I’ve Been Reincarnated as a Tentacle Slime~ I Want to Live a Comfortable, Secure Life and Do Whatever I Want~ - Chapter 91
First, I need to find out how much each thing sells for.
[Since we’ll pass the 5th floor so quickly, isn’t there no need to look at it?]
[That’s true, but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to know anyway.]
In front of us was the request board for beginner adventurers, and right next to it, the party recruitment board.
(Let’s start by looking at the request board.)
[All the requests are for undamaged turtle shells and flawless rabbit or wolf pelts.]
[That’s strange. I don’t see any other kinds of requests.]
[I got it, old man! Normal people end up damaging the fur when they kill monsters! They probably crack the turtle shells too!]
[I see, that does make some sense. Let’s confirm if that’s correct.]
Natalie was at the counter, so we decided to ask her the reason.
“There are no other requests because there isn’t enough demand to make them worth posting. Potion ingredients are always in demand, but not enough to raise the reward! As for pelts and shells, it’s tough to defeat monsters without damaging them! If you’re skilled enough to do that, you’d just move on to the next floors.”
[Looks like Kouga was correct.]
[Heck yeah!]
[In that case, jobs to collect undamaged materials even from the lower floors might be profitable.]
“Then how come there aren’t any requests for meat or stone materials either?”
“Those were probably already taken by other adventurers. They’re popular!”
“I see, so it’s first come, first served.”
“That’s right! If there are plenty of those jobs, you can collect the materials first and accept the request afterward.”
Natalie told us about the whole request system, including how they’re put up at dawn and how it becomes a scramble to get them.
Next up is the party recruitment board.
Most of the listings just say “anyone with attack skills,” and even the specific ones only ask for magic users or people with melee combat skills. Some even say “anyone is fine.”
Natalie explained that since they’re low-rank adventurers, it’s only natural that they don’t ask for much. I guess that’s fair. I don’t have strong skills either, so it balances out.
[Hey, old man. If we join a female adventurer’s party and use Charm on them like that woman earlier and impregnate them, wouldn’t it be easy to make more little brothers and sisters?]
[You idiot. If you do something that flashy, we’ll be hunted down by adventurers more powerful than us.]
[I see. We’ve gotta get stronger, first then!]
(Hmm, that’s one way to do it. It might come off like I’m exploiting newbies, but as long as I bring them to the 25F, it should be okay. I’ll need to get stronger, like Kouga said.)
[Well, there’s no need for a party in the lower levels. Alright, let’s head to the dungeon.]
[[[[Yes!]]]]
◆◆◆◆◆◆◆
We arrived at the entrance of the dungeon.
“You’re a beginner adventurer, right? Don’t push yourself too hard.”
The soldier saw the wooden tag around my neck and decided I was a low-rank.
(Ah, so the tag saves you from having to show your card every time. That’s nice.)
When I entered the dungeon, the internal structure was the same as my dungeon. Only the route to the 2nd floor was different.
No, the big difference is the number of people loitering around this white gate safe zone. Many are wounded, probably recovering after battle. Several adventurers had bulging backpacks. Probably filled with materials?
It’s hard to believe they’re having such a rough time with bats, though I did too, back when I started. I guess that’s just how it is.
I straddled Wolf-Rafa and dashed through the passage to the 2nd floor while checking the map.
While moving, I pulled out my adventurer card and checked its contents.
(Oh! The card’s been updated!)
Just like Natalie said, at the bottom left, a “Highest Floor Reached,” section had been added, and below it was written “Dungeon No. 4545: 1F.”
So this is how they keep track of adventurer progress?
(Wait, hold on? If I enter my dungeon, won’t it instantly update to floor 30…? That’s bad!)
I was wondering if I could hide it somehow when the “Dungeon #4545: 1F” display disappeared.
(Oh, thank goodness. So you can toggle the display!)
I breathed a sigh of relief and refocused on clearing the dungeon.
Looking around, various races had formed parties and were fighting bats.
Ogres were pummeling bats barehanded, lizardmen whipped their tails like whips to efficiently hunt monsters, and humans struck bats with wooden or stone clubs. As expected, ogres really are strong.
After running in the dungeon for a while, the density of people steadily decreased.
We’re only about a third of the way in, but I wonder if adventurers rarely come to this area.
Up until now, other adventurers had been defeating them, so I didn’t need to fight, but from here on, I have to fight.
Where [Soundwave Manipulation] detected people, Rafa used her claws and fangs to kill; in unpopulated places, she stabbed with a tentacle spear to devour them.
(I wonder if with this much of a strength difference I can consume them without killing? —— It worked.)
When I grabbed a bat with a tentacle and devoured it, the bat dissolved and vanished.
However, since feeding by stabbing doesn’t take much more time than usual, it’s probably only useful inside Monster Houses.
–
Going deeper, we covered roughly two-thirds of floor 1. In that span, we killed 100 bats and got 200 wings. Also, starting around here, the number of hunting adventurers increased. I see, they go down to 2F once, then return to the black gate on 1F and hunt from there.
So they base their activities around the white and black gates, making the center of the floor the least populated area.
(Yeah, I’m not sure what good it does knowing that… because for hunting, we normally use Monster Houses anyway.)
With those thoughts in mind, I entrusted the battles to other adventurers and dashed toward the black gate.
Around the black gate, just like the white gate, it was a gathering spot for people.
Since Rafa’s been running the whole time, I think I’ll call it quits here for today.
After passing through the black gate and going to 2F, we returned to the surface.
◆◆◆◆◆◆◆
When we returned to the surface, it had already become evening.
(It took more time than I expected. That means this dungeon is quite large.)
Even proceeding along the shortest path still takes a day. It means it will take 30 days to get to 30F.
It can’t be helped if it takes time. I guess I’ll pass the time by boosting my forces by impregnating Rio, the village girls, and the nursery girls.
Alfred comes one day every half month, so I can earn 180 silver coins per month, but since I don’t know the value, I should probably earn as much as possible here as well.
Also, I have the desire to buy clothes equal to Natalie’s and dress the village girls in them.
There’s also the option to buy slaves.
(And for that, money is needed.)
I made my way to the adventurer’s guild to convert 200 wings from the spoils into cash.
Chapter length 2872 characters.
