The village has changed significantly over the past half month. There are three main points.

First, we expanded the village from 100×200 to a size of 300×300.

The second change was constructing stone fortifications around the expanded village to improve its defense.

The third was the construction of a fortress at the village center, which became my residence.

The area outside the village also had some changes; I’ll slip those in during the explanation of the three key matters.

Let’s start with the first matter.

The reason we expanded the village is that its current size would soon be overwhelmed by the growing number of slimes. I also wanted to place my home, the fortress, at the center. Also, I plan for Rio and the others to have human children. Considering the future, the present scale is too limited.

About eight to nine people helped cut down the trees at once. Some were left for re-greening, and the logs were stacked in the area with the now-expanded five charcoal kilns.

For now, we only have charcoal kilns, but in a few days, the discovery of a Clay Golem will lead us to hastily build a pottery kiln…

The second matter is the construction of the defensive wall.

We built a solid stone wall, 5 meters thick and 5 meters high. There’s one gate on the south side, and we plan to add gates to the north, east, and west in the future. No point in building gates no one uses yet.

Alongside this, the now-obsolete wooden wall was dismantled. Can’t believe it only lasted two months… I had fun using the honeycomb structure though.

On top of the wall, we built 10-meter-high watchtowers at 50-meter intervals. At the 150-meter mark, flanking the south gate, we placed two towers on either side, making eight towers on that side.

Expecting gates to be added on the other sides too, we built towers at the same intervals, bringing the total to 28. For now, we’re only watching the south gate since we’re short on personnel — we should be able to staff the rest in about six months.

We dug a 5-meter-wide moat outside the wall and diverted river water into it. It doubles as a defense measure and an irrigation canal.

Since increasing the canals raised concerns about drought, we built a reservoir about the size of a 50-meter pool upstream, around 10km from the village. It’s a bit far, but if it floods, it won’t wash away the village. Water shouldn’t be a problem for a while.

The fields are irrigated by canals, we get drinking water from wells, and we’ve got ale and wine too.

Now for the third and final part, the fort.

In the village center, a 100×100 meter zone is surrounded by a stone wall, 5 meters thick and 8 meters high. There’s a tower at each corner and only one gate on the south side. This double-layered wall serves as the final refuge in emergencies.

Inside are two buildings: on the south side, a two-story government/administrative building; on the northwest, a three-story residence for me and my slaves. The nursery girls will also live there. The northeast has a Western-style Garden — just greenery for now, but eventually it’ll bloom into a beautiful space.

The reason for placing a garden between the government office and the residence is to prevent unauthorized people from breaking in.

The corridor and the office are divided by a sturdy bronze door, and only slimes and the slaves are able to enter.

The office is made of stone, with an entrance hall that stretches up to the second floor, and the rest was finished off in a safe generic guild-like style.

I asked the baby slimes to make the residence with a white and blue color scheme, like a palace! They worked super hard, and the result was such a luxurious building that I want to stay here forever.

All the slimes pitched in during breaks between dungeon expeditions. I truly appreciate it.

Slimes live on the first floor in fairly spacious 1LDK-style rooms, and the second floor has multiple 10-tatami-mat-sized rooms for the slaves.

The reason the slimes’ rooms are bigger is because they’re more valuable. I can’t treat those who built such a huge building worse than the slaves.

The third floor is entirely my personal space, divided into three parts: a luxurious palace-style room, a modern-style room, and a 1LDK-sized room for the nursery girls.

My rooms are each about the size of a gym, so when I first stepped in, I couldn’t help but yell, “It’s way too big!”
