Episode 34: In Other Words, She’s Sexy
The next day. I headed to the Summoning Guild to show off my new fairy, Tia, to Selvus and Lala.
When I entered the room, I found Selvus writing something. While Lala was practicing controlling both a Marmot and a Bardon at the same time.
But she wasn’t doing too well—
When the Marmot moved, the Bardon froze. And when the Bardon moved, the Marmot stopped.
Huh…
Maybe controlling multiple summoned creatures at the same time is actually really difficult?
In my case, my summons all move automatically. So I’ve never really thought about it.
Looks like there’s a big difference between how I summon and how others do it.
Maybe it’s because I grew up treating animals like pets, while other summoners… didn’t?
This might be something I need to study more in the future.
“Good morning, everyone.”
“Good morning, Prince Rufus.”
“Good morning, Guild Master.”
“What’s on your schedule today?”
Selvus planned to finish drafting the encyclopedia, and Lala wanted to practice summoning new magical creatures.
In that case, I figured I’d summon Beartolt to help Selvus with his work. And I’d ask Lala to sketch Marimo.
“I summoned a new magical creature last night! Let me introduce her.”
“In the name of Rufus Eladoria, I command you—manifest, Fairy!”
“Hello there! If you don’t give me candy, I’ll play a prank on you!”
Tia appeared, playfully placing a finger on her cheek.
But—
The entire room fell silent.
Wait, what?
Was it because she’s a Fairy?
Or was her line just too much?
“This is Tia, the Fairy. Don’t worry, she won’t actually prank anyone… Wait, actually, didn’t you startle me last night?”
“Oh, come on, it was just a little joke!”
“Yeah… ‘just a little’, huh?”
Yep, she’s definitely a mischievous Fairy.
This… could be trouble.
As I explained Tia’s abilities, the tension in the room gradually eased.
Selvus and Lala finally started examining her closely.
After all, the first step in summoning a magical creature is observation—
If you can’t picture it clearly, you can’t summon it.
“This is quite the surprise. To think Fairies—creatures of legend—could be summoned into reality. The children will be delighted.”
Selvus smiled warmly. Wrinkles formed around his eyes.
Was he thinking about his grandkids?
Maybe he wanted to show Tia to them.
“If I learn to summon Fairies, I’ll be able to dry my hair too! That means I can finally grow my hair long!”
Lala clapped her hands together in excitement.
So she’d always wanted long hair?
I actually think her short hair looks great, though.
“Now that you mention it, after Tia dried my hair last night, it felt shinier than usual. Maybe her wind has some kind of extra effect?”
“Guild Master! Tell me everything!”
Lala leaned in way too close. Her big, adorable eyes were sparkling with curiosity.
The terrifying power of a girl’s beauty obsession.
I mean, yeah, she’s obviously a girl. But this is the first time I’ve seen this side of her.
If my mother found out about this—
Oh no.
She’d make me dry her hair every single day.
…That sounds way too realistic.
Better keep quiet.
I exchanged glances with Balt and Ray, and they both gave a firm nod.
Right. We take this to our graves.
Honestly, at this rate, Lala might summon a Fairy before a Lightmoth.
Since she was so interested, I let Tia model for her.
Hearing that, Tia immediately got excited—
Right after I summoned Marimo for Selvus and Lala, she hopped onto it. She then struck a dramatic pose.
“What’s with that slightly suggestive pose?”
Tia struck a somewhat provocative pose, and I noticed Selvus glancing over at her. He looked a bit flustered.
“Selvus can’t focus, so pick a normal pose.”
I wondered if Selvus realized that he was already the target of Tia’s pranks.
But he did seem genuinely interested in summoning a Fairy for his grandchildren.
For now, I decided to just observe.
Meanwhile, I figured I might as well help Selvus with his work.
After all, even though I look like a kid, I have an adult’s mind.
I wrote tons of research papers back in my student days.
As long as I had a template, this was a piece of cake.
“Huh? What is this…? Is this supposed to be me!? Lala, you’re really bad at drawing.”
“Uuuu… Please don’t say it so bluntly…! B-Beartolt-sensei! Teach me how to draw!”
“Bear?”
Hmm, Lala was really getting comfortable with my summoned creatures.
At this rate, she might awaken her summoning abilities soon.
Too bad her drawing skills weren’t quite there yet.
Not that I was any better.
“Alright, Lala. Let’s learn together from Beartolt-sensei.”
“Please teach us, Beartolt-sensei.”
“Bear!”
“In that case, I shall join you as well. I’m not particularly skilled either.”
And just like that, Selvus joined in too.
Since Balt and Ray were standing around doing nothing, I had them join as well.
Sitting down to draw would be easier than standing around all day, anyway.
“Can I see Darling’s drawing too?”
“It’s… something like this.”
“BFFFOOOH!! You’re kidding, right!? This looks like a Mandragora!”
(Note:
Mandragora
)
“No, it’s Tia.”
“LIES! THIS CAN’T BE REAL!”
Tia was so shocked, she looked just like The Scream by Munch.
(Note:
Edvard Munch
)
Ironically, at this moment, she actually resembled my drawing.
