Let's Do Some Questions - Chapter 8
Because of that sentence, Song Man’s opinion of Chu Fengqiu changed.
She thought Chu Fengqiu was the type of girl who was very popular, easy to talk to, and smiled at everyone. She didn’t expect her to be so improper.
Chu Fengqiu only said that because a mischievous streak suddenly appeared. Normally, she was someone who never used foul language.
“It’s not you anyway, let go.”
Song Man glared at Chu Fengqiu, telling her to take her hand off hers.
Even though their voices were very quiet, they still attracted the attention of the surrounding classmates in the silent classroom.
Song Man noticed the looks from the classmates nearby, put her phone in the drawer, and shook her hand.
…She didn’t shake it off.
Chu Fengqiu didn’t push it too far and let go.
“You don’t need to worry about me, I won’t bother anyone else.”
Song Man explained patiently.
“But you’ll bother yourself.”
Chu Fengqiu wasn’t someone who had to meddle in others’ business, but she was the class monitor, so she couldn’t just watch someone break the rules right in front of her.
Plus, there was a secret about Song Man that she wanted to know.
“That’s my own business, it has nothing to do with you.”
“How can it have nothing to do with me? The teacher asked me to look after your studies. I’m responsible for you.”
Chu Fengqiu specifically emphasized the last two words, and combined with her serious expression, it gave Song Man a strange feeling.
“So, did you take money from my parents?”
“Huh? How could I?”
Chu Fengqiu looked surprised, not understanding why she would say that.
Song Man just asked casually. After all, she got into this class through the power of money. Her dad’s words implied everything was arranged, so Song Man thought they had bribed Chu Fengqiu to specifically supervise her.
“Then why are you being so responsible?”
Since she didn’t take money or benefits, why take on this task?
“Because I’m the class monitor.”
Chu Fengqiu said it confidently.
Of course, that wasn’t the real reason.
There’s nothing much to investigate about someone pretending to be smart, but someone pretending to be foolish is quite intriguing.
Chu Fengqiu wanted to know the secret behind Song Man. Just Song Man being there was enough to attract her attention.
Song Man frowned and reached out to get her phone again.
Seeing this, Chu Fengqiu grabbed her wrist. Song Man had anticipated her doing this and tried to pull her wrist away, but unexpectedly, Chu Fengqiu’s hand slid down and touched her palm.
Chu Fengqiu was also startled for a moment, but her fingers quickly slipped between Song Man’s, interlocking with hers.
Song Man was shocked again.
What is this girl doing?
“This way you can’t get it.”
Chu Fengqiu raised an eyebrow slightly, a hint of triumphant smile on her face.
The skin-to-skin contact brought a coolness that prevented Song Man from resisting immediately.
Song Man looked fair-skinned, but her body was actually prone to heat. In the summer, her hands were like furnaces, very uncomfortable. Chu Fengqiu’s palm was ice-cold, at least compared to hers, and it felt quite comfortable to touch.
Song Man was about to say something else when the person behind her stirred.
“Tsk, if you want to talk, go outside, okay? You’re so noisy.”
Dong Xue didn’t look up, but everyone around knew who she was targeting.
Song Man frowned. Since when did others get to talk to her so rudely?
But it was true that they were talking first. Song Man’s lips curved downwards, and she made a mental note of the person behind her.
Chu Fengqiu’s hand hadn’t been withdrawn yet, still interlocked with Song Man’s inside the drawer.
Song Man shook her hand slightly, indicating it was okay now.
Chu Fengqiu gave her a look, asking if she was really done playing?
Song Man nodded.
She was impressed by her.
Chu Fengqiu’s hand withdrew from hers. The original coolness turned back into oppressive heat. For a moment, Song Man even felt a little reluctant.
Then she felt a bit stupid.
Unable to play on her phone, Song Man simply opened her math workbook.
She really looked like she was reading the workbook, looking at every problem but not writing anything, perfectly embodying how an underachiever looks at problems and doesn’t know any of them.
Chu Fengqiu was watching her.
Song Man’s expression was nonchalant, and she flipped pages quite quickly, clearly telling anyone watching that she was just randomly flipping through.
When she saw a problem, Song Man slowed down, staring at it without blinking for a while. Calculations and equations appeared in her mind, she mentally calculated the answer, and continued deriving downwards.
Chu Fengqiu noticed her pause, glanced at the page number, and immediately turned to the same page. She saw the problem and looked at Song Man with a hint of suspicion.
Because she learned quickly, Chu Fengqiu had studied and analyzed the later content long ago, so she naturally knew this problem.
This problem was one of the most difficult in this unit. It required using formulas learned in this unit and previous ones, the algorithm was complex, and it took some time.
Song Man’s skipping speed was about the same everywhere, except for this pause. Didn’t that mean she understood it?
Chu Fengqiu felt the paper she had kept in her pocket and hadn’t taken out yet subtly heating up. She thought for a moment and took it out.
She spread the paper flat. The other problems on it were already filled in with neat handwriting. Only the formula next to that specific problem was written casually, with a bold and unrestrained stroke.
Song Man next to her seemed to have finished looking at that problem and was looking elsewhere.
Chu Fengqiu deliberately let the paper fall to the ground. As she bent down to pick it up, she dropped it at Song Man’s feet.
“Could you help me pick up the paper? It’s under your feet, I can’t reach it.”
Chu Fengqiu asked softly.
Song Man glanced at her, then bent down to help Chu Fengqiu pick up the paper.
When she saw the content, she felt it looked familiar.
But where it was familiar, she couldn’t quite remember.
Song Man straightened up while looking at it. Seeing the familiar handwriting of the formula, a light bulb went off in her mind, she remembered what happened, and her body immediately stiffened.
Didn’t she throw away what she casually wrote in the park that day? How did it end up with Chu Fengqiu?
The problem, the handwriting, and the creases on the paper… there was no mistake… it must be it.
Song Man’s heart churned like a stormy sea for a moment, but her expression remained steady as an old dog.
“What’s wrong?”
Chu Fengqiu observed Song Man’s expression but couldn’t see any clues.
That shouldn’t be… She was sure this was what Song Man had thrown.
“Your academic ace papers are quite advanced, I can’t understand them at all.”
Song Man shrugged and returned the paper to Chu Fengqiu.
Her gaze was complex, adding another layer to her evaluation of Chu Fengqiu.
Who knew? Some people are young, beautiful, and have the aura of an academic god, but behind the scenes, they not only act like hooligans but also pick up trash.
Tsk tsk tsk.
