Killer Queen (GL) - Chapter 1
The Luo family is an assassin organization that is “greatly hidden in the city.” It was established over a hundred years ago, and the eldest son of the Luo family has served as the family head for generations. The previous head of the Luo family had only one daughter. After the death of the previous head, a rebellion broke out in the Luo family, causing great upheaval.
The woman took on the main responsibility alone, employing swift and decisive, yet experienced and ruthless methods. In less than a month, she brought all the Luo family’s forces under her control. That bloody storm still remains in the hearts of the Luo family elders. In that single month, the woman killed hundreds of people in the Luo family, sparing none of the rebels. After purging the forces, the woman replaced the key positions in the Luo family with her confidantes, and the coup slowly subsided, but the rivers of bl00d spilled still make those who hear the rumors tremble with fear.
There are rumors that the woman personally killed her own father, the former head of the Luo family.
This woman controls thousands of assassins worldwide, is known to everyone in the assassin world, and causes political figures and wealthy merchants from various countries to turn pale at the mention of her name. People do not know her appearance or her name; they all respectfully refer to her as the “Queen” of the assassin world.
It was midnight, the moonlight was cool and clear, and the wind was slightly chilly.
The grand architecture, shrouded in the night, was only a vague silhouette. The swimming pool in front of the villa was clear, and a breeze caused it to reflect the moonlight.
“Master, Luo Forty-seven failed.” Luo Yi’s voice was mellow and deep, his face expressionless, yet possessing an intimidating aura that deterred intrusion. It seemed that approaching within three feet of him would risk one’s life. However, such a person was calling the other party “Master,” and his tone and demeanor were utterly respectful, even somewhat cautious.
“Is that so? What happened?” The woman’s voice was very calm, only a slight frown creased her brow.
The Luo family has over three thousand assassins worldwide. The fifty most powerful ones remain at the Luo family headquarters, while the others are assigned to branch organizations in various places. These fifty people are ranked by strength, from Luo One to Luo Fifty; the higher the rank, the stronger the skill. The assassins at the headquarters are the elite of the elite, known throughout the assassin world for their clean and efficient work, never having failed a mission. Although Luo Forty-seven was lower-ranked, his previous twenty-seven missions were completed cleanly and flawlessly.
Luo Yi gestured, and Luo Thirteen and Luo Fourteen brought the person forward, escorting him.
Luo Forty-seven was pale, his eyes unfocused, his hands were tied behind his back, and he looked thoroughly disgraced. Seeing the woman’s sharp gaze directed at him, he trembled and shivered uncontrollably. An assassin who could kill without batting an eye, whose knife struck cleanly, was frightened into this state by a woman. Luo Forty-seven bowed his head very low, his lips almost touching the floor.
“Speak!” One word, concise and to the point, yet forceful and resonant.
Luo Forty-seven trembled violently, stammering with his lips, “They were two people. One was very skilled; the other did not make a move. They wore masks, and judging by their voices, they were a man and a woman.”
“They might have used voice modulators,” Luo Yi interjected.
“Did you escape on your own, or did they let you go?” Luo Han looked down at the person trembling beyond recognition.
“They let me go and told me to deliver a message to Master.”
“What message?” Luo Han was interested, picking up a cup of the finest Longjing tea to moisten her throat.
“They call themselves ‘Seventh Month Fifteenth’.”
The Seventh Month Fifteenth is the Ghost Festival, known by the common folk as the festival of ghosts.
“Ghosts coming to slaughter the Luo family?” Luo Han sneered, her eyes cold as lightning. “They are challenging the Luo family.”
Luo Thirteen entered from the doorway, stepping forward. “The Young Mistress is missing.”
The Young Mistress of the Luo family, Luo Han’s only daughter, and the sole heir of the Luo family—Luo Yu.
Luo Han’s face slightly changed, and she asked in a deep voice, “How did she disappear? Where are Chu Jiu and Chu Shi?”
In the Luo family, those named with “Luo” are assassins, while those named with “Chu” (初) are the Luo family’s bodyguards. Chu Jiu and Chu Shi were the personal bodyguards of the Luo family’s eldest daughter, Luo Yu.
“The Young Mistress seemed not to want anyone following her and shook them off.”
“When did this happen?”
“This afternoon.”
“Why report it only now! A bunch of useless trash! Go look for her immediately!” The teacup was suddenly smashed onto the floor, scattering tea everywhere. The study room was silent enough to hear a pin drop. Everyone else in the study dared not breathe loudly. Luo Thirteen and Luo Fourteen quickly acknowledged the command and retreated.
The connection was obvious: the challenge from ‘Seventh Month Fifteenth’ had just been issued, and the Luo family’s Young Mistress went missing. Luo Han suddenly felt that nothing was going right tonight; troubles were arriving one after another.
Luo Forty-seven gave a bitter smile. If the Young Mistress were harmed tonight, the Master would certainly take her anger out on him. At that point, death would be a relief, and a quick, clean death was probably a luxury. He was always clear about the Master’s methods.
The clock hands already pointed to midnight. The silent night was so quiet that only the ticking of the clock could be heard.
Half an hour had passed.
“Any news from Luo Thirteen?”
“No.”
“What about Luo Fourteen?”
“Also no.”
Luo Han’s questions were concise, and Luo Yi’s answers were even simpler.
Luo Yi had followed Luo Han for many years, and the Master was always someone who remained unperturbed even if Mount Tai collapsed before her. Although Luo Han was still calmly drinking tea, Luo Yi keenly sensed the Master’s anxiety and uneasiness.
In Luo Yi’s eyes, the Master had always been someone who could casually kill without a trace, someone who had everything under control and planned every move, someone who could talk and laugh even in desperate situations. But now, the Master was like a volcano on the verge of eruption—full of rage, but carrying a hidden feeling of anxiety and worry.
This was a strange emotion that did not belong to Luo Han. She was the “Queen” standing at the peak of the assassin world, looking down upon the world; everyone else was merely a tiny ant in her eyes. She was cold, arrogant, and cruel; she treated human life as a plaything and had always held it in disdain.
One in the morning.
Still no news.
Luo Forty-seven knelt on the floor, the time stretching out like torture. He knew that the Master was in no mood to deal with him right now, which was why he was able to barely cling to his last moments. Once the Young Mistress was found, his death would be near, but if the Young Mistress were harmed, his death would probably be even more tragic.
Luo Han finally couldn’t stand it anymore. She got up, ready to go out and search, but Luo Thirteen sent a message: the Young Mistress had returned.
When Luo Thirteen and Luo Fourteen found Luo Yu, she was having a great time at a bar, completely unaware that she had caused chaos in the Luo family, with Luo Han mobilizing everyone from the headquarters to search the streets for this little ancestor.
The Luo family’s parking lot was spacious and luxurious, housing over a hundred expensive cars, including many bulletproof military SUVs. For assassins, expensive sports cars were just useless ornaments; only cars with high horsepower, fast speed, sturdy exterior walls, and bulletproof glass were truly practical items that could save lives in an escape.
Luo Yu jumped out of the car, her hands tucked into her jeans. “Wasn’t she supposed to be on a business trip for half a month? Why did she come back so quickly?”
“Something happened at the headquarters tonight; Master flew back overnight,” Luo Thirteen, similar in age to Luo Yu, started to relax now that the Young Mistress was found.
“What happened?” Luo Yu asked, seemingly unintentionally.
Luo Thirteen was about to speak when Luo Fourteen kicked his ankle. Luo Thirteen immediately shut his mouth and remained silent. This matter was only known to Luo Han, Luo Yi, and the two of them. It was currently confidential information; leaking even half a word without Luo Han’s permission was a capital offense.
“If you don’t want to say, then don’t. Who cares,” Luo Yu turned back, winked playfully, and wore a smiling expression.
“Young Mistress, the Master is currently very angry. Apologize properly later, admit your mistake, and say less,” Compared to Luo Thirteen’s youthful temperament, Luo Fourteen seemed much more mature.
Upon hearing this, Luo Yu’s smile visibly stiffened a few degrees, and the playful demeanor instantly vanished.
Luo Yu pushed open the study door and walked in. She was slightly surprised to see Luo Forty-seven kneeling to the side with his hands tied behind his back, but she said nothing, quietly walking up to Luo Han and kneeling down.
The study suddenly had three more people, but it was still quiet without a sound. Luo Yu even felt that the temperature here was ten degrees lower than outside, cold enough to chill one’s heart.
“What time is it now?” Luo Han’s voice was as cold as ever.
“Two in the morning.” As soon as Luo Yu finished speaking, a slap landed heavily on her face, making her head snap to the side.
“What rule did I set before?”
“Must be home before ten.” Another slap. Luo Yu felt half her face was numb, and her ears were ringing non-stop.
“What about the matter with Chu Jiu and Chu Shi?”
“I went to a bar with friends and found them too conspicuous, so…” Before Luo Yu could finish, another slap swung over. This time, half her face was completely numb, but the scent of bl00d filled her mouth. Luo Yu raised the back of her hand to wipe her mouth, and indeed, she was bleeding.
After three slaps, even a clay figure would be angered. Luo Yu was about to flare up, but Luo Fourteen lightly coughed, giving Luo Yu a discreet look. Luo Yu remembered what Luo Fourteen had just said and forcefully suppressed her anger.
Luo Han took out a handgun and handed it to Luo Yu. “Kill him, and the matter tonight will be cleared; I won’t punish you either.”
Luo Forty-seven’s eyes instantly lit up. If a single shot could end his life, that would be the best ending for him.
Luo Yu’s face, however, turned instantly pale upon receiving the handgun. She hated killing, she loathed seeing dead people, and she did not want, did not wish, and did not hope to stain her hands with bl00d and bear the burden of sin.
“What if I say no?” Luo Yu raised her head, looking straight into Luo Han’s eyes without fear—those eyes that were like a cold pool and sent countless people into a panic.
“Luo Yi, bring the rattan cane.”
Upon hearing this, Luo Yu’s body trembled slightly, clearly having experienced the taste of that cane before.
Luo Yi handed the cane to Luo Han, and the room once again fell into silence.
“Why does he have to die?” Luo Yu finally spoke, breaking the suffocating silence in the study.
“Because he failed. I do not keep useless trash here.”
Luo Yu tightly gripped the handgun, biting her lower lip hard, her fingertips pale and bruised. She sneered, “Am I not also useless trash? Why not just kill me too?” Luo Yu closed her eyes. The expected rattan cane arrived as scheduled. Despite being prepared, the moment the cane landed on her body, it still made Luo Yu gasp for several breaths of cool air.
