Kicked Back to a Rich Family by the Real Eldest Daughter - Chapter 10
Chapter 10
Xie Xiangyi didn’t waste a second, heading straight for the second bedroom without looking back. She was genuinely worried that if she hesitated for a moment, Tang Jinzhi might change her mind.
Tang Jinzhi was taken aback by her action, but then she understood in an instant.
With her face full of dark lines, she watched Xie Xiangyi’s retreating back, crossed her arms, and deliberately let out a “tsk.”
Look how anxious Xie Xiangyi was. Was it really that big of a deal?
Xie Xiangyi heard the sound behind her. Her steps paused for a moment. She let out a light “ahem” and turned around as if nothing happened.
“Hurry up. Don’t you want to sleep in the second bedroom?”
The urged Tang Jinzhi was not embarrassed at all now. She slowly got up and walked toward Xie Xiangyi, staring intently at her.
Their eyes met. Xie Xiangyi blinked, trying her best to endure Tang Jinzhi’s gaze.
Tang Jinzhi realized that Xie Xiangyi was not good at refusing people. Even for things she didn’t want to do, she would try to compromise.
If she didn’t want to live together, she could have just discussed it with her, but Xie Xiangyi just held it in and didn’t say a word. Only when Tang Jinzhi brought it up did she show a hint of resistance.
Tang Jinzhi couldn’t understand this kind of behavior where you burn yourself to warm others.
But Xie Xiangyi looked so easy to bully right now, making her want to take advantage of her.
Tang Jinzhi’s mischievous streak suddenly wanted to emerge uncontrollably.
She stopped beside Xie Xiangyi, her eyes curved, and her smile kind. “Actually, I can try to adjust my schedule. How about we just forget it?”
She said it as if she were being serious.
Xie Xiangyi’s eyes twitched. She knew that Tang Jinzhi was deliberately teasing her because her reaction had been too obvious.
She lowered her gaze slightly, pondered for two seconds, and decided she didn’t want to let Tang Jinzhi win.
Xie Xiangyi thought for a moment, then nodded very calmly: “That’s fine, too.”
After saying that, Xie Xiangyi felt a sense of relief. She suddenly didn’t find it so hard to accept anymore.
That’s right, she had been prepared for this all along.
Tang Jinzhi thought Xie Xiangyi was just being stubborn, but in the next second, she saw Xie Xiangyi’s expression relax. She actually compromised and turned back to the sofa.
Tang Jinzhi: “…”
The expression on Tang Jinzhi’s face instantly cracked. Xie Xiangyi didn’t even struggle a little bit?
Tang Jinzhi immediately wanted to slap herself in the face. Why did she have to open her mouth!
Seeing Tang Jinzhi still standing there in a daze, Xie Xiangyi felt a sense of satisfaction.
It was just sleeping together. What was so hard to overcome?
After convincing herself, Xie Xiangyi felt completely refreshed.
She just realized that the problem she had been agonizing over was not a big deal at all.
She did want to live separately, but she kept thinking about it.
She felt that if they did that, their relationship would feel very strange, and she would probably constantly wonder if living apart was the right decision.
Now it was fine. Xie Xiangyi had convinced herself to face the problem directly and solve it.
Tang Jinzhi slowly shuffled to the sofa and sat down next to Xie Xiangyi, all her bravado gone.
Tang Jinzhi’s surrender was very fast. She looked at Xie Xiangyi with pleading eyes and whispered, “Can you…”
Xie Xiangyi lowered her head, pretending to look at her phone, and coldly refused: “No.”
Xie Xiangyi thought to herself, it felt quite good to see Tang Jinzhi get snubbed.
Tang Jinzhi put her hands together, looking at Xie Xiangyi pitifully. “Please don’t torture ourselves with a lose-lose situation, okay?”
Hearing this, Xie Xiangyi’s thoughts paused slightly. After two seconds of silence, she looked up, her face expressionless, and looked at Tang Jinzhi. “You’ll have to get used to it sooner or later.”
She wasn’t trying to anger Tang Jinzhi; she was stating a fact.
They were married. It was impossible to sleep in separate rooms for a lifetime.
Tang Jinzhi’s mind turned slightly, and she understood what Xie Xiangyi meant.
She was not willing to give up: “My schedule is too messy. It will affect your rest.”
Xie Xiangyi crossed her arms and nodded coldly. “Didn’t you say you could fix your schedule?”
Tang Jinzhi gritted her teeth and cursed herself for having a big mouth again.
She apologized very quickly: “I was wrong. I can change it, but this kind of thing needs to be a gradual process, right?”
Xie Xiangyi no longer made things difficult for Tang Jinzhi. She softened her attitude and discussed with Tang Jinzhi, “How about this: we live separately from Monday to Friday, and together on Saturday and Sunday. We can take it slowly; you’ll get used to it.”
Tang Jinzhi was right. It did require a gradual process to adapt.
Xie Xiangyi felt that her solution was completely reasonable.
Tang Jinzhi’s thoughts stalled for a few seconds. She couldn’t help but scrutinize Xie Xiangyi.
She carefully analyzed what Xie Xiangyi said and realized that Xie Xiangyi was genuinely thinking about living together in the future when she came up with this solution.
Xie Xiangyi was different from her. She was trying to accept their new relationship and trying to accept her.
With this guess, Tang Jinzhi’s heart was filled with mixed feelings. She could feel that she was not against it.
With such an excellent wife in every aspect, she would have pounced on her long ago. Xie Xiangyi just needed to beckon.
But the problem was that she still had the fake heiress status hanging over her, which made Tang Jinzhi very uncomfortable.
Between a “comfortable life” and “Xie Xiangyi,” Tang Jinzhi chose the former.
She had already decided this at the hospital, which was why she hadn’t dared to treat Xie Xiangyi as her wife.
But the thought of the fresh marriage certificate she had just gotten made Tang Jinzhi feel lost.
She felt that things were developing in the wrong direction.
Xie Xiangyi didn’t rush her. She patiently waited for Tang Jinzhi’s decision.
She felt her proposal was already very good. It gave them both space while also allowing them to get to know each other gradually.
Tang Jinzhi cleared all the messy thoughts from her mind. She composed herself and looked at Xie Xiangyi again.
“Your proposal is quite good, but the way you said it makes me feel like I’m going to work when we live separately.”
Tang Jinzhi’s expression was complicated. Although she agreed to Xie Xiangyi’s proposal, she couldn’t help but add an extra comment.
Xie Xiangyi’s brows furrowed slightly. She was a little confused. “What do you mean?”
Tang Jinzhi explained simply and bluntly: “Work for five days and rest for two. And it’s an eight-hour system. Well, maybe a ten-hour one for me.”
She usually slept for about ten hours a day.
Xie Xiangyi: “…”
A very good way of putting it. Please don’t describe it like that again.
It made her feel tired just thinking about going home to sleep.
After they finished their discussion, they finally walked toward the second bedroom again.
It was called cleaning up, but it was really just making the bed and putting Tang Jinzhi’s things in. Everything had been cleaned recently.
Tang Jinzhi looked at the few suitcases in front of her. Besides clothes for all four seasons, the rest of the items were mostly related to music. Tang Jinzhi also found a script in there.
She struggled for a long time, and finally decided, “Let’s put these away and find a place for them.”
Xie Xiangyi frowned, very confused. “You’re not even taking your clothes out?”
Tang Jinzhi shook her head. “No. Let’s put everything away.”
After seeing the things in the suitcase, Tang Jinzhi couldn’t help but wonder if another Tang Jinzhi had ever existed.
The carefully preserved musical scores and the script full of notes were all traces left by the other person.
If her guess was correct, that poor soul might have swapped places with her.
No, if they really swapped, then that poor soul wouldn’t be unlucky anymore.
She was the unlucky one…
Tang Jinzhi’s face darkened. She didn’t want to think about it anymore.
Xie Xiangyi didn’t understand Tang Jinzhi’s behavior, but she didn’t want to interfere.
“Let’s put them in the storage room for now.”
There was a small storage room with nothing in it.
Tang Jinzhi nodded in agreement. She wasn’t used to wearing other people’s clothes, let alone without their permission.
She wouldn’t touch those things, even if the other person would never come back.
But the empty closet still made Tang Jinzhi silent for a moment.
“I need to buy new clothes…”
Although she could wear her nightgowns at home, she still had to go out.
But she didn’t have much money left.
Seeing her look so forlorn, Xie Xiangyi thought for a moment and said, “In a few days, a professional team will come to take our measurements for our gowns. We can have them make a few everyday outfits at the same time, or you can just pick some directly from their store.”
Tang Jinzhi’s head felt a little fuzzy. “Huh? Gowns? Professional team?”
That sounded expensive!
“I can’t afford it.”
Xie Xiangyi smiled. “We don’t have to pay for it. Someone will reimburse us. Don’t be shy.”
Tang Jinzhi’s eyes instantly lit up.
There was such a good thing!
After the surprise wore off, Tang Jinzhi remembered to ask, “Why are they making us gowns?”
The smile on Xie Xiangyi’s face faded a little. She sighed lightly, her voice faint: “We’ll wear them to our engagement party.”
A bucket of cold water was poured on Tang Jinzhi, and her mind went blank for a moment.
She was puzzled. “Didn’t we already get our marriage certificate? Why are we still having an engagement party?”
Did they need so much ceremony?
Xie Xiangyi glanced at her and explained patiently, “The important part of the engagement party is the party, not our engagement.” It was a banquet for them to expand their business.
Tang Jinzhi understood. Tang Jinzhi was very displeased.
So, that damned ceremony wasn’t even for them.
“I see. We’re just going to be decorations.”
Xie Xiangyi was helpless: “…Say something nice.”
Tang Jinzhi nodded. “Exquisite decorations.”
Xie Xiangyi: “…”
