left hand around her mouth, while her right hand waved high in the air.
Standing beside her, Zhu Lingjie simply smiled and waved gently with her hand at chest level.
Their contrasting gestures and expressions immediately highlighted their opposite personalities—one lively, the other reserved.
However, judging by the past few days, they seemed to be getting along quite well.
But perhaps they were only putting on a harmonious front in his presence; who knew what it was like when they were alone.
After all, the dynamics between girls were much more complicated than those between boys, filled with subtle manipulations and hidden rivalries.
Things that seemed peaceful on the surface might be quite different underneath.
But they were holding hands so intimately; it shouldn’t just be a superficial friendship, right?
Shi Hai raised his hand to greet them as he approached and said, “Let’s get going; the next bus should be here soon.”
“Okay,” Zhu Lingjie nodded obediently, while Jian Sichun brought up a complaint from earlier that morning.
“Why did you leave without us this morning? You didn’t even wait for us!”
“It’s not necessary to walk together every day; our schedules aren’t the same.”
Jian Sichun had a strong sense of insecurity whenever she was away from Shi Hai for too long, so she wasn’t about to listen to any reasoning.
If he distanced himself from her, something had to be wrong.
“Well, you should at least consider our feelings! We were all happy to go back and change clothes, but when we got to your place, you were already gone. It felt like being stood up for a date. It’s really disappointing, you know?”
“Alright, my bad…”
Apparently, waiting for women was part of a man’s duty, Shi Hai thought as he touched his nose.
Zhu Lingjie gently tugged Jian Sichun’s hand and persuaded, “Alright, Xiaochun, we didn’t exactly ask Shi Hai to wait for us…”
“No way! We even changed back into our summer outfits today! And he left without even seeing us!”
Although it was already fall, the weather was still hot, with the temperature feeling like it was over 30 degrees Celsius.
So Jian Sichun and Zhu Lingjie had changed back into their cool summer outfits.
“Your punishment is to admire us properly now!”
Jian Sichun lifted her chin and, having experience as a cosplayer, naturally struck a pose for Shi Hai to admire, pulling Zhu Lingjie into the pose as well.
Their display caught the attention of everyone waiting at the bus stop.
The thoughts of the men around them were in sync:
(Which department are these two beauties from? The quality is too high!)
(Who’s that guy? Could they both be with him?)
(So jealous! Having both at once must be amazing!)
Shi Hai ignored them, having anticipated the ‘stares’ from his fellow single men.
Meanwhile, both Jian Sichun and Zhu Lingjie focused entirely on Shi Hai.
To them, the men around them were no different from air.
Jian Sichun asked smugly, “So, what do you think? We look good today, right?”
Shi Hai replied honestly, “You both look great.”
Today, Jian Sichun wore a loose short-sleeve top paired with ultra-short shorts.
One side of the top was tied in a knot, revealing her slim waist and a hint of her navel—quite provocative.
Zhu Lingjie, on the other hand, wore a pure white sundress and a sun hat, giving off an innocent and sweet vibe.
Compared to the first time they met, Jian Sichun was showing more skin, while Zhu Lingjie’s outfit was more conservative.
It was almost as if their dressing styles had swapped…
Shi Hai figured he was probably overthinking it.
After all, girls often change their styles; it wasn’t necessary to match their mood every time.
Maybe they just thought the outfits looked good today.
In reality, the two of them did have their own little schemes.
Originally, Jian Sichun dressed conservatively during her university days.
It was only after meeting Shi Hai and getting into cosplay that she gradually became more fashionable.
After all, she had worn cosplay outfits with so little fabric that even if she took pictures, they couldn’t be shared, nor could she wear them outside…
She had even worn a nude apron more than once, so this was nothing—a piece of cake.
As for Zhu Lingjie, unless she was trying to please Shi Hai with a “special outfit,” she usually didn’t wear anything too revealing.
That day, she dressed boldly to tempt Shi Hai, but since he didn’t even mention it, Zhu Lingjie felt so embarrassed afterward that she reverted to her usual style.
Zhu Lingjie’s happiness surged when Shi Hai complimented her, while Jian Sichun enjoyed the attention and asked with a grin, “Hehe, you’re being honest… So, what’s next? You know what to do, right?”
Shi Hai knew what she wanted.
He took out his phone and snapped a few photos of them before commenting, “Pretty, very pretty… But we’re here to work today, and you both dressed like we’re going on a date.”
This statement hit their intentions right on the mark.
They both turned their heads away, trying to hide their thoughts, their expressions becoming awkward.
In reality, they did treat this as a date.
Helping Shi Hai’s sister move was more of an excuse.
Even if they weren’t going to watch a movie, go shopping, or eat out, as long as they were going out with Shi Hai, it already counted as a date in their minds.
Shi Hai didn’t blame them—instead, he felt a bit guilty.
He felt that with them dressed like this, he should be taking them out for some fun…
Unfortunately, time didn’t allow it.
At that moment, the bus they were waiting for arrived.
The three of them boarded, and Jian Sichun reminded Shi Hai, “Remember to set the photo as your phone’s wallpaper!”
Jian Sichun had wanted to replace Tian Shui’s picture on Shi Hai’s phone for a while but hadn’t found a good opportunity.
So, she took this chance to let Shi Hai take a picture of her and Zhu Lingjie, giving her a reason to replace it.
“Got it, I’ll do it now.”
Shi Hai changed the wallpaper on his phone to the picture of Jian Sichun and Zhu Lingjie.
However, the lock screen wallpaper remained as a selfie of Tian Shui.
What Jian Sichun didn’t know was that the current lock screen wallpaper wasn’t the one she had seen before.
Over the past few days, Tian Shui had been sending Shi Hai a new R18+ picture daily, and Shi Hai had picked the one he liked the most and set it as his lock screen wallpaper.
The current picture featured Tian Shui biting the corner of her clothes, her skirt slipping down to her knees, and her legs fully covered in opaque black stockings… The essence was in her hand covering her eyes and her alluring smile.
It was one of those selfies that, despite not showing anything explicit, made one’s imagination run wild.
Shi Hai had set it as his lock screen wallpaper without hesitation.
He didn’t feel guilty at all because he believed he was simply appreciating beauty.
A beautiful lady is a gentleman’s dream.
If it’s beautiful, it’s beautiful—there’s no need to hide it.
To put it bluntly:
What’s wrong with men being lustful?
