Episode 90: In Other Words, Lagios and Moguran Are Amazing
Now then, what should I do? I don’t have the courage to tell Lagios to “wipe them out!” here. I wonder if Lagios can hold back properly.
“Hey, Lagios. If you’re in this small form, does the power of your magic get weaker or anything like that?”
“No, it doesn’t.”
“I see~”
This is bad. Those magic targets probably won’t be able to withstand Lagios’ magic. If that’s the case, this indoor magic training ground will be easily destroyed by Lagios. In that case…
“Alright. Moguran, make an extremely sturdy wall in front of that target.”
‘Leave it to me~”
With a snort, Moguran exhaled through its nose. And an incredibly solid-looking wall appeared. It had a black, shiny surface. I hope it’s not made of some rare metal or stone.
People around us were murmuring in amazement.
This isn’t good. I have a bad feeling about this. If we take any longer, this might turn into a bigger commotion. I need to end this quickly. Swiftly and bang! I turned to face Lagios.
“I want you to break that wall with magic, Lagios. But make sure you only break the wall. Don’t destroy anything else.”
“I understand. But that wall looks incredibly tough, you know?”
“Is that so? If you say so, Lagios, then it must be amazing.”
“Yes, indeed. It’s made from ‘Super-Hard’, you see.”
“Huh…”
What’s that “Super-Hard” stuff? Is it some kind of rare ore? Well, whatever. Lagios is going to destroy it, so it shouldn’t be a problem.
Lagios was staring at the wall. It was thinking about how to break it.
But it only took a moment before stepping forward. Then, multiple drills of light appeared around it. Drills!?
Those high-speed spinning drills hit the wall, making a high-pitched, grinding noise and scattering sparks. It felt like I was at a construction site. Safety check, all clear!
The spectators were left with their mouths hanging open as they watched the scene. Once the sound and sparks finally stopped, the wall had completely vanished without a trace.
Nice, it looks like Lagios followed my instructions perfectly. As expected of Lagios.
“Well done, Lagios. That was incredible. Thank you too, Moguran.”
“This was nothing at all.”
“You’re welcome~’
Despite saying it was nothing, Lagios stood proudly. Its chest was puffed out. It seemed proud to have finally shown its true power. Still, I’m curious about that drill magic it used earlier.
“Lagios, what was the name of that magic you just used?”
“That would be ‘God Drill’.”
“I see. Sounds like something I shouldn’t use too often.”
This feels bad. I’ve never heard of magic with “God” in its name before. Does that mean there’s a “God Fireball” or something in this world? I’m too scared to ask.
Alright, I’ll play it off. Luckily, I had spoken quietly with Lagios. So no one else heard.
“What did you think? My Lagios and Moguran are amazing, right?”
“They’re incredible! I’ve never seen magic like that before. Could I learn it too?”
“Ah, probably not. I don’t think either of them are fire-type magic.”
I felt a bit bad for Flare-chan, whose eyes were sparkling with excitement. But there’s no way I could teach her. If she could use them, they’d definitely become a huge problem. No doubt about it. If I handle this wrong, it could lead to a disaster.
Think. Think, think, think. I need a way to keep this from turning into an even bigger deal.
“Alright, next is your turn, Miss Flare. Show me all the training you’ve been doing.”
“Of course!”
With determination, Flare-chan used a Fireball. It hit the target perfectly and made it shake.
That’s impressive. After seeing that drill earlier, it might feel a bit underwhelming. But she’s amazing for being able to use magic on her own.
I praised Flare-chan as much as I could. I was showering her with compliments. I made sure to do it thoroughly, just to keep her attention away from me.
Thanks to that, Flare-chan became completely cheerful. After using Fireball about three times, she was close to running out of magic power and was made to stop.
“Does Your Highness have a lot of magic power?”
“I’m not sure. It seems that the magic used by the summoned magical creatures isn’t related to my own magic power. Oh, and you can just call me Rufus.”
“Rufus-sama…”
Huh? Why did Flare-chan murmur my name with such deep emotion? Did she perhaps see me as someone special?!
That wasn’t my intention, but I don’t have the courage to explain that now. I’ll have to be more careful from here on out.
“Does Miss Flare have a lot of magic power?”
“They say it’s a lot for my age.”
“I see. Is there a way to measure magic power?”
“It seems like it can’t be measured precisely. In my case, they judged it by how many times I could use Fireball.”
“With that method, I don’t think they could measure mine.”
Would they judge it by the number of magical creatures I can summon? But seeing that I could summon Lagios, I’d probably conclude, “It’s incredibly high.”
In other words, it can’t be measured.
