Kicked Back to a Rich Family by the Real Eldest Daughter - Chapter 14
Chapter 14
“Xie Xiangyi?”
Tang Jinzhi called out softly, trying to confirm that Xie Xiangyi wasn’t really dazed and that she had actually said that Tang Jinzhi should sleep with her.
Her sleep was interrupted again. No matter how gentle Xie Xiangyi’s temper was, she was a little annoyed now. She really, really wanted to sleep.
She turned to face Tang Jinzhi again, but she didn’t open her eyes. She was too sleepy to open her eyes. She just moved to the side again, making more room for Tang Jinzhi.
“Hurry up and sleep. I have to go back to the hospital this afternoon.” Xie Xiangyi’s voice was muffled as she buried half of her face in the blanket.
Tang Jinzhi: “…”
Since Xie Xiangyi had said so and even moved twice for her, Tang Jinzhi, who could have just left, now felt too embarrassed to leave directly. That would be too disrespectful to Xie Xiangyi.
She raised her hand and rubbed her sore lower back. She took a long look at Xie Xiangyi, who was already in a state of sleep, hesitated for two seconds, and then carefully lay down on the bed.
Tang Jinzhi carefully adjusted herself into a comfortable position. Her lower back, which had been sore from sitting for a long time, finally found relief. She let out a sigh of comfort in her heart and looked up at Xie Xiangyi, who was facing her.
So pleasant to look at.
But even the most exquisite face couldn’t hide the haggard and tired look.
There was a two-fist distance between them. This was perfect, Tang Jinzhi thought. She hoped nothing embarrassing would happen after they fell asleep.
Only the sound of their breathing remained in the room. Tang Jinzhi unconsciously adjusted her breathing to match Xie Xiangyi’s. She blinked her sore eyes and fell asleep without realizing it.
Her dreams were filled with the characters and plots of her scripts. Tang Jinzhi was too tired in her sleep.
When the alarm clock rang, Tang Jinzhi was, for once, not annoyed by being woken up. She let out a sigh of relief.
She had just finished working before bed, and she had to continue working in her dreams. Who could understand this feeling?
The sound of her phone alarm stopped abruptly with her relief.
Tang Jinzhi blinked and looked at Xie Xiangyi, who had her back to her.
The good distance between them was still maintained.
Tang Jinzhi couldn’t help but sigh at how much she had overthought before going to sleep.
Even if they did sleep together, nothing would have happened. Both of them were so tired that they fell asleep the moment their heads hit the pillow.
Xie Xiangyi, who had turned off the alarm, was also awake, but not completely.
Xie Xiangyi was very sleepy. She held her phone, her eyes closed. She lay in bed for a few more seconds. After an inner struggle, she finally opened her eyes.
She didn’t have time to lie in bed.
“Aren’t you sleeping anymore?”
Tang Jinzhi’s voice suddenly rang out beside her. Xie Xiangyi was startled. She turned her head in a daze, all her sleepiness gone.
Their eyes met. The frozen expression on Xie Xiangyi’s face softened a little. Her throat bobbed, and the daze in her eyes quickly faded. She remembered.
She was the one who had told Tang Jinzhi to stay and sleep.
Xie Xiangyi was clear-headed now and realized that what Tang Jinzhi had said about going to sleep wasn’t about sleeping in her bed.
“Mhm… I have to go back to the hospital. I’ll be back around 11 p.m.”
Xie Xiangyi barely maintained her expression. She propped herself up and sat up, too embarrassed to look at Tang Jinzhi again.
Tang Jinzhi wasn’t as awkward as Xie Xiangyi. She picked up her phone from the bedside table and checked the time.
It was 2 p.m.
Tang Jinzhi’s brows furrowed, her tone full of disapproval. “You’ve only slept for five hours.”
The expression on Xie Xiangyi’s face was a little bitter for a moment.
“I can’t help it. The shifts are scheduled this way.”
After saying that, she gathered her courage and looked at Tang Jinzhi, who was sharing a bed with her for the first time. Her voice was dry. “If you’re tired, you can sleep a little more.”
Her alarm clock seemed to have woken Tang Jinzhi up too.
Tang Jinzhi shook her head. “I’m not sleeping anymore. I’m really tired from my dreams.”
Besides, she had slept for quite a long time, not just five hours.
And she could sleep whenever she wanted at home.
Xie Xiangyi didn’t think much about it. She got up from the bed, put on her slippers, and walked to the bathroom in the bedroom. “I’m going to get ready first.”
Tang Jinzhi gave a soft “mhm.” She also got up from the bed, opened the door, and went out to the bathroom outside to get ready.
She always felt like something was off, like she had forgotten something.
Xie Xiangyi changed her clothes and came out of the room. She was planning to leave directly, but seeing Tang Jinzhi sitting on the living room sofa, watching TV, she thought for a moment and said hello.
“I’m leaving.”
Tang Jinzhi tilted her head, her gaze shifting to Xie Xiangyi’s face. “Don’t you want to eat something before you go?”
Xie Xiangyi shook her head. “I’ll eat at the hospital, or I’ll be late.”
It would take at least half an hour for takeout to arrive.
Tang Jinzhi sighed deeply, lamenting, “Dr. Xie, you work so hard.”
Xie Xiangyi smiled without saying anything. Everyone was like this anyway.
“I’m heading out.”
Tang Jinzhi, whose gaze had already returned to the TV, waved her hand. “Bye-bye.”
Tang Jinzhi was busy researching popular TV shows and had no time to deal with anything else.
She hadn’t seen any of these shows, so she had to watch them quickly to keep up with the times.
But before she could choose a show, Xie Xiangyi, who had just opened the door and left, came back, bringing a fuming Zhang Yueqi with her.
Xie Xiangyi’s expression was strange. She looked at Zhang Yueqi and said, “She said she’s here to see you.”
She thought to herself that these two were really getting closer.
She had just thought Zhang Yueqi was here to see her.
Zhang Yueqi let out a few angry “huffs,” glaring at Tang Jinzhi, who hadn’t replied to her messages or answered her calls.
Tang Jinzhi: “…”
She remembered what she had forgotten.
Tang Jinzhi looked at Xie Xiangyi, who was trying not to laugh, and then at the fuming Zhang Yueqi. She gave a dry laugh. “Ahem, come on in and sit down. I’ve already picked out a TV show for you.”
Zhang Yueqi placed the two large bags of food she was carrying on the coffee table and huffed a complaint: “Is your phone just for show?!”
After that, she glared at Xie Xiangyi, too!
“You don’t check your messages either!”
Xie Xiangyi: “…”
Zhang Yueqi complained on her own behalf: “I stood outside for over ten minutes! The soundproofing in your house is so good that I couldn’t even hear myself knocking on the door.”
Tang Jinzhi was relieved to hear that. At least she hadn’t waited too long.
She quickly explained, “I was writing scripts in the early morning, so I muted my phone. It’s charging in the room now.”
Zhang Yueqi looked at her suspiciously. Tang Jinzhi said she was writing murder mystery scripts, but she wasn’t just messing around?
“Really?”
Tang Jinzhi nodded vigorously. “Absolutely.”
Zhang Yueqi raised her chin and said in a very reluctant tone, “Alright, I’ll forgive you then.”
“Okay, okay, you’re so nice.” Tang Jinzhi continued to coax her half-heartedly, but her gaze was already fixated on the delicious food Zhang Yueqi had brought.
She reached out and felt it. It was still warm.
Seeing her actions, Zhang Yueqi turned and lay down on the sofa, casually explaining, “It’s all your favorite food. The restaurant delivered it when I was waiting for you to open the door.”
She had already figured out Tang Jinzhi’s tastes while she was in the hospital. She wasn’t picky and had similar tastes to Xie Xiangyi.
Seeing that their atmosphere had softened, Xie Xiangyi checked the time and decided to leave. “You guys have fun. I’m going back to the hospital. If you have any questions, you can contact me on my phone.”
“Wait!”
Tang Jinzhi quickly got up and pulled Xie Xiangyi, who was about to leave, back, holding her hand so she couldn’t go.
Xie Xiangyi stumbled a little. She looked down at her wrist, which was being held. Her eyes flickered slightly. She twisted her wrist and easily broke free.
“What is it?”
Tang Jinzhi took out the food containers from the bag. This was a special package for takeout for the restaurant’s VIP customers, different from the disposable plastic boxes.
“Don’t order takeout. Take some of this to eat at the hospital. Take a box of fruit too. Is there anything else you want to eat?”
Tang Jinzhi rummaged through the two large bags of food, lamenting how thoughtful Zhang Yueqi was to buy so many different things.
“Here, take a box of dessert too.”
Xie Xiangyi stared at the boxes in her hands, which she could barely hold. She looked at Tang Jinzhi, who was still absorbed in her selection, and her tone softened. “Thank you. This is enough.”
Tang Jinzhi finally stopped. She instructed, “Remember to eat it while it’s still warm.”
She really suspected that even when Xie Xiangyi got back to the hospital, she wouldn’t spend time on eating and would just eat a few bites to get by.
Now, she had something ready to take with her.
Xie Xiangyi nodded. “Mhm.”
Tang Jinzhi found a smaller bag and packed it for her, then threw in a handful of snacks. She handed it back to her. “Here you go.”
Xie Xiangyi took it. “Thank you.”
Zhang Yueqi watched the two of them interact with her arms crossed, and the more she watched, the more she felt something was off.
“Wait, I’m the one who bought it.”
“Shouldn’t you be thanking me?”
Wait a minute!
Xie Xiangyi was going back to the hospital to work again?
She had just arrived!
