Kicked Back to a Rich Family by the Real Eldest Daughter - Chapter 23
Chapter 23
“Huh, you’re back already? I thought it was twelve o’clock?”
Tang Jinzhi looked toward the door at the sound of it opening. Xie Xiangyi was changing her shoes.
It wasn’t even twelve o’clock yet.
“My break is at eleven-thirty.” Xie Xiangyi changed her shoes and came in. Her gaze lingered on Tang Jinzhi’s face for a second, then moved toward the dining area.
She had smelled the aroma of the food as soon as she entered the door.
Tang Jinzhi laughed at her. “You misreported the time. Now you have to wait another ten minutes. It’ll be better after twelve.”
Xie Xiangyi followed her to the kitchen, a smile on her lips. She had just estimated she would get home at twelve, thinking she might arrive a little early if there were no surprises.
Zhang Yueqi was yelling from the kitchen, “Hurry up, hurry up! The last dish!”
Seeing the apron on Zhang Yueqi, Xie Xiangyi’s eyes widened slightly in surprise. “What’s going on?”
Tang Jinzhi was filming a video of Zhang Yueqi with her phone and casually explained, “She said she wanted to learn how to make scrambled eggs with chives. It’s simple, so I handed it over to her.”
Xie Xiangyi was surprised: “She asked you to teach her how to cook?”
Tang Jinzhi nodded faintly: “Yes. She listened to all my reminders. It’s not a problem.”
Xie Xiangyi looked around, then at the dishes on the table, and asked, “Were you in the kitchen all morning? Aren’t you tired?”
“No, I’m not. It’s a hobby. It’s a form of stress relief, not to mention I have a little helper.”
Xie Xiangyi smiled and leaned over to look at the phone. “Then what’s the video for?”
Tang Jinzhi looked at Zhang Yueqi, who was dutifully whisking the egg mixture. After making sure everything was okay, she turned her head to look at Xie Xiangyi and explained, “She said she wants to show it to her mom.”
Tang Jinzhi winked at Xie Xiangyi, gesturing for her to stop asking questions. Everything they said was being recorded.
Xie Xiangyi was silent for two seconds, then reached out. “Then I’ll film. You keep an eye on her.”
It wasn’t that she hadn’t seen videos of people cooking in a panic.
Zhang Yueqi…
It was hard to say.
Tang Jinzhi thought for a moment and put her phone in Xie Xiangyi’s hand. “Okay. Don’t worry, she learns pretty fast.”
Tang Jinzhi actually wanted to say that the child had a talent for cooking, but she thought about the video and decided not to.
She wasn’t afraid that Zhang Yueqi’s mom would be unhappy if she heard that Zhang Yueqi was good at cooking. She was afraid that she would directly send Zhang Yueqi to the restaurant to be a chef.
That was a very real possibility.
The last dish was made very quickly. Tang Jinzhi just watched from the side. Although her movements were a little clunky, there were no problems. It was just that she wasn’t skilled.
She served the rice for the three of them from the side. After she was done, she reminded Zhang Yueqi, “Okay, it’s ready.”
Zhang Yueqi immediately turned off the stove.
She was so nervous she didn’t even dare to speak.
Xie Xiangyi tilted her head to look at them. “Should I end the recording now?”
Zhang Yueqi nodded hard. Please, hurry up.
Xie Xiangyi put down the phone she had been holding for less than two seconds, and Zhang Yueqi snatched it away.
“Hurry, hurry! I have to send it to my mom!”
Xie Xiangyi asked: “Aren’t you going to edit it?”
She was asking Zhang Yueqi, but she was looking at Tang Jinzhi.
Some of Tang Jinzhi’s parts had been recorded.
Tang Jinzhi shrugged. “It’s fine. Let her send it.”
That was all evidence. Evidence that she was taking good care of Zhang Yueqi and developing the child’s hobbies. She was such a good person. She definitely wasn’t making someone else’s kid work for free.
“Okay, let’s eat.”
Xie Xiangyi’s previously depressed mood was much better. She was happy that she could participate in something at home.
At the hospital, it wasn’t just Song Xiaoci who was scolded by their mentor. She was also lectured after she went back. She would rather be scolded than be lectured.
No one felt good after being lectured.
Home was so much better.
The three of them started eating after Zhang Yueqi took a few photos of the table.
Tang Jinzhi looked at the time and asked Xie Xiangyi, “Until when is your break? Will you be late?”
Xie Xiangyi thought about it. Although she had a long break, she usually spent her break at the hospital, just in case something came up.
“I’ll go back to the hospital after I’m done eating. I’ll be back at five o’clock.”
Tang Jinzhi nodded. She thought for a moment and asked, “Is that five in the afternoon or five in the morning?”
Thinking that Tang Jinzhi would ask her this question, Xie Xiangyi mourned for herself for two seconds.
“…Afternoon.”
She took time to reflect every day on why she chose to study medicine.
Tang Jinzhi looked at the bitter expression on Xie Xiangyi’s face and teased, “Then eat more of your feed. Even a workhorse shouldn’t be starved.”
Xie Xiangyi: “…”
Tang Jinzhi was attacking her.
Zhang Yueqi held up her phone and looked up, laughing mercilessly: “Hahaha, the feed I made.”
Xie Xiangyi glared at her: “Are you going to eat or not?”
She couldn’t be mean to Tang Jinzhi, but she could be mean to Zhang Yueqi, right?
Hmph.
Tang Jinzhi’s gaze also swept over Zhang Yueqi. The words that came out of her gentle, slow voice were extremely cold. “Are you still playing on your phone? Don’t you want to eat? If you don’t eat, go clean the kitchen.”
Facing the pressure from both of them, Zhang Yueqi’s anger instantly turned into a tantrum.
She gritted her teeth and put down her phone. She silently picked up her bowl and mumbled, “Protecting your wife. Only you can make fun of your wife, huh? Tsk.”
Xie Xiangyi secretly looked at Tang Jinzhi out of the corner of her eye.
Tang Jinzhi put a piece of egg into Zhang Yueqi’s bowl. “Eat.”
She then deliberately continued what Zhang Yueqi had said to annoy her: “It’s good that you, a little single dog, know. Of course, only I can bully my wife.”
Zhang Yueqi: “…”
She didn’t want to talk anymore. Tang Jinzhi was completely immune to her teasing.
Xie Xiangyi quickly looked away from Tang Jinzhi.
She lowered her eyes and thought carefully. Did her mentor lecturing her for no reason today count as bullying?
“What are you thinking about?”
Xie Xiangyi was too obviously lost in thought. It was hard for Tang Jinzhi not to notice.
Xie Xiangyi’s eyes flickered slightly. She asked in a low voice, “Should I continue to work at the Grade A tertiary hospital where I’m employed now, or should I go for my doctorate?”
Tang Jinzhi was slightly surprised. It was a little sudden.
She didn’t expect Xie Xiangyi to ask her this question out of the blue. She thought for a moment and asked, “Aren’t you going for your doctorate?”
Knowing that Tang Jinzhi didn’t know much about this, Xie Xiangyi simply explained, “The opportunity to stay is very rare. Maybe I’ll end up at this hospital even after getting my doctorate.”
Tang Jinzhi frowned. It was a very difficult decision to think about.
“What are you more inclined to do? Don’t compare yourself to your classmates. You’re not short on money, so you don’t have that huge pressure that they do.”
Zhang Yueqi nodded vigorously from the side: “Exactly. So of course you should continue your studies!”
Xie Xiangyi sighed softly: “That’s what I think, but my mentor doesn’t. He specifically called me to his office today to lecture me. He was probably scolding me for not appreciating the offer.”
Zhang Yueqi chewed the rice in her mouth, a confused look on her face. Was Xie Xiangyi complaining?
Was she complaining to her?
Soon, she saw the slightly angry Tang Jinzhi sitting across from her.
Okay, she was being delusional. Xie Xiangyi wasn’t talking to her. She was clearly complaining to her wife.
Sigh~
Eating dog food with your meal. You wouldn’t know unless you tried it.
Xie Xiangyi’s gaze secretly glanced at Tang Jinzhi out of the corner of her eye, secretly watching her.
