It’s Not Okay to Kiss Me as Soon as We Meet (ABO) - Chapter 2
Lin Feng glanced at Lin Huaiyi and pondered for a moment.
Lin Huaiyi felt her heart skip a beat from that glance. The old were indeed wiser; Lin Feng’s look seemed to pierce right through her.
“If you want to gain experience, that’s fine. If you don’t want to join the company yet, go to the Shen Corporation instead. The Shen Corporation is our rival company. Know your enemy and know yourself. When you return to the company later, you’ll understand how to deal with the Shen Corporation.”
Lin Huaiyi had not fully grasped the original owner’s past memories. She quickly searched through the memory fragments in her mind but found no information related to the Shen Corporation.
The most important thing right now was to safely leave the Lin family without giving herself away in front of Lin Feng.
So she flashed a canine tooth and smiled obsequiously.
“Okay, Dad.”
Lin Feng saw his usually stubborn daughter suddenly show this silly smile, and he felt a touch of emotion in his heart.
How had differentiation made her seem even more childlike? In his memory, Lin Huaiyi had not shown such a silly smile since she turned ten.
He resisted the urge to ruffle Lin Huaiyi’s hair and cleared his throat seriously instead.
He put on his usual stern face and said, “Don’t think you can do whatever you want just because you’re away from home. If you don’t perform well, the position of Lin Corporation heir won’t fall to you.”
Today marked Shen Li’s first day as head of the product department.
Shen Li had specially chosen a custom Dior white suit, making her look vibrant and full of energy.
Her slightly wavy hair cascaded over her shoulders, giving her a lazy and alluring charm while also exuding high spirits.
As she walked through the high-tech office building of the Shen Corporation, various junior staff secretly watched her along the way.
Indeed, Shen Li’s height and aura did not lose to any top alpha. Before people knew her gender, betas and Omegas often mistook her for an alpha and boldly threw themselves at her.
The higher the floor in the Shen Corporation’s office building, the higher the position it represented.
The chairman’s office sat on the 88th floor, overlooking the entire city of A.
Shen Li’s recent promotion had moved her to the 48th floor.
Shen Li had just settled into her office when her assistant Little Yang entered with a stack of documents in his arms.
“President Li, here are the personnel files for the product department that you asked me to organize. The top stack contains resumes for the new hires starting soon.”
Shen Li took the documents and flipped through them quickly. Suddenly, one resume caught her eye.
Lin Huaiyi’s face stood out too strikingly. Even in the ID photo, Shen Li immediately recognized Lin Huaiyi’s peach blossom eyes.
Shen Li frowned. How could the world have such coincidences?
She had been accidentally marked the day before, and now she saw Lin Huaiyi’s resume the next day. Was this person deliberately targeting her to cause trouble?
She glanced at Assistant Yang, trying to read something from him.
Assistant Yang felt a chill sweep over him but could not figure out what he had done wrong. He clenched his fist, feeling small and helpless.
“OK, leave these here for me to review. Go do your own work.”
Hearing Shen Li’s dismissal, Assistant Yang quickly slipped away politely and swiftly. He carefully closed the office door, leaving not a trace of cloud behind.
Shen Li’s slender fingers returned to the stack of files. She pulled out Lin Huaiyi’s resume and examined it closely.
In the resume photo, Lin Huaiyi smiled gently and politely. The corners of her peach blossom eyes curved upward in a beautiful arc, making her whole face shine brightly.
Shen Li grew angry as she looked and could not help but jab a pen hard at it, manually adding a pimple to Lin Huaiyi’s face.
Shen Li found nothing to criticize about Lin Huaiyi’s graduating school or education. As an entry-level employee in the Shen Corporation’s product department, she more than qualified.
Shen Li also did not want to make a big fuss by having Assistant Yang investigate Lin Huaiyi’s hiring process, fearing it might be exploited by those with ulterior motives.
“Fine, I’ll let you in. I want to see what scheme you’re up to.” Shen Li said to herself inwardly, harboring a sense of luring the dog in to kill it.
At the Lin family estate, Lin Huaiyi appealed to her mother’s emotions and reasoned with her, vowing to start from the bottom ranks. She successfully persuaded her mother to nod in agreement and allow Lin Huaiyi to move out of the Lin family estate.
Her mother even prepared a small apartment specifically for her precious daughter, just a ten-minute journey from the Shen Corporation.
On moving day, Mrs. Lin, adorned in jewels, directed a team of about ten butlers to do this and that. She practically wanted to turn this ninety-plus square meter apartment into a Versailles palace.
Lin Huaiyi watched from the side and tried several times to politely decline her mother’s kindness, but all attempts ended in failure. Her temples throbbed with bulging veins.
In the end, she could endure no more and needed to endure no longer. She directly bundled up the butlers in their black swallowtail suits and the aggrieved, delicate Mrs. Lin and swept them all out the door.
After returning home, Mrs. Lin wept and wailed in front of Lin Feng, filing a full complaint about this detestable alpha daughter. Lin Feng, swamped with daily affairs, still had to handle his wife’s tearful outburst. Inwardly, he noted Lin Huaiyi down in his little black book.
Today, Lin Huaiyi had to report to the Shen Corporation. She surveyed the original owner’s wardrobe and found not a single piece suitable for a junior office drone.
At this moment, Lin Huaiyi stood in the Shen Corporation’s product department office. She looked down at the shirt and trousers she had hastily bought from an international luxury brand, Yumu Library, and nodded in satisfaction.
Now this fit the office drone persona.
Liu Jiao served as the trainer for new hires and also as the grassroots team leader in the sales department. She had noticed Lin Huaiyi early on.
This new employee dressed in low-key, simple attire, yet her beauty shone too brilliantly, making the Yumu Library suit look like Givenchy.
Lin Huaiyi felt a wave of fragrant wind brush past. Liu Jiao smiled with particular allure. “With such great qualifications, why did you apply to the product department back then? Why not our sales department?”
The sales department head was Shen Yan, another heir to the Shen Corporation who had long clashed with Shen Li. The rivalry between the sales and product departments stretched back many years.
Shen Li came down just in time to witness this scene. A refined Omega stood particularly close to Lin Huaiyi. In Shen Li’s eyes, Lin Huaiyi needed only to reach out to pull Liu Jiao into her arms.
Irritation in Shen Li’s heart peaked. Wearing fine high heels, she strode over with “clack clack clack” steps and used her height advantage to look down at Liu Jiao.
“Manager Liu, when did the company’s new employee training rules add an item about soliciting employees to change their hiring intentions?”
Without waiting for Liu Jiao to answer, Shen Li turned her sights on Lin Huaiyi.
“In the workplace, maintain distance from colleagues of different genders. The first rule you learn in new employee training today is that the Shen Corporation prohibits office romances.”
Ever since Shen Li approached, Lin Huaiyi had felt an intensely familiar sensation. Yet she had just crossed over and knew no one, so she could not understand why she felt this familiarity toward someone.
Shen Li saw her staring blankly without speaking and grew furious. “Do you understand?”
Lin Huaiyi snapped out of it at her call, realizing that staring so directly at an Omega seemed improper.
Seeing the flush on the Omega’s face before her trend toward darkening as she stared, she quickly blinked and answered obediently, “Got it.”
Shen Li did not know that the detestable alpha before her had not yet recognized her. She thought the alpha toyed with her on purpose and darkened her face.
“Come with me to the office.”
Lin Huaiyi had lived until the moment she fell off the mountain in her previous life, just past her 30th birthday.
In her previous life, her resume shone brightly. She worked several years at a multinational company, accumulated experience, then started her own business. For such a minor workplace scene, she felt no tension at all.
As the beautiful Omega raged, those around drew in sharp breaths of surprise. Only Lin Huaiyi remained calm and composed.
Shen Li was actually only 25 this year. No matter how strong she seemed, in Lin Huaiyi’s eyes, she appeared as a mere kitten, all milky fierceness.
Shen Li flung down those words and strode off in her fine high heels. Lin Huaiyi followed behind with an innocent expression.
Liu Jiao watched their retreating backs and ground her silver teeth to bits. Beside her, an oblivious secretary’s eyes turned to hearts. “Why do I feel like Lin Huaiyi and President Li look so well-matched? Both so good-looking, like a golden boy and jade girl.”
Liu Jiao shot a fierce glare at the tactless secretary, snorted coldly, stomped her foot, and left.
Lin Huaiyi followed Shen Li all the way to the executive elevator.
The Shen Corporation’s elevators boasted luxury fittings. The large mirrors inside received cleaning every few hours, offering exceptional clarity.
The two stood in the elevator car. Lin Huaiyi looked down, and Shen Li’s head reached just to Lin Huaiyi’s nose wing.
After differentiation, an alpha’s sense of smell grew keen. At this moment, as Lin Huaiyi lowered her head slightly, she caught the faint, elusive fragrance emanating from Shen Li.
Lin Huaiyi’s heart softened. This scent felt so familiar.
The elevator suddenly jolted. Shen Li wore fine high heels and lost her balance, falling backward.
Lin Huaiyi instinctively reached out and pulled Shen Li into her arms.
In that instant, Lin Huaiyi suddenly felt that the empty space in her heart after crossing over had abruptly filled.
Lin Huaiyi lowered her gaze. From this angle, the scene before her eyes seemed so similar to that night when she pinned the Omega in her arms and kissed her. She shivered. This went beyond similar; it matched exactly.
Only now did Lin Huaiyi finally recognize her. The person in her arms was the Omega whose eye corners had reddened from her teasing that night.
Lin Huaiyi’s gland seemed to act on its own, releasing SSS-level alpha pheromones without regard. It lured Shen Li until her legs weakened, leaving her no choice but to lean into Lin Huaiyi’s embrace.
Shen Li appeared cold in demeanor, yet her pheromones tasted clear and sweet, like water honey peach. These pheromones seemed to have minds of their own. Upon receiving Lin Huaiyi’s, they eagerly sought to blend with Lin Huaiyi’s pine mountain silver needle.
Shen Li inwardly cursed her pheromones for their unreliability.
“So it’s you.” The alpha’s voice, roughened by arousal, turned low and husky, unlike its usual clarity. To the Omega’s ears, it sounded even more seductive.
Shen Li summoned all her willpower and rose from the alpha’s arms. Since the temporary mark not long ago, the Omega’s body actually held strong dependence on the alpha.
Shen Li had just steadied herself when the elevator dinged open. She strode out first on her long legs.
Lin Huaiyi blanked for an instant. This Omega proved so heartless, leaving the moment she wished.
Between AOs who had marked each other, the alpha’s possessiveness toward the Omega ran strong. In the instant Shen Li left Lin Huaiyi’s side, Lin Huaiyi even wanted to pin her back in her arms, then kiss those rosy thin lips fiercely—best to bully them until they swelled high.
Lin Huaiyi took a deep breath and suppressed the desire in her heart. She followed Shen Li with grace.
Shen Li hurried a few steps, almost rushing into the office. She had already forgotten that Lin Huaiyi trailed behind.
Just as she thought to sit in her office chair and calm down, Lin Huaiyi’s voice echoed faintly. “President Li, have you forgotten me?”
The ending note rose slightly, carrying a hint of grievance.
Shen Li: ?!
Shen Li narrowed her eyes halfway and stared fiercely at Lin Huaiyi. “You’ve recognized who I am?”
Lin Huaiyi looked innocent. “Just now downstairs, I heard others address you that way.”
Facing Shen Li’s murderous gaze, Lin Huaiyi forced out the words.
“But the person from that night—it was you, right?”
