Let's Do Some Questions - Chapter 2
Chen Tong led Chu Fengqiu to the overpass. When they reached the middle of the overpass, she made sure their voices wouldn’t be too loud and disturb the students in evening self-study before speaking with some excitement.
“Song Man is a delinquent, you know?”
Chu Fengqiu nodded, understanding the meaning of the word “delinquent.”
“She transferred here in the second semester of freshman year. I heard she caused trouble on her very first day, skipping class and fighting, and got caught by Lao Liu.”
Lao Liu was the Dean of Discipline, a middle-aged man with glasses, a stern face, and a humorless demeanor, who absolutely detested unruly students.
“This kind of thing usually requires calling parents and reading a self-criticism in front of the flagpole, right? But guess what? She was completely fine, just had to write a perfunctory self-criticism. That’s totally unlike Lao Liu’s style.”
“Then some people said her family is very rich, that she used to attend some kind of aristocratic private school, but she was too unruly and constantly caused trouble, so her parents sent her to a public school.”
“Anyway, everyone spread rumors that she’s powerful and influential, and nobody really dared to provoke her. Within a few days of her arrival, the small cliques in the school started following her and calling her ‘Sis’.”
“Song Man is good-looking,” Chen Tong paused, seemingly a bit resentful. “People like her are really favored by fate, aren’t they? Good-looking and from a rich family, completely like one of those young mistresses.”
Chu Fengqiu thought of the paper in her pocket and the image of the girl described by Chen Tong, feeling that things might not be that simple.
“She’s good-looking, right? And people chase her. Last time, someone from outside the school came to confess to her, even rode a motorcycle, made a big scene. Guess what she did? She just picked up a wine bottle and smashed it on his head, leaving him bleeding. It was terrifying. After that, nobody dared to confess to her.”
“Last time she was playing on her phone, someone came in, knocked on the door, and confiscated it. After school, she was cornered in the bathroom and dealt with.”
Chen Tong looked scared as she spoke.
“Anyway, there’s nothing she won’t do. She’s just a female demon. From now on, just stay far away from her.”
Chu Fengqiu felt that person didn’t seem that scary.
“Time’s almost up. Let’s turn these in at the teacher’s office.”
Chen Tong took off the armband on her arm, holding a novel in her hand, which she had just confiscated from a class.
“Didn’t you catch anyone?”
Chen Tong looked at Chu Fengqiu’s empty hands.
Chu Fengqiu shook her head. In fact, she found this kind of thing a bit boring.
But as a Student Union member, this was a monthly duty.
She wasn’t trying to build a good reputation or be a pushover; it was just that this kind of behavior would mostly bring embarrassment and scolding to others. When teachers did it, students were naturally fearful, but when students did it, those whose things were confiscated would surely feel resentful, and it didn’t seem to do much to encourage them to study harder.
“Then I’ll take your armband back for you. You can just go back to your class.”
“Thanks.”
“No problem.”
Chu Fengqiu took off her armband and handed it to Chen Tong, then went upstairs back to her class.
Not long after sitting down at her seat, someone came to ask a question.
This was allowed during evening self-study, as long as the voice was low and didn’t disturb others.
“Goddess, Goddess, I can’t figure out the derivative for this problem. Help me out, save me.”
Ke Tang squatted beside Chu Fengqiu’s chair and whispered.
Chu Fengqiu took the problem, thought for a moment, wrote a few formulas, and jotted down the simplified steps.
Ke Tang’s eyes lit up when he saw it. He gave Chu Fengqiu an OK gesture and quietly moved away.
Chu Fengqiu finished her English homework and took out the paper from her pocket.
The paper still had crumpled marks and folds. Chu Fengqiu smoothed it out and used the formula written on it to perform the derivation and calculation.
It was indeed much faster than the calculation method she used before.
That person… Chu Fengqiu lowered her gaze, thinking of the way she looked at her from inside the door.
With a hint of casual indifference, completely unconcerned even when she saw someone outside the door.
Chu Fengqiu pulled back her thoughts and looked at the handwriting on the paper.
Although there were no Chinese characters, she could tell that the person’s handwriting must be very beautiful.
Chu Fengqiu picked up her pen and began to work on the other problems on the paper.
The bell for the end of class rang, and she had just finished the last problem.
As soon as class ended, Ke Tang rushed over with his scratch paper. Seeing the problems on Chu Fengqiu’s desk, he looked at them with interest.
“I have this set of papers. So this is how you write this problem. Goddess is indeed Goddess, amazing!”
Ke Tang saw the formula and steps and had a sudden realization.
This set of papers was bought by his mom, and the problems inside were quite difficult. Ke Tang had struggled with them. Yesterday, he spent twenty minutes thinking about this problem, his head aching, filling a whole page with calculation steps, but still couldn’t get the correct answer.
Now seeing the formula on the paper, it felt like something clicked.
“This problem?”
Chu Fengqiu’s finger landed on the test paper.
“Yes.”
“This wasn’t written by me. I used a different method, not as concise.”
“Huh, then who wrote it?”
Ke Tang was a bit curious. In terms of math alone, Chu Fengqiu was definitely the top student in the class; even the boys’ logical thinking wasn’t as good as hers.
“Someone I’m not familiar with.”
Chu Fengqiu smiled and put the paper away.
“Then they must be a big shot.”
Chu Fengqiu didn’t comment. From what Chen Tong said, she was indeed a big shot.
“I still don’t quite understand the problem you just explained to me. Can you explain it in more detail?”
Ke Tang said, a little embarrassed, spreading his scratch paper in front of Chu Fengqiu.
“Aren’t you just pretending not to understand and deliberately coming over to chat?”
The girl next to Chu Fengqiu teased, making Ke Tang a bit awkward.
“What’s wrong? Can’t a person not understand? Where else would I dare to think? I’d probably be torn apart by all the boys in the class.”
Ke Tang laughed and chatted, winking at Chu Fengqiu.
They were in a science class, which naturally had more boys than girls. Among a bunch of guys, the few girls were already quite pampered, and one of them was a campus belle level goddess. The boys in Class One were fiercely protective of her.
Chu Fengqiu just smiled beside them and didn’t participate in the conversation.
After they finished talking, she explained the problem to Ke Tang.
After Ke Tang finished listening to the problem, he threw his scratch paper back to his seat and continued gossiping with his classmates.
“Did you guys hear? Song Man from Class Eleven got into a fight by the basketball court today.”
“Isn’t her fighting a regular thing?”
Someone rolled their eyes. What was there to gossip about?
“I know, I know! This time she used a Magic Fairy Wand to fight, like those toys little girls use. I almost died laughing when I heard it, oh my god hahahaha.”
“Huh? Is the Top Dog’s fighting always this unusual?”
Chu Fengqiu imagined the girl holding a toy and looking intimidating while fighting, and couldn’t help but twitch her shoulders.
The others were completely cracking up.
“And then? And then?”
“Then she used that thing… and made the person on the other side kneel.”
Someone swallowed, and the smiles of those who were laughing gradually froze.
“Impressive. I really wonder what kind of boyfriend she’ll need to keep her in line.”
A boy sighed.
“Why are you worrying about that? It’s definitely not going to be you.”
“Of course I know that, I’m just thinking.”
“Pfft, no way, are you still interested in her?”
“Don’t you think she’s really good-looking?”
“What’s the use of being good-looking? She’s still a delinquent with bad grades. I heard she’s also a rich second generation. Who knows what kind of person she’ll turn out to be.”
Chu Fengqiu’s deskmate snorted and said, sounding a bit sarcastic.
Chu Fengqiu’s smile faded. She glanced at her.
“Dong Xue, did you eat lemons for dinner today?”
“Huh? No.”
Dong Xue replied subconsciously, looking confused.
“Then why are you so sour?”
Chu Fengqiu usually wouldn’t be so direct in confronting someone. To outsiders, she was even very gentle and never participated in gossip or discussions.
Everyone likes to judge a person based on their preconceived notions and then follow the crowd.
Although Chu Fengqiu didn’t know what kind of person Song Man was, she somehow felt that she wouldn’t be a bad person.
As soon as Chu Fengqiu finished speaking, Ke Tang said “Holy crap” and started laughing.
Dong Xue couldn’t keep her composure and looked at Chu Fengqiu with some annoyance.
“Why are you sticking up for her?”
“I’m just stating the facts.”
Just stick to the matter at hand, right? They were talking about Song Man’s appearance, but she insisted on bringing up her grades, family background, and character, and finally even made a definitive judgment about her future. Wasn’t that just pure sourness?
Dong Xue wanted to argue, but she held back, sulking and doing her homework.
She wasn’t stupid; arguing with Chu Fengqiu over this was simply not worth it.
The atmosphere suddenly cooled down, and the few boys who had been talking laughed awkwardly.
Ke Tang, who brought up the topic, didn’t know how to salvage the situation. He mumbled something about doing homework and went back to his seat to write furiously on his scratch paper.
Meanwhile, Song Man had no idea she had become the subject of gossip again.
Her hand slid across the screen, reaping kills in the team fight, controlling the seductive cat-girl assassin to dive the tower and get the last kill on the enemy. Before the tower could kill her, she immediately sold her equipment and bought a resurrection item. The screen went dark for a few seconds and then lit up again.
Her teammates pushed the lane and took down the tower. When the crystal was about to explode, Song Man took off her earphones, put her phone in her pocket, and went out to the restroom.
In the bathroom, she vaguely heard the words “magic wand.”
Song Man’s face darkened. She came out of the restroom and washed her hands at the sink. After she came out, that person was still laughing, like a rooster crowing.
“Stop talking.”
Her companion next to her tugged at her. The person who was laughing seemed to have their fate’s nape grabbed and instantly fell silent.
There was still one period of evening self-study left, but Song Man wasn’t in the mood to stay any longer.
She put her phone and earphones in her pocket and walked towards the outside.
“Sis, where are you going? I’ll go with you.”
Deng Wei followed, smiling at Song Man.
Song Man took a deep breath, telling herself this was her follower and it wasn’t worth hitting him.
“3.”
“2.”
“Sis, I’m wrong, I’m leaving now ahhhhhh.”
Deng Wei turned and ran, covering his face and crying.
Damn idiot.
Song Man left the teaching building and headed towards the gate.
Chu Fengqiu was about to go to the Dean’s office to drop things off. As soon as she went downstairs, she saw the slender figure ahead.
She paused, changed direction, and followed.
Song Man climbed over the wall, avoiding the broken glass on top.
As she was about to jump down, she subconsciously looked back and was almost startled by the person standing there.
The range of the street lamp was limited, and she couldn’t see who it was, but it seemed to be a girl with long hair.
Like a ghost.
Song Man remembered the person standing outside the classroom during evening self-study, also like a ghost following behind.
Why are people so weird these days?
Song Man muttered, then neatly jumped down the wall, leaving only a disappearing back view for the person inside the wall.
