Let's Do Some Questions - Chapter 70
Chu Fengqiu didn’t need to explain. Song Man was good at math and had a decent grasp of probability, so she naturally knew how Chu Fengqiu had done it.
Chu Fengqiu must have remembered the areas where she was usually active. She had taken Chu Fengqiu to many places before, and Chu Fengqiu must have remembered them all.
How could this person be so calculating!
But this calculation was used to find her, which left Song Man feeling complicated.
“What if I was somewhere you didn’t know about at all?”
Chu Fengqiu had only inferred her habitual areas of activity. If she hadn’t been riding her motorcycle, the chance of her being found would have been minimal.
“It’s okay. If I couldn’t find you, I would wait.”
Chu Fengqiu looked like she had been waiting for a while. Her face was somewhat cold with fatigue, but she still smiled warmly at Song Man.
“Are you an idiot? Why didn’t you go inside?”
“I was afraid of disturbing you.”
Chu Fengqiu wasn’t deliberately trying to appear pathetic or humble; she just wanted to quickly take Song Man home and didn’t want to bother her.
“Idiot.”
Song Man cursed again and pulled Deng Wei, who was about to fall to the ground.
“Huh? Why is Goddess here?”
Deng Wei’s steps were unsteady, but he still recognized people and grinned foolishly at Chu Fengqiu.
Chu Fengqiu glanced around, seeing no one else inside, and smiled back at Deng Wei.
“Goddess smiled at me, hehehehehe.”
“What are you ‘hehe’-ing about?”
Song Man couldn’t stand it anymore and slapped the back of Deng Wei’s head to make him sober up.
Deng Wei rubbed the back of his head and shook his head.
“Man Jie, I saw stars.”
“The night is just too beautiful, reminding you it’s time to go home.”
Song Man hailed a taxi, got him inside, told the driver the destination, and closed the car door.
“Let’s go home.”
Song Man pushed her motorcycle out and said to Chu Fengqiu in a grumpy tone.
She couldn’t stand it when people were so considerate towards her.
“If you do this again next time, I’ll be angry with you.”
Song Man scratched her head, got on her motorcycle, and motioned for Chu Fengqiu to get on.
Chu Fengqiu nodded, her crescent eyes like the moon in the sky.
“Is it okay? Didn’t you drink a little?”
Chu Fengqiu suddenly remembered this, her eyes showing a hint of worry.
“I only drank a little. I always control myself when I ride out. Besides, it’s very late now, there’s hardly anyone on the road, and I’ll ride slowly.”
Song Man still had safety awareness. She swung her long leg over the bike and put on her helmet, handing the other one to Chu Fengqiu.
“Hold on tight.”
Song Man said, then started the engine.
The winter wind was a bit cold. Because it was winter, many shops had closed early, with only a few distant ones still lit, making the night seem even quieter.
The trees along the roadside had long become thin and bare, wrapped in ropes, like travelers waiting for spring.
Chu Fengqiu had long since discarded the hot drink in her hand and wrapped her arms around Song Man’s waist.
She liked the feeling of sitting behind Song Man on the bike. It felt like everything was left behind, and there was only her and Song Man.
Holding Song Man like this made her feel like she had Song Man all to herself.
Song Man felt the strength of the hands around her waist. She mischievously wanted to scare Chu Fengqiu a little, but she held back, her mind still clear.
After Song Man got home, she didn’t say a word to Chu Fengqiu, going straight back to her room and locking the door.
Song Man was angry. Seeing Chu Fengqiu waiting for her, she was touched, but more than that, she was angry.
She knew Chu Fengqiu was sensitive to the cold; her hands were cold even in the summer. Now that winter had arrived, she made sure Chu Fengqiu had warm patches and hot water bottles, even considering taking her to see a traditional Chinese doctor. Yet, Chu Fengqiu had stood foolishly at the door waiting for her in such cold weather. Song Man got angry just thinking about it.
Angry!!!!
Song Man took a hot shower. As the steam rose, she felt her head getting a little dizzy.
She quickly wiped her hair, came out of the bathroom, drank half a glass of hot water, and sat on a chair slowly drying her hair.
There was a knock on the door. Song Man asked who it was without stopping her movements.
“Manman, it’s me.”
“Do you need something?”
Song Man stopped her movements and looked at the door.
She wasn’t going to open the door for Chu Fengqiu.
It became quiet outside the door. Then Song Man heard a slight rustling sound and saw something being pushed little by little through the gap under the door.
Curious, Song Man put the towel on the chair, bent down, and picked up the item from the floor.
It was a postcard-sized card, with Chu Fengqiu’s apology written on it and a cute emoji drawn.
Song Man flipped it over and found it was a hand-drawn picture.
In the drawing, she was standing by her motorcycle, holding her helmet, smiling brightly.
Song Man was sure she didn’t have this scene in her memory, so Chu Fengqiu had drawn her from memory.
Hmm… it’s quite nice.
“Manman, I was wrong. I absolutely won’t do that again next time.”
Chu Fengqiu’s voice came through the door, drilling into Song Man’s ears and making her heart tickle a little.
“Won’t do what?”
“Even if I wait for you, I’ll wait somewhere warm.”
“What about summer?”
“Somewhere cool.”
“That’s more like it.”
Song Man snorted lightly, looking at the crying emoji on the card, silently amusing herself.
Outside the door, Chu Fengqiu’s heart had already melted into a gentle spring stream. How could there be such a cute person in the world?
Song Man probably didn’t realize that she had already made a winter and summer agreement with her in her words.
“I’ll reluctantly forgive you this time.”
Song Man felt incredibly smug. If Xu Qinglang knew about this, he would definitely hit her on the head. Chu Fengqiu ran to find her late at night and still had to apologize because Song Man was angry.
“Then… I’ll go to school after I wake up tomorrow. Don’t call me tomorrow.”
Except for holidays, Song Man hadn’t been late in a long time.
“Okay.”
Chu Fengqiu naturally agreed. With Song Man’s ability, missing that morning study session and a few classes was no problem at all.
“Then… goodnight.”
Chu Fengqiu’s voice was soft, and it inadvertently plucked at Song Man’s heartstrings again.
“Goodnight.”
Song Man said goodnight through the door and placed the card on her desk.
Song Man ran to her bed, looked at the card on the desk, and turned her head away.
A minute later, Song Man put the card on the cabinet by her bed.
On the desk, right? What if it gets dirty? Just…
Anyway, just put it next to the bed.
Song Man lowered her head and continued playing on her phone. Three minutes later, she looked at the card by the bed again.
What if she accidentally knocked it off? What if water accidentally… Ugh, so annoying.
Song Man got up again and finally decided to put the card in the glass display case for her figurines in her room.
Hmm, this is perfect. Song Man looked at the card leaning against Iron Man and clapped her hands in satisfaction.
Wait… if Chu Fengqiu saw this, would she think Song Man valued her a lot?
Should she cover it with something?
But wouldn’t that be too obvious?
Song Man fell into deep thought. In the end, she didn’t separate the card and Iron Man and flopped onto her bed.
She wasn’t in the mood to play on her phone. There weren’t many things happening day-to-day, but it just felt messy and annoying.
Actually, there wasn’t anything particularly bothersome, but just one thing could make her unhappy all day.
Song Man opened the small warming cabinet next to her. When the weather got colder, Housekeeper Liu had already moved the mini-fridge out of her room and replaced it with a small warming cabinet.
After drinking a cup of warm soy milk, Song Man felt much better. She rubbed her stomach and stood by the window for a while.
She glanced at the things in the glass case and smiled.
Goodnight, Iron Man. Goodnight, Spider-Man. Goodnight, Mai Shiranui… Goodnight, Chu Fengqiu.
Song Man turned off the light and closed her eyes the moment the light went out.
Song Man intended to sleep until she woke up naturally, but for some reason, she inexplicably opened her eyes at a certain time and was particularly clear-headed.
She looked at the clock on the wall, six-thirty.
It was still very early.
Song Man wanted to lie back down and continue sleeping, but she blinked and felt no sleepiness at all.
She simply got up, washed up, opened the door, and saw Housekeeper Liu eating breakfast downstairs, holding a bowl.
“Aunt Liu, where’s Chu Fengqiu?”
“Miss Chu has already left, just a few minutes ago. Miss, should I get you another portion of breakfast?”
“Did the driver take her?”
“No, Miss Chu said she could go to school by herself today.”
“This idiot, how is she going to school?”
Song Man muttered, ran back to her room to get dressed, and then clattered downstairs.
“Miss, breakfast…”
“No need!”
Song Man opened the door and ran out, leaving Housekeeper Liu’s words behind.
The driver saw her and was about to go to the garage to get the car, but she waved him off and sprinted out in a hundred-meter dash.
Actually, having the driver take her would have been faster to catch up with Chu Fengqiu, but Song Man inexplicably didn’t want to. She didn’t want to waste that little bit of time, nor did she want anyone else to be between her and Chu Fengqiu.
Song Man had good stamina. After continuous sprinting, she finally saw Chu Fengqiu walking ahead unhurriedly.
“Chu Fengqiu!”
Chu Fengqiu happened to hear the sound and turned around to see Song Man running towards her.
Unlike the time at the sports meet, when she was bathed in the light of glory, this was just an ordinary winter morning, an ordinary early hour, yet it became extraordinary because of one person.
It was as if the air became fresher, the sunlight warmer, and even the ordinary bushes along the road seemed to gain a few points of vitality and lushness.
“Why did you run over? Didn’t you say you weren’t getting up that early today?”
“I just wasn’t sleepy anymore. Oh right, why didn’t you let the driver take you?”
Chu Fengqiu smiled and shook her head, raising her hand to tidy Song Man’s messy hair and collar.
“If I had done that, I wouldn’t have seen you, would I?”
Chu Fengqiu wasn’t a prophet, so she naturally couldn’t have known Song Man would come looking for her. She just didn’t want to trouble the Song family.
On the way out of the villa area, with every step, she was thinking about how to make herself stronger and how to make choices in the future.
She wouldn’t tell others these things, but she knew she should have a plan.
“Do you have foresight or something? Then how were you planning to get to school? Take a taxi? It couldn’t be walking, right?”
Song Man felt a bit awkward being teased by Chu Fengqiu’s sweet talk. After they had opened up, Chu Fengqiu was simply undisguised, her eyes full of tender affection when looking at her, deliberately trying to make her heart race and bl00d pressure rise.
Chu Fengqiu pointed to the shared bikes. Song Man gave an “OK” sign.
Since middle school, Song Man hadn’t ridden a bicycle; it had always been motorcycles or cars.
There was a shared electric bike, slightly more expensive than a regular shared bike, but in Song Man’s opinion, they were all quite cheap. She scanned the code and got on.
They rode one after another on the side road, looking at the street scenery, the pedestrians buying breakfast, the students in school uniforms, the passing cars. For the first time, Song Man felt that these ordinary, mundane scenes seemed quite interesting too.
