Kicked Back to a Rich Family by the Real Eldest Daughter - Chapter 24
Chapter 24
Tang Jinzhi leaned closer to Xie Xiangyi to look at the expression on her face, and only moved away after making sure she wasn’t too sad.
She comforted her softly: “Don’t overthink it. He’s definitely not just scolding you. Just let it go in one ear and out the other.”
Xie Xiangyi let out the breath she was holding and nodded. “Yeah, he scolds my junior every day. I’m actually okay.”
Tang Jinzhi’s eyelashes trembled, and her fingers holding the chopsticks tightened slightly.
She opened her mouth and asked tentatively: “Junior?”
Xie Xiangyi didn’t notice anything was wrong. “Yeah, she has the same mentor as me. She comes to me to complain about the mentor every time she gets scolded.”
So it shouldn’t be too much for her to complain a little about her mentor at home.
She didn’t even curse.
Tang Jinzhi lowered her eyes and nodded with an unchanged expression. She was a little suspicious that the junior Xie Xiangyi was talking about was the real heiress. Her face showed no emotion, but her heart was getting a little anxious.
The real heiress appeared so soon. She hadn’t even started making money yet.
Tang Jinzhi thought about how to subtly ask for the name of Xie Xiangyi’s junior. She then asked, “It sounds like you have a good relationship with your junior?”
Xie Xiangyi said: “It’s alright.”
Tang Jinzhi thought for a long time but couldn’t come up with a way to ask for her name without it sounding awkward.
“Is that junior of yours Dr. Song?” Zhang Yueqi, who was buried in her food, suddenly chimed in. Tang Jinzhi’s eyes lit up for a moment.
But the light in her eyes quickly faded.
Xie Xiangyi nodded: “It’s her.”
So her last name was indeed Song.
Tang Jinzhi sighed to herself.
Zhang Yueqi also knew the real heiress. Was she far from being exposed?
Xie Xiangyi looked at the worried Tang Jinzhi, not knowing why. She reached out and patted Tang Jinzhi’s arm. “What’s wrong? You don’t look very happy.”
Tang Jinzhi turned her head and teased Xie Xiangyi in a narcissistic tone, “You noticed? Are you that concerned about me?”
Zhang Yueqi: “Ugh~”
Xie Xiangyi gave a light cough, her gaze flickering. “I just saw you were a little distracted.”
She was indeed distracted. Tang Jinzhi silently complained in her heart. What else could it be? She was poor.
Tang Jinzhi answered slowly: “I just didn’t get enough rest.”
She wasn’t lying.
Sleeping in the same bed as Xie Xiangyi, she did sleep, but it wasn’t comfortable. She would wake up in the same position she fell asleep in. She wasn’t that well-behaved when she slept alone.
She was probably subconsciously reminding herself to sleep well and not move around. Otherwise, how could two people wake up in their proper places?
Sleeping so stiffly made her tired. She didn’t get enough sleep during her second nap either. She decided to take a nap in the afternoon.
After eating, Tang Jinzhi was pushed back to the room by Xie Xiangyi to rest. Xie Xiangyi and Zhang Yueqi were cleaning the kitchen, so she didn’t bother to be polite and went straight to bed to sleep.
In the kitchen, Zhang Yueqi was washing dishes and complaining, “This kitchen has everything except a dishwasher.”
“Can you buy one? I hate washing dishes!”
Xie Xiangyi took the plate that she had washed for the first time and washed it again. “Okay, I got it.”
Zhang Yueqi asked: “You’re not going back to the hospital? Aren’t you in a hurry?”
Xie Xiangyi shook her head: “Not in a hurry now. I’ll go after we’re done cleaning.”
Doctors also had to eat.
Zhang Yueqi turned around and looked at the door that had just closed. She nudged Xie Xiangyi with her elbow. “My mom said she wants you two to come over to our place for a meal. She knows you’re busy, so she said to come when you have time.”
“She mainly wants to meet Tang Jinzhi. Sigh, but I don’t think your wife will want to go.”
Xie Xiangyi thought about it after hearing that. “I’ll ask her. It’s normal to not want to meet elders.”
Zhang Yueqi blinked: “That’s not what I meant. What I meant is, your wife, Tang Jinzhi, resists leaving this door. She doesn’t want to take a step outside.”
“I’ve been chatting with her these past two days. Every time I mention going out to play, she refuses. I thought she was just a homebody, but she said she wasn’t. She told me that she wouldn’t step out of the door unless it was a special circumstance.”
“She emphasized it very seriously. She said that when she stands at the door and thinks about going out, her whole body feels uncomfortable.”
Xie Xiangyi’s brows furrowed. She had been at the hospital and hadn’t talked much with Tang Jinzhi. Now, after hearing what Zhang Yueqi said, she realized something was wrong.
Tang Jinzhi was resisting going out?
After cleaning the kitchen, Xie Xiangyi went back to the room. She walked softly to the bed and looked at Tang Jinzhi’s face.
Tang Jinzhi wasn’t completely asleep. She half-opened her eyes. “Are you done washing?”
Xie Xiangyi gave a light “mm” and sat on the edge of the bed. “Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?”
Tang Jinzhi was stunned for a moment. Her mind was a little confused. Why was Xie Xiangyi suddenly asking her this?
“No.”
Xie Xiangyi said: “Give me your hand.”
Tang Jinzhi woke up a little. She half-sat up and looked at Xie Xiangyi. She obediently stretched out her hand, feeling confused. She thought for a moment and asked, “What are you doing?”
Soon, Tang Jinzhi was no longer confused.
She stared at the fingers on her wrist and asked in surprise: “Ah, you studied Chinese medicine?”
Xie Xiangyi smiled softly: “Yes.”
She was still blaming herself for not being concerned enough about Tang Jinzhi. Now it seemed the other person was just as bad. She didn’t even know what her wife studied.
And she had been chatting with Zhang Yueqi for half a month. It seemed like the two of them hadn’t talked about her at all.
“You…”
Xie Xiangyi was about to ask Tang Jinzhi something, but she was interrupted by her phone ringing.
She frowned, took out her phone, and looked at the caller ID. It was a call from the hospital.
“I’ll check you again when I get back.”
Tang Jinzhi looked bewildered. “Is there something wrong with me?”
Why was she suddenly taking her pulse?
Afraid that she would overthink, Xie Xiangyi said before closing the door, “Nothing. I just heard that you’re not willing to go out. I’ll check you again when I get back.”
After saying that, she closed the door and left.
Tang Jinzhi was even more bewildered. Do you Chinese medicine doctors also treat people who won’t go out?
Of course not. Xie Xiangyi just felt that she had been neglecting Tang Jinzhi too much, so she wanted to check on her to give herself peace of mind.
Tang Jinzhi didn’t sleep well during her nap either.
It was Xie Xiangyi’s fault.
But it had nothing to do with her suddenly coming in and disturbing her.
It was because a young lady who claimed to be Tang Jinzhi’s love rival suddenly came to visit. She said she was looking for Xie Xiangyi.
Tang Jinzhi found it amusing. She had a love rival. How rare.
Zhang Yueqi stood on the sofa with her arms crossed, looking down at her and cursing, “Guan Qianqian, are you an idiot?”
Guan Qianqian retorted, “Are you standing so high to make yourself feel brave?”
Zhang Yueqi sneered, “So it’s easier for you to look down on people with your nose.”
Not only did she fail to stop Guan Qianqian from entering, she also let her wake Tang Jinzhi up. Zhang Yueqi was very angry.
They had been arguing for almost an hour. It was hard for Tang Jinzhi not to wake up.
Tang Jinzhi had a bad headache. It was a little past five. She was standing in the living room near the door, waiting for Xie Xiangyi to come back, and she didn’t want to talk to them at all.
“Why won’t you talk!”
Tang Jinzhi heard the voice and looked at the arrogant Guan Qianqian. She quickly looked away again, toward the door.
Xie Xiangyi was back.
A smile suddenly appeared on Tang Jinzhi’s expressionless face. Her voice was gentle: “Honey, you’re off work?”
Xie Xiangyi was stunned and didn’t dare to enter.
