Kicked Back to a Rich Family by the Real Eldest Daughter - Chapter 35.1
Chapter 35.1
Tang Jinzhi: “You don’t want me to hug you when I take the initiative?”
Xie Xiangyi closed her eyes.
Tang Jinzhi completely forgot that she should be coaxing Xie Xiangyi right now. She let her emotions take over and continued her attack, “So, you like it when I don’t take the initiative?”
Xie Xiangyi couldn’t speak. She didn’t think that.
When she didn’t speak, Tang Jinzhi became relentless, “I hit the nail on the head? You like it this way? You don’t let me take the initiative, but you don’t take the initiative either. Well, now I know why Assistant Zhang said what she did about us. It’s all because of you.”
“You should reflect on yourself properly.”
Xie Xiangyi: “…”
She was completely defeated. Who could win against Tang Jinzhi’s flawed logic?
She needed to sleep. She wasn’t going to argue with Tang Jinzhi.
Tang Jinzhi didn’t get a response from Xie Xiangyi for a long time, and her mouth couldn’t stay still.
“Why aren’t you talking?”
Xie Xiangyi didn’t want to deal with her at all, but she found her annoying, so she simply said, “…I’m reflecting.”
Tang Jinzhi was stumped.
After a few minutes of silence, she started to speak nicely, “I thought about it, and it’s not entirely your fault. Don’t reflect anymore. Let’s chat.”
Xie Xiangyi was worn out by her antics. She slowly turned around to face Tang Jinzhi. Feeling that they were too close, she moved back a little, slightly breaking free from the embrace.
She asked, “Are you going to sleep or not?”
Tang Jinzhi shook her head, full of energy, “I can’t sleep.”
Xie Xiangyi was helpless, “But I need to sleep. Go do your work. I really don’t need you to keep me company.”
She never needed anyone to keep her company when she slept alone before.
Tang Jinzhi asked, “Then you’re not mad at me anymore?”
Xie Xiangyi countered weakly, “…How could I possibly dare to be mad at you anymore?”
She was practically tormented to death just for being angry at Tang Jinzhi.
Tang Jinzhi was pleased. The arm around Xie Xiangyi tightened, pulling her closer, “Why wouldn’t you dare? You’ve been mad at me ever since you got back.”
Xie Xiangyi couldn’t help but ask, “Was I angry for no reason?”
Tang Jinzhi was no longer so self-righteous. Her words finally weren’t irritating, “Okay, my fault. But those weren’t big deals.”
She then asked, “Right?”
Xie Xiangyi pursed her lips and replied with a faint “Mhm.”
She wasn’t going to hold a grudge against Tang Jinzhi forever.
She was just a little unconvinced.
Tang Jinzhi knew she was feeling frustrated. She thought for a moment and directly asked, “Why were you angry? What point did you care about?”
Xie Xiangyi was momentarily stunned.
“You don’t know?”
“Don’t you know how annoying you are?”
What she cared about wasn’t Tang Jinzhi talking nonsense to others; it was Tang Jinzhi teasing her.
Tang Jinzhi was silent for two seconds, “…Then you’ll just have to tolerate it.”
Xie Xiangyi rarely felt like rolling her eyes.
But she also knew that Tang Jinzhi would likely never change. Xie Xiangyi suddenly felt rather honored. Tang Jinzhi didn’t annoy anyone else; she only picked on her.
Her own wife, she’d tolerate.
So what if she was frequently teased?
Tang Jinzhi didn’t play with anyone else; she only played with her.
Hmm… maybe it wasn’t so bad.
Xie Xiangyi successfully brainwashed herself in two minutes.
She thought for a moment and spoke, actively moving past the issue, “Let’s sleep. I’m going to the hospital tomorrow morning and won’t be back until the morning after.”
Tang Jinzhi frowned and asked, “You mean you’ll work the day shift and then continue with the night shift?”
That was over twenty hours in total…
Xie Xiangyi’s voice was bitter, “Yes.”
Tang Jinzhi: “…”
She was tired of using the word ‘workhorse’.
The pressure on medical staff in the hospital was simply too much…
They slept soundly through the night.
Tang Jinzhi woke up once when Xie Xiangyi got up, and not long after Xie Xiangyi left, she also got up.
Seeing how hard Xie Xiangyi worked, she suddenly felt motivated. She quickly ate breakfast and went back to the study.
Zhang Yueqi’s friends were coming over this afternoon. After working for a while, she stopped revising her manuscript and started organizing the two murder mystery scripts she had.
One was an emotional script, and one was a deductive script.
The emotional script required six people. Zhang Yueqi had invited five friends over, which, including Zhang Yueqi, was just right for the game. The deductive script required seven people. Even if Xie Xiangyi were home, Tang Jinzhi hadn’t planned on dragging her to play, as it would waste several hours of Xie Xiangyi’s time.
The script she wrote specifically for Xie Xiangyi, she planned to let her play in early June, after Dr. Xie had successfully retired from the hospital. She would have plenty of time then.
Before Zhang Yueqi’s friends arrived, the fruit platter Tang Jinzhi had ordered also showed up. She also bought plenty of snacks and drinks. Once everything was prepared, the guests arrived.
Tang Jinzhi wasn’t initially too concerned about the identities of the five people who came to the house—as long as they came to play. However, she was slightly surprised when she saw who they were.
Zhang Yueqi looked at Tang Jinzhi’s surprised expression proudly, completely satisfied with her reaction.
Tang Jinzhi had said she wanted people with a strong sense of emotional immersion, who were smart, and ideally good at acting. So, she brought them to her.
There were two actresses, one singer who also acted, and one student who was aspiring to be a director.
The last one was a friend of Zhang Yueqi and Xie Xiangyi, the daughter of a prominent family who worked at an entertainment company. Well, technically, she was more of Zhang Yueqi’s friend, as Xie Xiangyi didn’t really associate with her much.
Tang Jinzhi suddenly felt her own status was very high; she was only looking for people to test a game…
Was Zhang Yueqi helping her find people from the entertainment industry to play?
Tang Jinzhi greeted them one by one, feeling a little confused, but her attention was focused on the student who was aspiring to be a director, as Zhang Yueqi had mentioned.
Another director.
A director of what genre?
But when she heard her name was Yu Feixue, Tang Jinzhi suddenly felt she understood something.
This person and Yu Feishuang were probably sisters.
Tang Jinzhi thought so but didn’t ask further.
She had watched a lot of dramas recently and knew a little about the two actresses: one had just won a newcomer award, and the other was a popular young actress with decent acting skills.
The two were currently walking arm-in-arm, chatting happily.
But weren’t these two rivals?
As for the singer-actress, she was staring at the two happily chatting actresses with a look full of gossip.
Although Tang Jinzhi was puzzled by their relationship, she found it very interesting.
She invited everyone to sit in the living room. The coffee table was large enough, so they sat around it. Tang Jinzhi had them each draw a script. She was the host, and with her controlling the pace, everyone quickly got into character.
After Tang Jinzhi explained the rules, she had everyone read the script. She was initially worried that someone might get bored, but Zhang Yueqi was right: they loved playing and were very focused when reading the script.
Tang Jinzhi was satisfied; not a single person spoiled the fun.
The two actresses were indeed the fastest to immerse themselves, but Zhang Yueqi’s emotions felt the most genuine; she started wiping away tears after just two rounds.
In the beginning, everyone might have been a little unfamiliar, as they didn’t really know each other, but after two rounds, they started a heated argument, except for Zhang Yueqi, who was still wiping tears.
Tang Jinzhi quietly took a sip of water. Most of the afternoon had passed. Not one person felt impatient; the emotional investment was top-notch.
The first script took a lot of time. The sky outside had already turned dark. In the end, the killer escaped.
The prominent daughter took on the role of the killer, and she played very well; she was very smart.
Zhang Yueqi, with red and swollen eyes, drank water and looked at Zou Limeng with admiration, “Mengmeng, have you played before? You hid it so well.”
Zou Limeng raised her chin haughtily, “Hmph, it’s my first time. It wasn’t too difficult, was it? Easily defeated.”
Yu Feixue stared intensely at the final ending, “Sister Tang wrote it so well! It could totally be made into a movie!”
Tang Jinzhi was initially embarrassed by the term of address, but she had adapted now, “Oh, I don’t have plans to make it into a movie.”
She didn’t take Yu Feixue’s words as simple flattery. She genuinely thought so, and she answered seriously without being modest.
Zhang Yueqi seized the opportunity and immediately started praising her, “You think so too? You have great taste! A director is already interested in her novel and wants to meet with her.”
Tang Jinzhi glanced at Zhang Yueqi but didn’t contradict her.
Zou Limeng blinked, “A novel? Can I read it?”
The other two drama queens, who were already slumped on the table, also raised their hands, “We want to read it too.”
These two drama queens, Yang Xiaoyu and Qin Lu, were the most theatrical, and there was also Ji Yunjie, who always agreed with their nonsense.
Zhang Yueqi glared at them exasperatedly. Three troublemakers who messed up the plot.
Yu Feixue was more focused on which director had such good taste, but she was too polite to ask; it was personal privacy.
“Sister Tang, I want to read it too. I’m half a director!”
Tang Jinzhi put down the phone she was using to chat with Xie Xiangyi, looked up at the eager faces staring at her, and after some thought, had Zhang Yueqi send the two currently serializing novels to them.
They immediately created a group chat.
“Sister Tang, do you have any more scripts? Murder mysteries are so fun.” Yang Xiaoyu, who Zhang Yueqi had called a drama queen, stretched her body. She found the game incredibly enjoyable, and her acting was excellent.
The other drama queen, Qin Lu, nodded vigorously, “Fun, fun!”
Ji Yunjie clapped and encouraged, “Let’s play more! Give the two of them the couple roles!”
Tang Jinzhi: “…”
Was this kid shipping couples here at her house?
The others nodded, “Let’s play!”
Tang Jinzhi was no longer curious about how these people became friends with Zhang Yueqi; they were all incredibly energetic.
Aside from Zou Limeng and Zhang Yueqi, the others also came from wealthy and influential families, though they weren’t as prominent as the former two.
Tang Jinzhi had been sitting for so long that she felt restless, yet these people still wanted to play.
“I do have one, but you’re missing one person.”
Zou Limeng asked without thinking, “Where’s Xie Xiangyi? Isn’t she home yet?”
“Is she out messing around?”
The other four faces, besides Zhang Yueqi, also looked at her questioningly.
Ji Yunjie said, “She didn’t even call back all afternoon.”
The others nodded.
Zhang Yueqi was speechless, “Are you guys trying to stir up trouble here?”
Tang Jinzhi: “…”
It was only one afternoon. It was normal not to call.
Besides, she wasn’t not coming home.
Wait, Xie Xiangyi really wasn’t coming home today…
