Killer Queen (GL) - Chapter 10
The storefront of “Night King” was parked with quite a few black Bentley cars. Tall and handsome waiters in black tailcoats stood on both sides of the large door. Even a service staff member who just opened the door possessed such an aura, which was enough to show the high-end, grand style and taste of Night King. The entrance of Night King was not as crowded as other storefronts, as there were not many people who could afford the consumption here after all.
Luo Yu was already a regular here. She skillfully found a navy blue sofa and sat down. “Little Angel” then rushed over with a slight joyous jump.
“Little Angel” was the handsome boy from before, with long eyelashes and pure, innocent eyes, carrying a bit of cute and delicate charm. The first time they met, he invited Luo Yu to choose him. Although Luo Yu did not agree at the time, every time she came to Night King afterward, she chose this clean and adorable boy. “Little Angel” was his stage name at Night King, just like his eyes and appearance, which were so pure they contained no trace of impurity.
When Luo Yu had a new task, it was inconvenient for her to meet Yue Ye directly, and she didn’t dislike “Little Angel,” so she came to support him every time. Therefore, Luo Yu was also considered his regular customer.
“Xiao Yu, you’re here?” Seeing Luo Yu, the boy seemed very happy and excited, and his eyes instantly shone with a dazzling brilliance.
“Little Angel’s” smile was sweet, completely different from the vulgar and pretentious smiles of other male hosts. “Did you bring a friend?”
“This is Little Angel, a recent rising star. Isn’t he adorable? He looks like he could fly if you gave him a pair of wings?” Luo Yu affectionately pinched the boy’s delicate cheek. “This is my friend, Xiao Qi.”
“Is this the person you wanted me to meet?” For some reason, Xi Qi’s eyes narrowed dangerously, seemingly a little angry.
Luo Yu awkwardly lowered the hand that was touching the boy’s tender cheek and couldn’t figure out what had offended Xi Qi. “It’s not him, it’s the top host here, Yue Ye.”
As soon as Luo Yu finished speaking, she felt Xi Qi’s expression darken by two more shades. “You come here often?”
“Work, it’s completely work.” Luo Yu quickly waved her hands, looking utterly innocent and righteous.
“Is that so?” Xi Qi glanced at Luo Yu with an ambiguous expression, maintaining her usual poker face, making it impossible to tell what she was thinking.
Luo Yu was puzzled, feeling that Xi Qi was somewhat different from usual. However, Luo Yu didn’t dwell on it, as the main business was more important.
“My Little Angel, hurry up and call your Brother Yue over.” Although a bit overly affectionate, it didn’t seem out of place in this kind of establishment.
The boy pouted, looking a bit wronged. “Is Xiao Yu getting tired of me and wanting to switch to someone new?”
“How could I? Didn’t I bring a friend? Let Yue Ye entertain my friend.”
Once the boy understood that Luo Yu had no intention of switching, he happily left. Before leaving, he turned back, threw a flirtatious glance, and mouthed the words, “Wait for me.”
“Did you see any beauties you like?” Luo Yu lay lazily on the sofa cushion, with her hands clasped behind her head.
At a glance, all the people coming and going were handsome and attractive young men, of various tastes and styles.
“Not interested.” Xi Qi closed her eyes to rest, looking disinterested. “I say, are you wasting all the money you earned by taking such big risks in a place like this?”
“Anyway, I’ve always spent money like water. Didn’t Li Bai say, ‘A thousand pieces of gold scattered, and they will come back again’?” Luo Yu had never been short of money. Currently, the Luo family gave her one million a month for living expenses, which she couldn’t spend even with lavish spending. Furthermore, if Luo Yu was truly short of money, she could just ask for it directly. Luo Fourteen was in charge of the family finances, and anything under ten million could be allocated directly to the Young Master without Luo Han’s approval. Luo Han did not put too many restrictions on Luo Yu regarding money, so Luo Yu never knew what it was like to be broke.
“Spendthrift.” Xi Qi looked contemptuous. Her money was accumulated through facing bullets and fighting for her life. When she first started out, she wasn’t well-known and often couldn’t get jobs, so going hungry was common. Later, her skills became more refined, her experience grew richer, and her reputation increased, naturally making her value higher. However, since it was hard-earned money, she certainly wouldn’t spend it recklessly and without a care, indulging in a life of extravagance like Luo Yu.
“Are you saving it for your retirement?” Luo Yu joked. This situation was not uncommon. Many assassins desperately took on jobs when they were young so that when they got older and their skills deteriorated, they could retire from the underworld and live out their remaining years on their hard-earned money. After all, assassins also needed to eat and support their families.
“I’m a ‘Moonlight Clan’ (someone who spends all their salary quickly). If I end up poor and wandering the streets later, you’ll have to take responsibility for supporting me.” Luo Yu slumped softly onto Xi Qi’s shoulder, as if her bones had dissolved.
Just as Xi Qi was about to speak, Yue Ye walked over, with the angel boy following behind him.
“Little Angel, go open four bottles of Hennessy for us.” Luo Yu deliberately sent the boy away.
“This is Ye, a member of the ‘July Fifteenth’Â organization.” Luo Yu introduced them to each other. “Ye, this is Xi, whom I mentioned to you before.”
“I didn’t expect the legendary and so capable Xi to be a great beauty.” Being slick and smooth-talking had become Yue Ye’s professional habit.
“I am Ye, specializing in gathering intelligence and liaising with employers. It’s a pleasure to meet you, beautiful lady.” Yue Ye extended his hand as a formality.
“Get straight to the point, I don’t have time to waste here.” Xi Qi was a little impatient and naturally did not shake hands with Yue Ye. She always hated physical contact with others. Luo Yu was an exception; Luo Yu’s relentless pestering was something even Xi Qi couldn’t resist.
“The beautiful lady certainly has a fiery temper, but this hot-blooded nature suits my taste.” Yue Ye continued to tease, completely unbothered by his hand frozen in mid-air.
“Ye, if you keep stalling like this, the beautiful lady is going to ‘accidentally fire her gun’ (lose her temper).” Luo Yu interjected. If they didn’t get to the point, the boy would be back with the wine soon.
“The Luo family has another operation next month. I have confirmed the assassination target, but the specific time and location are unknown.” Yue Ye briefly explained the situation.
“How much did the Luo family charge?” Luo Yu asked.
“Five million.”
Luo Yu and Xi Qi exchanged a knowing look. With such a high price tag, the assassins sent out were probably even more formidable than before.
“Wu (Mist), do you think we should take this job?” Yue Ye asked.
“Yes, we should take this big job.” According to past practice, the “July Fifteenth” would only act if the assassination target paid three times the price, which would be an astronomical price of fifteen million. With such generous profit, Luo Yu was naturally tempted. Moreover, challenging the Luo family’s higher-ranked assassins was an inherently exhilarating thing. “As for the specific time and location, I will figure out a way. Same old rule, you contact the employer and have him transfer half the deposit to our card first, and the remaining half of the commission after the job is done,” Luo Yu instructed.
