Tetsujin and Moguran were huddled together. They were seemingly discussing something. Did they find something? Just as I was about to ask them, Moguran began to dig cautiously. 

We watched with bated breath. It was too late to say, “Let’s stop after all.” 

After digging for a while, he hit something that looked like a wall. A wall? Inside the mountain? 

Moguran turned to look at us.

“Hmm, is there no entrance nearby?” 

“Ma.” 

Tetsujin shook its head from side to side. No entrance, huh? It seemed that Tetsujin had found something like ruins beyond this wall. If there was no entrance nearby, then there was nothing we could do. It was also almost lunchtime. So we decided to wrap things up here and take a break. 

“I’m tired, so let’s head back now.”

Hearing that, Flare-chan looked a bit disappointed. She must be curious about it. But this town is within Duke Flute’s territory. If the excavation progresses, she’ll be able to visit it anytime. Not that it concerns me. 

Lunch with Flare-chan ended in no time. Of course, we were excitedly talking about the ancient ruins. Since they were buried underground, there was a chance they were perfectly preserved. If that were the case, it would be a huge discovery. 

No wonder everyone was excited. They even looked at me, the prince, as if they’d seen a ghost. 

Understanding their excitement, I started the afternoon’s work. We decided to leave the investigation of the ruins for later and continued deeper into the tunnel. 

Even though we took a lunch break, it seemed like no one had fully recovered from the shock of the morning’s events. Everyone looked a bit distracted. In the end, my bodyguard Balt sternly scolded them. He said, “Are you trying to get Rufus-sama hurt?” Only then did they finally pull themselves together. 

In other words, they were that shaken up. 

We continued at a much slower pace than in the morning. We eventually finished the day’s work. In the end, we only managed to get through a little over half of the planned route. Brother Leonard’s definitely going to be mad when I get back. Even though it wasn’t my fault.
