Let's Do Some Questions - Chapter 19
Song Man raised her hand and placed it on Chu Fengqiu’s arm.
Chu Fengqiu’s arm was indeed cool, saving Song Man’s burning palm. That coolness dispelled some of the irritability, feeling incredibly refreshing.
Ah, comfortable.
A ball of fire suddenly pressed against Chu Fengqiu’s arm, almost distorting the letters she was writing. She slowly moved her head, indicating her confusion.
Song Man mouthed the word ‘hot’, withdrew her hand, and clasped her hands together towards Chu Fengqiu, making a ‘please, please’ expression.
In that instant, Chu Fengqiu felt her heart struck by cuteness. Looking at Song Man’s expression, she nodded somewhat stiffly.
Song Man happily placed her hand back on Chu Fengqiu’s arm, squinting her eyes in comfort.
Having such a walking human cooler beside her was incredibly comfortable. It felt like her heart had calmed down significantly.
Song Man only kept her hand on one spot. While Chu Fengqiu’s body temperature was indeed lower, she wasn’t a continuous cooling unit. After that patch of skin was warmed by Song Man, Song Man moved her hand to another spot and continued pressing.
Chu Fengqiu looked at the blackboard, trying her best to ignore the heat coming from her arm.
Yet, the heat source wasn’t still; it moved around on her arm. Finally, it became even more audacious, placing the other hand on Chu Fengqiu’s hand.
This made Song Man’s actions very large and obvious, but Song Man couldn’t help herself.
Her left hand was cool, but her right hand was still hot. She had always been fair, so she couldn’t neglect her right hand.
“Song Man, what are you doing? Sticking to Chu Fengqiu?”
The English teacher looked down and saw the new transfer student wasn’t paying attention in class, instead making small movements.
The English teacher remembered Song Man; she was good-looking, and the English passage she read last time was fluent, which surprised her. This time, she was indeed zoning out again and even bothering a good student.
Everyone’s eyes swished towards the first row. Song Man grinned nonchalantly, her hands still not withdrawn.
“Reporting, Teacher, I’m watching Chu Fengqiu take notes.”
Having been a poor student for years, Song Man was quite experienced at arguing with teachers.
“Sitting in the first row and still needing to look at your deskmate’s notes?”
“Teacher, actually, I have a slight eye problem and can’t stand the glare from the blackboard.”
The class burst into laughter for a moment. The teacher tapped the desk.
“Just don’t disturb others’ studying.”
“Okay, Teacher.”
Song Man withdrew her hands and sat properly in her seat.
With the heat source on her hands gone, Chu Fengqiu pursed her lips, feeling a rare touch of summer restlessness.
Chu Fengqiu reached into her backpack for her water bottle, then suddenly remembered something. She took out two cups, placing one on Song Man’s desk.
It was a nice glass cup with simple lines and a heat-resistant layer. Inside, red goji berries settled, and the water was a light red. When she took it out, the goji berries floated up and down, looking quite pretty.
Song Man looked at Chu Fengqiu with a confused look.
Chu Fengqiu made a gesture of cutting something with a knife. Song Man suddenly understood.
Chu Fengqiu was referring to the breakfast they had this morning. Song Man suddenly remembered Chu Fengqiu asking her what she ate yesterday, and she casually said “goji berries in water.” She didn’t expect Chu Fengqiu to actually remember and make her a cup of goji berry water.
Song Man found it a bit funny. How could someone be so earnest? She had just said it as a joke, who would take it seriously? But Chu Fengqiu actually did.
Song Man opened the cup and took a sip, finding it was still warm.
She chewed on two goji berries; they were surprisingly sweet.
Chu Fengqiu’s cup was also transparent, clearly the same goji berry water.
Song Man leaned over and clinked cups, took another sip, and placed it beside her.
Seeing this, Chu Fengqiu picked up her own cup, tapped it against Song Man’s cup, and took a sip.
Song Man almost laughed out loud. How could this person be so amusing? She seemed so proper and serious, completely different from how she acted like a hooligan and picked up trash before.
Their little actions were seen by Dong Xue, who was sitting behind them. Her eyes widened.
When did Chu Fengqiu get so close to that female demon? They seemed to have a good relationship.
She had been waiting for a show. She originally thought Song Man, being rumored to be so wild, must have a bad temper and couldn’t stand being controlled. But how long had it been? And the two of them were already sweet and close sisters?
But Song Man’s notorious reputation preceded her, so she didn’t dare to complain or say anything, only silently observing in secret.
In the next class, she noticed Chu Fengqiu’s unusual state in front of her, and her eyes lit up. She quickly asked her deskmate for the date, and after getting a confirmation, she curled her lips.
Having been Chu Fengqiu’s deskmate for a month or two, she knew exactly what state Chu Fengqiu was in now.
Song Man also noticed Chu Fengqiu wasn’t right.
During the break, Chu Fengqiu’s face seemed unwell. When she touched her arm just now, she found there was cold sweat on it.
“What’s wrong?”
Song Man whispered the question, afraid of disturbing the English teacher above.
Chu Fengqiu shook her head, indicating she was fine, and took a sip of water. But her complexion didn’t improve. Still, she picked up her pen and continued listening to the lecture and taking notes in her book.
Song Man noticed this person had great patience and was very steady. She didn’t believe that with Chu Fengqiu’s level, she wouldn’t understand the meaning of the text being taught, or the necessary grammar and vocabulary. Yet, she remained focused, not missing a single note.
Song Man continued to place her hand on Chu Fengqiu’s hand. This time, it wasn’t for the coolness, but because she felt Chu Fengqiu might not be feeling well.
Because they were close, Song Man noticed something was off.
How did she feel like Chu Fengqiu was trembling?
Chu Fengqiu’s brows furrowed slightly. Her hand taking notes didn’t stop, but her body was tense, somewhat craving the warmth on her hand.
But she absolutely couldn’t bring herself to let Song Man keep her hand on hers. She remained silent, enduring the pain that came every month.
Because she had been in contact with Song Man these past few days, she had even forgotten that her period was due around this time. Perhaps staying up late yesterday caused it to come a bit early. She usually started feeling pain the day before her period arrived.
“Are you really okay?”
Song Man held Chu Fengqiu’s hand.
Chu Fengqiu shook her head. It wasn’t a big deal, no need to specifically mention it.
“Next, we’ll have two students read this dialogue. Any volunteers?”
The English teacher looked down at the students.
Dong Xue raised her hand.
“Okay, Dong Xue, you read John. Dong Xue, pick someone to read with you.”
Dong Xue knew the English teacher would do this; it was her habit.
“Teacher, I choose the class monitor.”
As soon as Dong Xue finished speaking, the entire class’s gaze fell on the first row.
Chu Fengqiu heard this and looked at her textbook.
Song Man turned back and saw Dong Xue’s somewhat smug look, but after meeting her gaze, Dong Xue immediately hid the happiness on her face.
“Then Chu…”
“Teacher.”
Song Man raised her hand, interrupting the English teacher.
“I want to read. Give me a chance, okay?”
Song Man smiled. The English teacher couldn’t possibly refuse someone who wanted to participate, so she nodded.
Chu Fengqiu was a little surprised, watching Song Man stand up.
Song Man picked up her book, turned back, and smiled at Dong Xue. Dong Xue lowered her head to look at her book, not daring to meet her eyes.
