Let's Do Some Questions - Chapter 63
“Uncle, why would you…?”
Song Man heard Song Qinglan’s astonished voice on the phone. To be honest, she was a little surprised too.
Why did he tell her to have fun just because Chu Fengqiu was there?! She had indescribable dreams about Chu Fengqiu too, okay?! How was that safe?!
“Fengqiu is a steady child. It should be fine with her looking after Manman.”
Xu Qinglang explained to Song Qinglan beside him. When he first heard about Song Man going to a hotel with someone, he was furious. But knowing that Chu Fengqiu was with Song Man and that the two kids were just going out to see the snow, Xu Qinglang felt it was no big deal.
Xu Qinglang greatly admired Chu Fengqiu. Although Chu Fengqiu had only just turned eighteen, Xu Qinglang felt that this girl had unlimited potential in the future. Chu Fengqiu had a steady personality and had helped Song Man a lot.
Xu Qinglang had watched Song Man’s grades shoot up like a rocket and knew that Chu Fengqiu tutored Song Man every day. Besides, he was the one who had initially gone to Chu Fengqiu to ask her to teach Song Man, so he trusted Chu Fengqiu completely.
“But Manman isn’t an adult yet. It might be a bit unsafe for her to be out alone.”
“Hey, Song Qinglan, don’t talk like you didn’t stay out and not come home when you were underage. What could possibly happen if I just stay in the hotel and don’t go out? By the way, how did you know I was in a hotel?”
Song Man was really annoyed with Song Qinglan interfering now. Then she remembered how Song Qinglan found out – she hadn’t used her own ID, but Chu Fengqiu’s.
“Someone saw you and told me.”
“Then why didn’t you ask what was going on before telling my dad?”
Why did she have to let the elders know about this? Song Man was planning to just tell Housekeeper Liu.
“How many calls of mine did you hang up?”
Song Qinglan looked at her phone in her stepfather’s hand, trying to ask calmly.
When she was notified, she was incredibly angry. Song Man actually dared to hang up on her five times in a row.
Song Man’s attitude immediately softened, and she cleared her throat twice.
“Next time, you need to tell me about things like this in advance, got it?”
“Hey, Song Qinglan, I’m not a kid anymore. Why do I have to tell you everything? My dad doesn’t even manage me this strictly.”
Song Man rubbed her still slightly damp hair irritably, frowning as she asked.
Seeing this, Chu Fengqiu went to get a dry towel and helped Song Man dry her hair.
“It’s almost dry.”
Song Man mouthed to Chu Fengqiu. Chu Fengqiu shook her head and carefully dried her hair. Song Man didn’t stop her, turning her head back to look at the phone in her hand.
“So you think I don’t manage you enough?”
Xu Qinglang’s sudden voice startled Song Man.
“Dad, you’re still there?”
Song Man thought Song Qinglan had already taken the phone, which was why she had been talking so loudly.
“Your sister is just concerned about you. What kind of attitude is that?”
Xu Qinglang rarely got angry with Song Man. When he did, it was usually because Song Man had done something he couldn’t accept, or because she had argued with Song Qinglan.
Xu Qinglang was the kind of person who liked peace and harmony in the family, and he had always felt sorry for Song Qinglan losing her biological father at a young age, so he always made Song Man yield to Song Qinglan.
In his view, this incident was Song Man running off to play without saying anything, and Song Qinglan, as the older sister, was showing concern, only to be rudely talked back to by Song Man. This seemed particularly disheartening.
“Have you forgotten who always took care of you and played with you when you were little? How can you talk to your sister like that?”
Song Man hated rehashing this the most, and her brows furrowed even tighter.
“Have you forgotten how worried your sister was when she took you out to play when you were little and you accidentally got lost? Don’t talk to your sister like that next time, understand?”
“Let me correct you, she was the one who got lost that time, okay?”
Xu Qinglang was talking about when Song Man was five years old. Thirteen-year-old Song Qinglan had taken Song Man to the amusement park. A nanny was with them, but there were too many people, and somehow they got separated.
Anyway, when Song Man came to her senses, she didn’t see Song Qinglan. Everyone around her was taller than her, but Song Man remembered the building she was standing near. After finding it, she waited there.
She thought her sister was quite silly, getting lost even though she was so old.
“Song Man, you were clearly the one who got lost.”
Song Qinglan also corrected her. She was holding Song Man’s hand at the time, and for some reason, when she turned her head, Song Man was gone. Five-year-old Song Man was so small, she couldn’t be seen in the crowd at all.
“But I wasn’t the one crying and saying, ‘My sister is missing, has anyone seen her?’”
Song Man was sometimes confused, and she was still confused now.
She couldn’t understand these unclear genuine or fake feelings.
Her feelings for Song Qinglan were far from being simply dislike or simple affection and admiration that could be generalized.
“I didn’t cry.”
“Yes, you did.”
“You’re remembering wrong.”
“You just won’t admit it.”
The two argued back and forth over the phone, and the atmosphere was strangely comical.
“I’m not talking to you anymore, I’m hanging up, bye.”
Song Man hung up the phone, muttering ‘annoying’ under her breath.
Chu Fengqiu had long sensed the complexity of Song Man and Song Qinglan’s relationship, but she couldn’t explore it at the moment.
She finished drying Song Man’s hair and massaged Song Man’s temples.
Song Man let out a comfortable sigh, narrowing her eyes in enjoyment.
“Lao Chu, I didn’t know you had this skill.”
“Grandpa used to get headaches, so I learned how to massage him. I can also massage bodies, do you want to try?”
Because they were often on the water, Grandpa and Grandma had severe rheumatism and were always uncomfortable. Chu Fengqiu used to sneakily learn from the back massage masters in the alley. She memorized acupuncture point charts and the functions of each point. If she hadn’t been so young, the master would have even taken her as an apprentice.
After learning, Chu Fengqiu would massage Grandpa and Grandma. After leaving Sulan, she hadn’t touched it for a long time, but she had been practicing hand speed, and when she went home for holidays, she would help them massage, so she hadn’t lost the skill.
“Try? Of course, I’ll try!”
Song Man lay face down on the large bed, untied her bathrobe, and lay obediently with her back facing up.
Chu Fengqiu didn’t expect her to be so quick. From her shoulder blades down to her waistline, her skin glowed with a smooth radiance.
Song Man was very fair, seeming to glow under the light.
Sometimes Chu Fengqiu wished Song Man wasn’t so unguarded around her. It was simply… hard to control herself.
“Lao Chu?”
Song Man had been lying there for a while and hadn’t felt the person behind her move.
“I was thinking if I should use some essential oil.”
Chu Fengqiu had seen some in the bathroom. The ones placed here should be quite good.
“Hmm… use it.”
Song Man originally didn’t want to use it to avoid having to shower again later, but she was also a hedonist. The effect would definitely be much better with essential oil, and it would make her smell nice too.
“Okay, I’ll go get it.”
Chu Fengqiu saw two bottles of essential oil in the bathroom. The labels were in French, looking exquisite and romantic. She smelled both and chose the one that smelled better, then walked out.
Song Man was lying on the bed, swinging her legs, waiting for her. Her back was smooth and fair, and her swinging legs were slender. Without the hotel’s pure white shorts, she looked like a large piece of delicious milk pudding.
Chu Fengqiu didn’t dare to lie on Song Man’s body, so she just leaned over her, supporting her balance with her legs.
Beneath her was Song Man’s softness, and she was afraid of crushing Song Man.
“Why aren’t you leaning on me? It’s okay, just press down. You’ll get tired like that.”
Song Man proactively adjusted her position. It wasn’t human to make Chu Fengqiu work so hard to support herself while giving her a massage.
The elastic softness filled the gap, and Chu Fengqiu took a deep breath.
Song Man probably wanted her dead.
Song Man, however, felt she had done the right thing and waited for Chu Fengqiu to massage her.
Some cool essential oil was poured onto her back, and a fragrance spread out. Song Man sniffed, unable to tell what the scent was. It wasn’t strong, but it smelled quite nice.
A moderate pressure of kneading came from her shoulders. Song Man closed her eyes, her body becoming more and more relaxed.
The cool essential oil warmed up with repeated rubbing, even feeling a bit hot when spread across her back.
Because of the temperature drop and the snow outside, the indoor heating was on, and Song Man felt a little sleepy.
But the burning sensation became more and more obvious. It wasn’t just on her back; even her chest felt that kind of heat.
Song Man even felt like the parts of her front touching the sheets were sweating, which was uncomfortably stuffy.
“Chu Fengqiu…”
Song Man half-closed her eyes, calling out to the person behind her, not quite awake.
“Hmm?”
Chu Fengqiu’s movements paused. The slippery fragrance on her fingertips also made her uncomfortable. Her cheeks were a little red, and even her forehead had fine beads of sweat.
“Don’t you feel a bit hot?”
The heat was becoming more and more noticeable, even making Song Man feel dry-mouthed and thirsty.
“Is the room temperature too high?”
Chu Fengqiu checked the indoor thermometer and found it was still twenty-six degrees Celsius, unchanged.
“Turn the temperature down, I’m so hot.”
Song Man was so sleepy she could barely open her eyes, but her body was hot and sweating, and with the essential oil on her back, it felt sticky and uncomfortable.
Her consciousness told her to go to sleep quickly, but she also wanted to cool down and then take a shower.
Chu Fengqiu got out of bed to adjust the room temperature. When she came back, seeing Song Man lying there, she was almost captivated.
Song Man seemed genuinely hot, with a clear blush on her face and sweat on the tip of her nose. She was lying spread-eagled on the bed, face up.
It was clearly winter, but the room felt like the season when ice and snow first melt, and flowers on the snowy peaks swayed due to the rising temperature.
“Chu Fengqiu, I’m thirsty.”
Song Man was almost too sleepy to function, her eyes barely open, but she was thirsty.
Chu Fengqiu quickly went to pour Song Man some water, supporting Song Man and feeding her two sips.
Song Man felt a little better. After Chu Fengqiu put down the water glass, she touched Song Man’s face with the back of her hand.
Song Man felt the coolness and mumbled for Chu Fengqiu to touch her again.
Chu Fengqiu took another deep breath, feeling that being able to hold back was truly holding back.
She used her hands to cool Song Man down, placing both hands on Song Man’s face. Song Man hummed a few times, her eyelashes moving with difficulty.
Song Man managed to open her eyes and yawned.
“Lao Chu, I’m going to take a shower before sleeping. Some of that essential oil probably got on the bed, but not much. If you think it’s bad, you can have someone change the sheets.”
“It’s fine, go take your shower.”
Song Man nodded, shuffling towards the bathroom in her slippers, still sleepy. She didn’t forget to put the essential oil from the bed back in the bathroom.
She casually placed the essential oil next to the sink and washed her face with cold water first, managing to wake up a little.
She was drying her face when she glanced at the essential oil unintentionally, and was immediately shocked awake.
Song Man knew French and could read the French text.
There were two bottles of essential oil on the shelf. One was for normal skincare, and the other was for promoting great harmony of life.
The normal one was still properly on the shelf, while the one by the sink that had been opened…
Song Man looked in the mirror and cursed expressionlessly.
