Let's Do Some Questions - Chapter 6
Song Man had an impression of this person; she was the girl who had been sitting below, smiling at her just now.
It wouldn’t be good to lose her temper and cause trouble on the first day in a new class. Her dad might have just left the school gates.
Song Man put her phone in her pocket, only to find that the person was still standing beside her.
“Anything else?” Song Man looked up and asked her.
Chu Fengqiu, usually eloquent, felt awkward for the first time. Even racking her brain, she didn’t know what to say to build a good relationship with someone.
“You can play secretly after class.” Chu Fengqiu had a faint smile on her face. After saying it, she felt her words were too stiff and was a bit annoyed.
But staying there and saying more would only make the atmosphere more strange and awkward, so Chu Fengqiu turned around and returned to her seat.
Song Man watched her retreating back and thought this person was quite interesting.
It had been a long time since anyone had given her such a kind reminder, although she didn’t need this kind of reminder.
Song Man thought of a question and lightly kicked the leg of the desk in front of her.
The person in front was the girl who had woken her up earlier. Seeing Song Man call her, she still seemed a bit timid.
“Quick question, who’s the top student in your class?”
Last night, her dad had said he would transfer her to this class and make her deskmates with the top student, right?
Her mom must have arranged everything, which is why her dad said that. And the teacher said they would change seats in the afternoon. If nothing unexpected happened, it should be arranged that way.
“Chu Fengqiu, the girl who just walked over.”
Chu Fengqiu [Clarity Meets Autumn], huh.
Song Man repeated the name, nodding to show she understood. The name was quite literary and suited that girl.
Since ancient times, autumn stirs sorrow and solitude; I say autumn days outshine spring mornings.
Song Man recited the line of poetry and continued flipping through the textbook, treating it as review.
After the self-study period ended, the sound of reading in the class stopped. Everyone was either eating, chatting, or drinking water. Song Man went out to the restroom.
As soon as she left, the buzzing in the class grew louder, with most of the topics revolving around her.
The boys were happy. The campus goddess was already in their class, a daily feast for the eyes, and now another good-looking one had arrived. Although she was a tyrannical female demon king, she didn’t seem that terrifying.
Chu Fengqiu listened to the discussions, thinking about where she would sit when they changed seats in the afternoon.
Song Man came out of the restroom and went straight downstairs to Class Eleven.
She didn’t go inside but waited at the door. Deng Wei was already waiting there.
“Man Jie, what’s going on? Was that your dad this morning?” Deng Wei had been confused throughout the morning reading session. With his big sister not around, he was so bored.
“Yeah, my dad told me to change classes, change the environment, and study hard.”
Still bothering with that?
Deng Wei only thought this in his heart; he didn’t dare say it out loud.
Considering Man Jie’s consistent last-place ranking, her uncle and aunt must be having a tough time.
“Then which class did you go to?” Deng Wei guessed she might have gone to a key class. Qingcheng No. 1 High’s second year was divided into three types of classes: regular, key, and accelerated.
“Class One.”
“No way?” Deng Wei was shocked. That was a place he couldn’t even dream of.
Man Jie going to Class One was like a wolf falling into a sheepfold, wasn’t it?
In terms of combat power and ferocity, the accelerated class was definitely a bunch of little lambs.
But in terms of academic level, a hundred Man Jies wouldn’t be enough for the top students in Class One to crush.
It was simply too tragic.
Deng Wei thought about Song Man’s solid last-place performance in their class, and going to the accelerated class…
“Go well.” Deng Wei looked mournful, silently mourning for his big sister.
Song Man flicked his forehead directly. That expression, as if he was attending her funeral, was both annoying and funny.
“Alright, I’m leaving.”
Deng Wei obediently watched Song Man leave.
A few minutes later, he remembered something he had forgotten. He slapped his head, went into the classroom to get something, and hurried upstairs.
Song Man had just sat down in her class when she saw that kid Deng Wei peeking in through the back door, looking shifty-eyed.
“If you have something, just come in.” Song Man hated people who dilly-dallied; she preferred things to be quick and decisive.
Deng Wei immediately scurried in and placed a bag on Song Man’s desk.
“Man Jie, Ailan made this herself. She saw me this morning and asked me to bring it to you.”
“What is it?” Song Man curiously took out the contents of the paper bag. A transparent food container held a fruit salad, with an ice pack underneath.
Besides that, there were mango pancake rolls and chiffon cake. It was clear a lot of thought went into it.
The girl in the front row looked on with envy. Although it was already autumn, the late autumn heat was still fierce, and the daytime sun made people feel restless. That iced fruit salad looked delicious.
“She spent money again. I’ll talk to her about it later.”
“Man Jie, I still owe you breakfast. How about I put it in your drawer every day from now on?”
“No need, I eat at home. That barbecue last night was enough. And if there’s a next time…” Song Man let out a cold laugh.
If that damn magic wand appeared again, she’d beat Deng Wei first.
“Absolutely no next time. If there’s a next time, I’ll just roll away myself.”
“Good, you know.” Song Man waved her hand, signaling Deng Wei could leave.
But Deng Wei was still standing there, not moving. Song Man raised an eyebrow at him.
“My legs are a bit weak.” Deng Wei’s legs started trembling a bit as soon as he entered this class. He felt an invisible pressure on him, making him want to retreat timidly. Maybe this was the aura of top students.
“Look at how little guts you have.” Song Man snorted, giving him a look of disdain, and stuffed a cake into his hand.
Seeing Song Man smile, Deng Wei quickly scurried away.
The cake was in a box, there were three in total. Song Man put one in her mouth to taste; it was quite good.
She was a bit troubled. Last time Ailan sent her food, she told Ailan not to spend money, but Ailan didn’t listen.
When the class bell rang, Song Man put the food container away and spread her book on the desk.
The Chinese teacher was surprised by the new student in the class but continued teaching.
Class assignments were based on grades, but the teachers for each class were rotated; there was no situation where bad classes were assigned bad teachers, it was all done by drawing lots.
The physics teacher taught both Class One and Class Eleven. Seeing this familiar student, he chose to ignore her, not caring what Song Man did.
However, the English teacher teaching in the afternoon hadn’t seen this student before and paid close attention to her.
So, Song Man’s behavior of playing on her phone during her class successfully angered her.
Caught off guard by being called out, Song Man stopped scrolling through practice problems and stood up.
“Song Man, right? Where did I just teach up to?”
“Reporting to the teacher, I don’t know.” Song Man’s answer was loud and clear.
Everyone burst into laughter. Some boys held up their books to signal to her. Song Man couldn’t see clearly from too far away, and there was no need to look anyway.
“Put your things away. I’ll talk to the homeroom teacher about this later. First, turn to page twenty-one. We’re discussing this text. Can you read the first paragraph?”
The English teacher had just explained the first paragraph. Song Man was playing on her phone and hadn’t listened, so she definitely wouldn’t be able to read it. The English teacher didn’t expect her to read it either.
Song Man was originally going to say she couldn’t, but she looked around and saw only expressions of watching a good show or indifference.
Except for one person.
Chu Fengqiu.
Song Man narrowed her eyes, wondering if they had interacted before.
Probably not, otherwise, how could she have no impression? But why did this person look so concerned?
Was she a saint? Or was she influenced by her parents’ care?
Chu Fengqiu looked at Song Man, their eyes meeting.
Inexplicably, she felt that this person should be able to read it.
As if possessed, Song Man turned to that page. The words “I can’t” were on the tip of her tongue but were swallowed back, replaced by a string of fluent English.
The students looked at the standing Song Man in surprise, and even the teacher was unexpectedly surprised.
Chu Fengqiu smiled. She knew she must be able to.
Seeing her smile, Song Man sat down expressionlessly.
What the hell, she hadn’t planned to show it yet.
