Kicked Back to a Rich Family by the Real Eldest Daughter - Chapter 34.1
Chapter 34.1
She glared at Tang Jinzhi with resentment, her hands tightly gripping Tang Jinzhi’s two “provoking” hands.
Tang Jinzhi raised an eyebrow, “My wife. Can’t I even touch your face?”
The words of condemnation Xie Xiangyi wanted to utter were choked back, but she was unconvinced, “That wasn’t a touch!”
Tang Jinzhi teased her, “If I really touched you, you wouldn’t be happy either.”
Xie Xiangyi: “…”
Tang Jinzhi wiggled her two restrained hands and said softly, “Let go of me.”
Xie Xiangyi lowered her eyes, remaining still.
Tang Jinzhi said, “I still have messages to reply to.”
Xie Xiangyi’s brow furrowed tighter. She huffed angrily and squeezed Tang Jinzhi’s hands even harder.
Since she had already lost face, why pretend she didn’t care? Xie Xiangyi said coldly, “Don’t reply. Delete her.”
Tang Jinzhi stared at her with a half-smile.
Xie Xiangyi was extremely uncomfortable under her gaze and lowered her head, but she didn’t retract her statement.
Sheng Yanzhi must be deleted. Tang Jinzhi couldn’t be involved with her.
Tang Jinzhi leaned in close to Xie Xiangyi, looking down at her expression. Suppressing the smile at the corner of her mouth, she whispered, “That wouldn’t be good. She’s already invited me out to talk in detail. How awkward would it be if I saw her and she asked me why I deleted her?”
Xie Xiangyi inhaled sharply, looked up at Tang Jinzhi in utter disagreement, and her voice rose considerably, “You’re still going out to talk to her?”
“Can’t I?” Tang Jinzhi pretended to be innocent.
Xie Xiangyi’s face was grim, “No!”
Tang Jinzhi lowered her head as if considering it. Two seconds later, she compromised, “Fine, I’ll listen to you. Give me my phone. I’ll turn her down.”
Xie Xiangyi looked at her suspiciously. Tang Jinzhi was being so obedient, it made her feel like she had been overly sensitive.
She picked up the phone Tang Jinzhi had tossed onto the sofa and handed it to her.
Under Xie Xiangyi’s watchful eye, Tang Jinzhi sent a voice message to the other party, “It’s not social anxiety. It’s just that my wife won’t let me go out.”
Xie Xiangyi’s eyelid twitched. She hadn’t looked at their chat history; mainly because Tang Jinzhi didn’t let her.
She subtly felt that the sentence sounded strange, but the thought of Tang Jinzhi calling her “wife” to Sheng Yanzhi made her feel better.
As soon as Tang Jinzhi’s message went through, her phone began to vibrate wildly.
Got Sick Go Die: “What?”
Got Sick Go Die: “Your wife won’t let you out? Huh?”
Got Sick Go Die: “Is it because you’re sick, or is there something wrong with her?”
Got Sick Go Die: “If you were sick and couldn’t go out, Lin Ai wouldn’t have pushed you to me. Is there something wrong with your wife?”
Got Sick Go Die: “She’s not one of those Yandere types from a novel, is she? Is your situation that dangerous?”
Got Sick Go Die: “Who is your wife? She’s not normal either. This entire world isn’t normal.”
Tang Jinzhi managed to hold back her laughter at first, but when she met Xie Xiangyi’s curious and complicated gaze, she couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
Xie Xiangyi: “What are you laughing at?”
Tang Jinzhi’s shoulders shook uncontrollably. She laughed until tears almost came out before she stopped.
She blinked and said with a smile, “Laughing because you’re amusing.”
Not long after, Tang Jinzhi’s phone received another message.
It was from Lin Ai.
They had occasionally chatted with Lin Ai while talking in the afternoon, and Yu Feishuang would sometimes include Lin Ai in her complaints.
Lin Ai: “Junior, are you not acting because your wife won’t let you out?”
Lin Ai: “It turns out you’re so miserable. You really are, sigh…”
Lin Ai felt depressed for Tang Jinzhi. How did she escape one ordeal only to fall into another?
Tang Jinzhi couldn’t hold back the laughter she had just suppressed.
Xie Xiangyi: “…”
She just quietly watched Tang Jinzhi laugh, waiting for her to finish before asking, “What did you do to make you laugh like that?”
“Is chatting with Sheng Yanzhi that fun?”
Xie Xiangyi was sullen. She couldn’t smile at all.
If Tang Jinzhi was this happy, asking her to delete Sheng Yanzhi right now would make her look so petty.
Tang Jinzhi curved her lips and reached out to pull Xie Xiangyi’s arm, bringing her closer.
Xie Xiangyi looked over glumly.
Her objection to Sheng Yanzhi was seriously growing.
Tang Jinzhi showed her the phone.
“Look who this is?”
Xie Xiangyi glanced at the nickname “Got Sick Go Die” and the profile picture, and she twitched the corner of her mouth.
“Sheng Yanzhi? Is that her nickname? Then why isn’t she dead yet?”
Tang Jinzhi started laughing again. Xie Xiangyi was probably genuinely upset; her mouth had become quite venomous.
Tang Jinzhi’s laughter almost never stopped, making Xie Xiangyi’s heart ache.
Xie Xiangyi felt that even if she wasn’t jealous, she couldn’t stand Tang Jinzhi laughing like this all the time, especially since she wasn’t laughing because of her.
And it sounded more like she was mocking something.
Xie Xiangyi frowned and said coldly, “Stop laughing!”
Tang Jinzhi coughed hard a few times, biting her lip to strongly suppress her laughter, “Okay, no more laughing, no more laughing.”
Xie Xiangyi heard that Tang Jinzhi was trying to coax her, and her anger subsided a little—just a little. She was still very angry.
She had agreed not to engage with Sheng Yanzhi this morning, yet she had completely forgotten about it by the time she came home in the afternoon.
Xie Xiangyi pulled her hand back and turned to the side. She didn’t want to look at Tang Jinzhi anymore. She said coldly, “You might as well be captured by her. You’d deserve it if you were.”
Tang Jinzhi tilted her head to look at Xie Xiangyi and poked her bulging cheek with her finger.
Xie Xiangyi reluctantly dodged after being poked twice.
Tang Jinzhi thought it’s a good thing she sent Zhang Yueqi back to her room, saving Xie Xiangyi’s precarious image in Zhang Yueqi’s eyes. Otherwise, with Xie Xiangyi looking like she was waiting to be coaxed, Zhang Yueqi would definitely mock her later.
Xie Xiangyi ignored Tang Jinzhi.
Tang Jinzhi now deeply realized that the danger posed by Sheng Yanzhi was not as simple as she thought; otherwise, Xie Xiangyi wouldn’t be this angry.
She knew Xie Xiangyi’s anger wasn’t purely because of jealousy; there might be a little bit, but it was mostly because she hadn’t listened to her and had contact with Sheng Yanzhi.
For Xie Xiangyi to be so wary, Sheng Yanzhi must be even crazier than she had imagined.
Tang Jinzhi tugged hard on Xie Xiangyi’s arm and whispered coaxingly, “Don’t sulk. Just let me finish what I’m saying first.”
Xie Xiangyi turned her head to glance at Tang Jinzhi, then quickly turned back. She spat out one cold word, “Say it.”
Tang Jinzhi linked arms with her, “Look at my phone first.”
Xie Xiangyi was tempted for a second, but she refused to cooperate, “Privacy. I won’t look.”
She rattled off words, trying to tell Tang Jinzhi that she was still very angry in this manner.
Tang Jinzhi simply held the phone up to her eyes, “Look at this. I haven’t added a name for her yet. She’s a director.”
Xie Xiangyi’s gaze fell on the nickname she had just used to mock Sheng Yanzhi.
She’s a director?
Then this person wasn’t Sheng Yanzhi. Xie Xiangyi felt a little embarrassed.
Her voice was still cold and rigid, “I was talking about Sheng Yanzhi. Why are you showing me her?”
It was all Tang Jinzhi’s fault.
The corner of Tang Jinzhi’s mouth slowly curled into a smile. She put down her phone and looked intently at Xie Xiangyi, asking softly, “Do you still remember Lin Ai?”
Xie Xiangyi huffed with annoyance, “I remember. The big star Sheng Yanzhi ordered to invite you out.”
Tang Jinzhi chuckled inwardly. Xie Xiangyi was even using sarcasm. She really seemed jealous.
Unsure, Tang Jinzhi moved closer to get a better look.
Xie Xiangyi turned her head, meeting those blinking eyes, “What are you looking at?”
Tang Jinzhi backed away a little. The words to make someone happy just flowed, “Nothing, you just look good.”
She brought the topic back, explaining to Xie Xiangyi, “She said Sheng Yanzhi wants to sign me to her entertainment company.”
Seeing that Xie Xiangyi was about to erupt upon hearing this, Tang Jinzhi quickly said, “I refused. Seriously.”
Xie Xiangyi fell silent.
Tang Jinzhi said, “I don’t act, but Lin Ai didn’t know that. She referred a director to me. She wants me to go for an audition and see if I can play the third female lead. Just so you know, this is her friend and has nothing to do with Sheng Yanzhi, okay?”
Xie Xiangyi still didn’t say anything, but her taut nerves relaxed. Her body, which had been stiff, also eased up. Tang Jinzhi was holding her arm and could feel it.
“Although I don’t act, I added this director’s contact information. I want her to turn my novel into a TV series.”
Xie Xiangyi instinctively nodded. Tang Jinzhi’s idea was very good.
“But what does this have to do with Sheng Yanzhi?” Xie Xiangyi couldn’t help but ask.
All her explanations had nothing to do with Sheng Yanzhi.
Tang Jinzhi gave a soft laugh, “Nothing. Neither of the two people I was chatting with were Sheng Yanzhi.”
Xie Xiangyi was momentarily slow to react, “Then where is Sheng Yanzhi?”
Tang Jinzhi smiled. She opened her phone and clicked on the contact add page.
“Here she is.”
She had added her, but she hadn’t accepted the request.
Sheng Yanzhi had indeed added her in the afternoon, referred by Lin Ai. Lin Ai had asked for her opinion before sending the name card to Sheng Yanzhi, and she agreed so as not to put Lin Ai in a difficult position.
In any case, whether she accepted or not was her own business, and it had nothing to do with Lin Ai.
So, Sheng Yanzhi was just lying there in the add list, fresh as a daisy.
Tang Jinzhi looked at the stunned Xie Xiangyi with a beaming smile, “Really, you told me repeatedly, but am I that unreliable?”
Xie Xiangyi’s expression was a little dazed. So, the person Tang Jinzhi had been chatting with all afternoon was this director? About work?
So, Tang Jinzhi was teasing her again, deliberately not telling her that the person on the other end wasn’t Sheng Yanzhi.
Xie Xiangyi was completely sobered. Her throat bobbed, and her voice was dry, “Then who were you talking to just now?”
Tang Jinzhi leaned in close to Xie Xiangyi’s ear, “Director Yu, my new friend.”
Her lips were almost touching Xie Xiangyi’s ear. She whispered again, “Who said a new friend had to be Sheng Yanzhi?”
Xie Xiangyi closed her eyes, her cheeks growing redder. She had jumped to conclusions, automatically assuming it was Sheng Yanzhi after hearing her talk about making new friends with Tang Jinzhi.
“Why didn’t you say so in the beginning?”
She had to wait until she was angry before clarifying.
Tang Jinzhi’s answer was self-righteous, “Why should I? You wrongly suspected me first. Besides, I just thought you were cute and wanted to see your reaction.”
Xie Xiangyi gnashed her teeth.
She tucked her legs up, pushed away Tang Jinzhi, who was still clinging to her, and turned her body to sit cross-legged again. She turned her back to Tang Jinzhi, refusing to talk to her this time.
But the heavy stone in her heart had dropped. Without the threat of Sheng Yanzhi, Xie Xiangyi felt very relaxed.
This time, she was purely angry because Tang Jinzhi had teased her.
Tang Jinzhi poked Xie Xiangyi’s back.
Xie Xiangyi remained still as a mountain.
“Are you sure you’re not going to talk to me?”
Xie Xiangyi was silent.
“My Yandere wife, I think you’re forgetting something.”
