“…Do you want some?”
“Huh?”
Alice hadn’t expected the black-haired man holding the cake to speak to her. She looked up at him, her mouth slightly open in surprise.
“How about half?”
“What!?”
Placing the cake on a small plate, the man effortlessly cut it with a fork and lifted a piece toward her mouth.
“Here.”
“!?”
“Say ah~.”
“A-ah… mmph?!”
As soon as she opened her mouth, he placed the cake inside, then casually ate the remaining half himself.
“Mmm, it’s good. Sorry for only sharing half.”
“???”
Alice chewed in stunned silence, unable to say anything. Meanwhile, the black-haired man smiled and walked away, leaving her utterly bewildered.
“A-Alice! Who was that just now? Why didn’t you introduce me?!”
“…Mmm… cough… I… don’t know him…”
“Huh?”
“I don’t know who he is…”
“What? W-wait, you don’t even know him? But he just fed you cake—into your mouth!”
Colin stared in shock as the mysterious man disappeared into the crowd.
Meanwhile, Alice felt her face growing unbearably hot. Her heart was racing, and she fanned her cheeks in an attempt to cool down.
(W-who was that man…? Even Louis and I have never shared food like that… If Louis saw this…!)
A sudden wave of panic hit her. What if Louis had seen them? She quickly turned to look at where Louis had been dancing with Caroline.
“…”
The dance had ended, and Louis was now standing with Caroline, each holding a drink as they laughed and talked.
Alice could do nothing but watch.
“…Why isn’t he coming to ask me?”
She bit her lip, trying to suppress the urge to cry.
“Alice, why don’t you ask him instead? If you go to him, he’ll definitely dance with you.”
“…Do you really think so?”
“Oh! They’re coming this way! Come on, don’t make that sulky face now!”
“!”
Alice’s heart pounded as Louis and Caroline approached. She waited for him to finally ask her to dance.
“I’m starving after that dance. Everything looks delicious. What should I get for you?”
“I’ll have this one.”
Louis handed Caroline a plate of food, and the two of them continued chatting—right in front of Alice.
“Louis, you’re quite a skilled dancer.”
“I just made sure not to step on your feet.”
“Oh my, haha.”
Hearing their conversation, Alice wanted nothing more than to run away.
“…”
“Alice…”
At that moment, Colin stepped forward with a loud clap, drawing everyone’s attention.
“Louis, enough is enough!”
“W-what?! Colin?”
“Huh? Oh—!”
Louis finally seemed to realize that Alice was standing right there.
