Let's Do Some Questions - Chapter 83
“Then I’ll work hard to trick you into giving me everything.”
Chu Fengqiu held Song Man’s hand. Song Man hummed lightly, indicating that was more like it.
“Oh right, do you have the original text of that experiment?”
Although Song Man’s main focus wasn’t physics, she was interested in it. Her knowledge of quantum physics was relatively shallow; she was more familiar with relativity. She wanted to read the report.
“Yes, I asked a friend to help me buy it.”
The report on the experiment process was entirely in English, but Song Man’s good English meant there was no obstacle. She stood beside Chu Fengqiu and read the report.
“Sit on the bed.”
“No, I haven’t showered yet.”
Song Man felt like she had sweated, and even though it was winter, she didn’t want to sit on Chu Fengqiu’s clean bed.
“Perfect, then you’ll have even more of your scent.”
Chu Fengqiu pulled Song Man onto the bed, earning a roll of the eyes from Song Man.
“Your tone is really perverted.”
“Because it’s you, I want everything. Besides, your scent makes me feel more at ease.”
“Ugh.”
She had never met such a shameless person!
Song Man quickly scanned the full text, asking Chu Fengqiu, who was sitting next to her, about some technical terms.
The experimental process was quite complex, involving superconductivity, which was beyond Song Man’s understanding. But to put it simply, the experiment involved three states: ground state, first excited state, and second excited state. The main focus was studying the quantum transition between the first excited state and the ground state, as well as the second excited state, but it was measured indirectly through the second excited state, leading to the conclusion that there was a process involved. Song Man felt quite shocked after reading the full text.
“After reading it, I feel like I still have so much to learn. So, let’s do some problems.”
Song Man’s enthusiasm for studying soared. Chu Fengqiu suddenly felt she shouldn’t have wasted such a good atmosphere. It was supposed to be a romantic atmosphere, but it ended up turning into a study session.
But if Song Man wanted to study, Chu Fengqiu would naturally join her.
They studied late into the night before Song Man stretched and said goodnight to Chu Fengqiu.
“See you tomorrow.”
“Don’t wake me up tomorrow. In the afternoon, we’ll do something big together.”
“Okay.”
Chu Fengqiu was always like this, seemingly without excessive curiosity, not even asking what the big thing was.
“Aren’t you curious what it is?”
“Anything is fine, as long as I’m with you.”
Damn, how could this person be so smooth!
The next day, when Song Man woke up, it was almost noon. As she left her room, she happened to see Chu Fengqiu returning.
“You went to school?”
“Yeah, I talked to the teacher about the Winter Camp and asked for leave.”
“Okay.”
Chu Fengqiu came upstairs with her backpack, rubbed Song Man’s messy hair, and noticed the red streaks in her eyes.
“Did you play games again last night?”
“No, I had dreams and didn’t sleep well.”
Song Man woke up several times, but couldn’t fight off the drowsiness. She slept fitfully, had several dreams, and surprisingly remembered them clearly after waking up.
“What did you dream about?”
Chu Fengqiu touched Song Man’s forehead and found it cold, even colder than her own palm.
“I only remember a few fragments,” Song Man rubbed her eyes, still feeling her eyelids burning. “First, I was running above the city, and someone was chasing me, so I kept running, and then I suddenly fell, and I woke up once.”
“I don’t remember what time it was, and then I fell asleep again. I dreamed I was constantly going down stairs, and then I reached the bottom floor. My consciousness told me this was underground, and those were all dead people. Next to the stairs was a building full of grids, with people inside. I can’t describe it, it was like…”
“An incinerator?”
“Yes! But it was square, with one person in each frame. And then next to that building was a river. I saw a woman in the building waving at me, saying, ‘You’re here too, hurry and come down.’ Then I was pushed into the river and woke up again.”
Song Man looked very unwell, her face full of exhaustion.
“The last dream was that I was attending a funeral in the dream. I was standing there alone. I didn’t know who the dead person was, but I felt a connection to them, a very close connection. I was especially sad, really, really sad.”
Song Man leaned against Chu Fengqiu, who stroked her hair.
“Go to bed. I’ll massage you, and then you can wash your face, okay?”
“Okay.”
Song Man’s voice was muffled. Chu Fengqiu led her back to her room.
Song Man lay down on the bed, pulled the covers over herself, and closed her eyes.
Chu Fengqiu put her bag aside, pressed around Song Man’s eyes with her hands, then had Song Man lie in front of her and massaged her temples.
Chu Fengqiu rubbed her hands together to warm them up and placed them over Song Man’s eyes.
Song Man hummed in comfort, continuing to enjoy Chu Fengqiu’s massage.
After massaging for a while, Song Man’s eyelids felt heavy, and she wanted to sleep again.
Seeing this, Chu Fengqiu gently lowered her, went to the bathroom to wring out a hot towel for Song Man, and gently wiped around her eyes.
After the heat of the towel passed, a cool sensation followed, forcing Song Man to open her eyes, and much of her sleepiness dissipated.
“Don’t sleep anymore, okay? Even though your sleep quality wasn’t good, sleeping again will make you uncomfortable. Wash your face and eat something.”
“Okay.”
Song Man climbed out of bed. After washing her face, she didn’t ask Housekeeper Liu to bring food immediately but went to the gym first.
Chu Fengqiu stood nearby, watching Song Man run, listening to the songs on her playlist, and sitting not far away, drawing.
Sketching lines, drafting, slowly drawing the person in her heart.
Song Man didn’t know Chu Fengqiu was drawing her. She exercised for a while, letting her mind wander.
After running for half an hour, Song Man put on boxing gloves and hit the sandbag for a bit.
After exercising, Song Man truly felt refreshed both physically and mentally.
“I’m going to shower, then eat, and then we’ll do the big thing together.”
“Okay.”
Chu Fengqiu was a little surprised when she learned Song Man was taking her to look at houses.
“My eighteenth birthday gift is a house. I told my mom I want to look at houses early. Let’s go pick one, and when I turn eighteen, we can handle the paperwork directly.”
Most people couldn’t do that, but Song Man was different. She had a family with a mine, so to speak.
The Song family originally came from real estate, and after several generations of expansion, both the main branch and the side branches were now involved in many industries.
Their family wealth was truly substantial, and as the heir to the main family, the property she would inherit far exceeded what ordinary people could imagine. Therefore, Song Qinglan’s caution was understandable, but understanding didn’t mean agreement.
Song Man knew that the survival rules of the adult world were this cruel, full of predation. She wasn’t some saint or naive child; sometimes she would use very dark methods to deal with certain people, like asking Jiang Shan to drive away the people who beat Deng Wei from Qingcheng. But that didn’t mean she could forgive Song Qinglan’s actions.
“Once I have my own house, I won’t live with my parents until after high school graduation. We’ll live there together, so we need to pick a place we like and decorate it the way we want.”
Some people, they tell others not to think about the future just because they like someone, but in reality, they haven’t even agreed to be together yet, and they’ve already planned how to spend a lifetime with that person.
Chu Fengqiu had to pinch her fingertips to keep her expression from losing control.
Song Man was truly too sweet.
She didn’t deliberately show anything; she just naturally said it would be their future little home, making her heart melt.
“But let’s prioritize places that will be handed over soon, or maybe even existing homes…”
Song Man was suddenly hugged, and the rest of her words disappeared into a smile.
Chu Fengqiu wrapped her arms around Song Man’s waist, silently conveying her feelings to Song Man.
She used to think she wasn’t someone associated with luck, but after meeting Song Man, she felt she must have used up all her good luck to meet such a wonderful person.
“Let’s go, we’re setting off.”
“Okay.”
That afternoon, Song Man and Chu Fengqiu did nothing else but look at houses all afternoon.
Actually, the houses were all very good. Since it was for her to live in, the few houses they looked at had been selected based on Song Man’s criteria. The area, lighting, and design were all excellent; only the location and height differed slightly.
“Chu Fengqiu, which one do you prefer? I think Xiangqing Shuixie and Landu are both quite good.”
Xiangqing Shuixie was a high-end, well-decorated community with large green spaces, good lake views, and convenient transportation. Landu was a duplex villa with a garden and swimming pool.
The differences between the two were only in price and layout. Transportation was convenient for both. Song Man didn’t care about the price, so that could be excluded. It still came down to the layout.
Song Man liked the feeling of looking down from high above the city, but the duplex would be more spacious.
“Which one do you like better?”
Chu Fengqiu would naturally follow Song Man’s wishes. Any place Song Man liked was fine, especially since these houses were all very good.
“How about we choose Xiangqing Shuixie then? I feel like the space isn’t big enough, though. Or maybe buy two floors and knock through the middle? Is that possible?”
Song Man looked at the person in charge next to her, thinking her idea was great.
“Yes, Miss Song, as long as you want it, it’s absolutely no problem. So, is Xiangqing Shuixie decided?”
“Yes.”
After sorting out this matter, it was already dark.
“Let’s go see Deng Wei, and then go eat.”
“Okay.”
When Song Man arrived at the hospital, she saw someone standing in the corridor far away, secretly observing the ward door. She frowned and walked closer, realizing it was Deng Wei’s mother.
“Auntie, you…”
“Shh.”
Deng Wei’s mother put her index finger to her lips and quietly closed the slightly open door crack.
“You’re here to see him. You go in. Don’t say you saw me. I’ll go in later.”
Deng Wei’s mother walked a distance away before speaking.
“What’s wrong, Auntie? Is Shen Conglin inside?”
Deng Wei’s mother nodded.
“Are you afraid of disturbing them?”
“A relationship discovered by parents isn’t early romance anymore, is it? Early romance is only interesting when it’s secretive. If he knew I didn’t object, wouldn’t he just become brazen and pushy?”
Deng Wei’s mother looked calm, and what she said actually made sense at first listen.
Song Man was impressed by her calmness and her desire to give the young people some excitement.
“You don’t object?”
“It’s not exactly objecting, nor is it complete support. But birds of a feather flock together. I hope more upwardly mobile kids can influence him. If this can motivate him, that would be great.”
Deng Wei’s mother saw things clearly and knew what was good. “That girl looks very good. He likes her in his heart, but there’s a gap between them. If he can realize this gap, then he will definitely make himself better for the person he likes. If he still can’t change his lazy nature, even the best things won’t stay. You go in.”
“Okay, Auntie. We’ll go in first.”
Song Man felt Deng Wei’s mother was right. Deng Wei and Shen Conglin’s situation was clearly the standard pairing of a delinquent youth and a rich young lady. Some could end up happily, some would fade away, and some would even become resentful couples. They all started with the same story, but how it turned out depended on how they managed it themselves.
A good relationship is one that makes people better and more understanding of each other.
Song Man looked at Chu Fengqiu beside her and slipped her hand into Chu Fengqiu’s pocket.
Chu Fengqiu felt the warmth and held Song Man’s hand in her pocket, intertwining their fingers.
Deng Wei’s mother was right. Early romance indeed had a kind of secret joy.
Wait, she wasn’t even dating yet.
