Let's Do Some Questions - Chapter 1
Early autumn, even at four or five in the afternoon, the sun was still scorching, making people feel irritable.
Song Man sat on a park bench with a dark expression. Deng Wei timidly followed behind her. Seeing her sit down, he immediately stepped forward to fan her with his hand, trying to please her.
“Man Jie, you were amazing just now.”
Song Man snorted coldly, getting annoyed just looking at Deng Wei.
“Even with a Magic Fairy Wand, Man Jie is the coolest fairy!”
“You still dare to mention it!”
Cool? Cool my foot!
Doesn’t she have any dignity?
Song Man couldn’t help but kick Deng Wei, only calming down after silently repeating three times that he was her follower.
One of her followers had been bullied and arranged a fight three days ago.
Her sister overheard her talking about it and told her parents when she got home. So, she had been closely watched these past few days and could only ask her chief follower, Deng Wei, to prepare the weapons for the fight.
Of course, it wouldn’t be something like a machete, at most bricks or iron rods. Whether they’d be used or not was secondary; the main thing was the presence.
But today, under everyone’s watchful eyes, she pulled a Magic Fairy Wand out of her bag.
The whole scene erupted in laughter.
It completely fell apart.
All presence was lost.
Song Man felt like smashing Deng Wei’s head in.
How could she still be the Top Dog of Qingcheng No. 1 High like this?
However, Song Man was someone who particularly liked to keep up appearances. Even when she pulled out the Magic Fairy Wand, she maintained a nonchalant demeanor, not explaining that she grabbed the wrong thing, and went forward with the wand in hand.
Those toys were usually plastic and of average quality, but the one Song Man took out seemed to be of very good quality. It didn’t break or shatter during the intense beating.
So, relying on a Magic Fairy Wand, Song Man pinned the guy who stole her follower’s girlfriend to the ground and beat him up.
After the fight, everyone dispersed. Song Man waved away the followers who were showering her with compliments and dragged Deng Wei away.
Deng Wei apologized and clowned around the whole way, and Song Man’s anger gradually subsided.
“Man Jie, I’ll go back and tell my sister. I’ll treat you to breakfast for a month as an apology!”
Deng Wei was practically ready to grovel. This time, he had truly made Song Man lose face big time. The Top Dog of Qingcheng No. 1 High fighting with a Magic Fairy Wand? It would be the talk of the town.
“Suit yourself.”
Deng Wei breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that the matter was likely over.
When Song Man took it out, she knew it must be Deng Wei’s sister’s toy, but she didn’t say much.
Deng Wei’s sister was a very cute little girl. Deng Wei was the type of brother who doted on his sister immensely. Although Song Man was angry, she didn’t say a single bad word about the sister.
“Man Jie, should I get you a bottle of water?”
Song Man nodded and tidied her hair.
Not far from the bench was a trash can. Someone holding a stack of paper-like things walked over with a frustrated look, wanting to stuff the things in their hand into the trash can, but found it was already full.
He threw the items onto the top of the trash can, turned around, and left.
The papers fluttered down, landing on the ground.
Song Man glanced over and saw they were Olympiad Math problems.
She hadn’t seen this problem before. She glanced at Deng Wei, who was still walking towards the small store, picked up the paper she saw, and also picked up the pen that had been discarded with the test papers.
She wrote down a few formulas, calculated the answer mentally, and was about to look further down when she saw Deng Wei walking back.
She placed the pen on the bench and crumpled the paper into a ball, setting it aside.
When Deng Wei returned, she still looked impatient from the sun.
“Man Jie, going back to school?”
“Let’s eat something and go back for Evening Self-Study.”
Song Man stood up and threw the paper ball by her hand towards the trash can, landing it right on top.
Just as Chu Fengqiu was about to throw her trash into the bin, she saw the paper ball thrown in front of her.
The trash can was full, and there were some papers on the ground. Chu Fengqiu picked them up, not surprised to see they were test papers. She folded them up and stuffed them in.
That paper ball… Chu Fengqiu, on a whim, unfolded it and saw the problem on it, along with a few strokes of formulas and the answer.
Chu Fengqiu was a little surprised. She had just done this problem today and thought of several methods, finally solving it using a relatively complex one. She hadn’t expected it could be solved with this approach.
She quickly looked in the direction the paper ball had been thrown from and saw a girl walking away, drinking water.
The girl’s skin was cool and pale, making her look somewhat dazzling in the sunlight.
She closed the cap of her water bottle and casually ran her fingers through her slightly messy short hair, her fingertips seeming to sparkle with light.
As if sensing someone was watching her, she turned back and met Chu Fengqiu’s gaze from a distance.
Chu Fengqiu felt she looked familiar but couldn’t place her.
Chu Fengqiu folded the paper neatly and put it in her pocket.
She must have seen her somewhere before.
Song Man, however, didn’t pay attention to this little interlude, walking back with her bottle of mineral water.
“What do you want to eat, Man Jie?”
“Anything is fine.”
Song Man’s gaze swept over the small shops along the street; there wasn’t anything she particularly wanted to eat.
Finally, Deng Wei treated Song Man to ramen.
The ramen noodles were very chewy, and combined with the flavor of the broth and some chili, the aroma was enticing, making one’s mouth water.
After eating, Song Man strolled into the school.
She entered the classroom just in time, right as the bell for Evening Self-Study rang.
The noisy classroom instantly fell silent, with students doing their own things.
The subject teacher walked in from outside and sat at the podium.
Soon, there were hushed whispers in the class. The teacher didn’t mind, typing away on their laptop.
Song Man’s deskmate was a slightly chubby girl. Using the stack of books piled high, she placed her workbook on the desk and secretly played on her phone.
Song Man’s actions were much more open. She simply placed her phone on the desk, put an earbud in one ear, and opened a game.
“Initiate attack.”
Song Man’s fingers moved on the screen. The sound came from her earbud. She circled around to the back and took out the enemy ADC in one go.
The enemy was positioned relatively close together. After Song Man took out the ADC, the enemy didn’t turn back to counter-attack but instead moved closer to Song Man’s output.
Song Man had used all her skills. While clearing minions and waiting for cooldowns, she looked up at the small window on the door.
The classroom doors at Qingcheng No. 1 High all had a small transparent window at the top, making it convenient for teachers to see what was happening inside from the outside.
Someone was standing there, which slightly surprised Song Man.
But Song Man didn’t care. She wasn’t afraid of getting caught and continued playing the game on her phone screen.
After clearing the minion wave, she went invisible into the bush. At this point, the team fight was over.
On her side, there was still a marksman left. On the enemy side, there was a half-health assassin and a low-health mage.
After finishing off the mage, she chased the enemy assassin, resulting in an enemy team wipe.
It was already mid to late game. The fastest enemy respawn time was still over ten seconds.
Song Man pushed the minion wave and, the moment the enemy respawned, destroyed their crystal.
“Victory.”
Song Man lowered her eyes and looked towards the door, feeling something. She saw that the person from before was still there.
The corridor light outside her classroom door had been broken for the past two days, so Song Man could only roughly make out that it was a person but couldn’t see their face clearly.
She started a new game. When she looked up again, she found that the person had left.
Outside the door, Chu Fengqiu was called away by a classmate.
“You scared me! Good thing you didn’t go in.”
Chen Tong patted her chest.
“What’s wrong?”
“Were you just looking at a girl playing on her phone? The one in that exact spot?”
Chu Fengqiu paused, neither nodding nor shaking her head.
“That’s Song Man. Don’t catch anyone but her, or you’ll just cause trouble. If you see her playing on her phone, just pretend you didn’t see anything. Every time I do checks, I skip this class.”
Chen Tong adjusted the Student Union armband on her arm.
“Her name is Song Man?”
Chu Fengqiu looked a little curious.
“You don’t know her? Song Man!”
Chen Tong looked surprised.
“But it might be normal that you don’t know her, after all, you two don’t seem like the same type of people. But she definitely knows you, since you’re Chu Fengqiu.”
Chu Fengqiu thought, that might not be the case.
