Let's Do Some Questions - Chapter 84
Over the next few days, Song Man prepared for the upcoming Winter Camp.
The Winter Camp was located in Norway, a place Song Man had never been.
Before going to Norway, Song Man did some research. Northern Europe is quite cold, and the average temperature in Norway this season was below zero degrees Celsius. Song Man packed a lot of warm clothes in her suitcase, but they weren’t for her; they were for Chu Fengqiu.
The day before departure, Ms. Song Zici called.
“Manman, do you want me to arrange someone there to meet you and take care of you?”
“No need, Mom, we can manage ourselves.”
“Alright, then I’ll give you more money. You can exchange it when you get there and have a good time.”
“Okay, Mom.”
Song Man readily agreed. After the call ended, she turned off her phone.
“I’m so excited.”
Song Man was a little excited, leaning on Chu Fengqiu’s back and playing with her hair.
“Why aren’t you excited at all?”
Song Man used the ends of Chu Fengqiu’s hair to brush her face. Not being excited about the Winter Camp was one thing, but there was also a big event coming up.
She was ready to receive a love letter!
Chu Fengqiu held Song Man’s hand, brought it down, and placed it over her heart. She tilted her head up to meet Song Man’s gaze.
“Can you feel it?”
Song Man didn’t react immediately, her mind filled with thoughts like, “Oh wow, it’s so soft.” Then she finally registered it, feeling the frequency of Chu Fengqiu’s heartbeat through her clothes.
Chu Fengqiu just wasn’t very outwardly expressive. More than anticipation, she felt nervous.
Although she knew the outcome of this matter was almost certain, she couldn’t help but be nervous, not wanting anything to go wrong in the most important step.
At the scheduled time, Song Man and Chu Fengqiu boarded the plane to Norway.
With her phone on airplane mode, Song Man put on her headphones, put one earbud in Chu Fengqiu’s ear next to her, and closed her eyes.
The first song on the playlist was “Yandai Xiejie.” The intro alone gave a very comfortable feeling.
Song Man hadn’t slept well the night before and started catching up on sleep as soon as she got on the plane.
Chu Fengqiu put down her e-reader and helped Song Man pull up the small blanket covering her.
When the flight attendant came by with the cart, she made a gesture. Chu Fengqiu shook her head, indicating they didn’t need service for now, and reached up to turn off the light.
The space fell into dimness. Chu Fengqiu closed her eyes, listening to the same music as Song Man, and began to rest.
Not long after, Chu Fengqiu suddenly heard extremely suppressed sobbing near her ear, startling her awake from her semi-sleep state. She quickly reached out and turned on the light.
Song Man beside her looked unwell. There were tear stains at the corners of her eyes, and her sobs were very quiet but strangely louder than the music in Chu Fengqiu’s headphones.
Chu Fengqiu took off her headphones, then gently removed the one from Song Man’s ear. She turned sideways, held Song Man’s hand, and softly stroked her forehead, offering silent comfort.
Song Man in her dream seemed to sense it. Her tightly furrowed brows slowly relaxed, and even her sobbing stopped. She held Chu Fengqiu’s hand and continued sleeping, her expression still a little unsettled.
Chu Fengqiu watched her for a while. Seeing Song Man’s breathing slowly become steady, she finally lay back in her seat with peace of mind, but she kept holding Song Man’s hand.
Song Man probably had another nightmare. Chu Fengqiu remembered Song Man having a nightmare a few days ago too.
Although she didn’t have much knowledge in this area, nightmares certainly didn’t happen for no reason. Either she saw something or thought of something.
What Song Man said about the incinerator made it hard for Chu Fengqiu not to think of Lingnan.
Dreams, to a certain extent, can reflect a person’s inner state. Was Song Man feeling uneasy because of this?
Chu Fengqiu’s fingers gently rubbed Song Man’s fingers. Other people’s misfortunes would absolutely not happen to them.
Song Man woke up after sleeping for a while, feeling a bit uncomfortable.
“I feel like I had another nightmare, but I can’t remember it clearly. I seem to have a slight impression, but if I try to think about it, the memory gets blurrier and blurrier, and I can’t describe it.”
Song Man adjusted her seat and asked a flight attendant for a cup of hot water.
“If you can’t remember it, then don’t think about it. There’s no need to remember a nightmare.”
“That’s true.”
Song Man took a sip of hot water and felt much better.
She held Chu Fengqiu’s hand, checked the time on her wrist watch, and estimated how much longer they had.
Upon landing, they arrived in Norway and gathered with the other Winter Camp participants.
Including Song Man and Chu Fengqiu, there were thirty people in total for this Winter Camp, along with three teachers—one British, one American, and one Chinese-American. They were all very warm and friendly when they saw Song Man and Chu Fengqiu.
Song Man and Chu Fengqiu greeted them, introduced themselves, and learned the destination of the Winter Camp: Geirangerfjord.
“Wow, that sounds great, doesn’t it, Chu?”
The speaker was a white boy who introduced himself as Michelson. He seemed very lively and was the first to come over and greet Song Man and Chu Fengqiu when they first arrived at the camp.
Eastern beauties always seemed to have a unique attraction for Westerners, especially Chu Fengqiu with her long black hair, calm eyes, and the delicate charm of a water town. Michelson had already used three different ways to compliment Chu Fengqiu in ten minutes, making Song Man’s temples throb beside them.
Chu Fengqiu responded politely, without showing much expression.
They were currently on a bus heading to Geirangerfjord. Song Man and Chu Fengqiu had landed at Bergen Airport. The teacher explained the location of Geirangerfjord, which was north of Bergen and one of Norway’s most famous scenic spots.
“Chu, have you participated in any activities before? I’ve never seen you around.”
Michelson wasn’t affected by Chu Fengqiu’s politeness at all and continued chatting actively.
“Only some domestic competitions.”
Chu Fengqiu was starting to feel a bit bothered, but she continued to respond out of politeness. She didn’t dislike other people’s enthusiasm, it was just that too much enthusiasm was a bit overwhelming for her.
A certain big cat beside her was already on the verge of exploding, puffing up with annoyance.
“Your English is very good then.”
Michelson was a little surprised. Chu Fengqiu’s pronunciation leaned towards British English. Although you could tell it wasn’t perfectly native, it didn’t have the distinct accent many Chinese people have.
“Thank you.”
It was a standard question-and-answer exchange. Song Man leaned back in her seat, listening to their awkward conversation with a blank expression.
Someone in the back seat gently poked her shoulder. Song Man turned around and saw a girl with her hair down greeting her.
Black hair and black eyes, she had a very quiet aura.
The girl introduced herself as Yuna. Her English pronunciation was interesting.
“Are you French?”
“Yes, how could you tell?”
Song Man said hello in French, and the other girl happily conversed with her in French.
Not all French people have blonde hair and blue eyes. Song Man, having been to France, knew this. Within France, the appearance of people from the south and north is quite different. Southern French people look more like Italians and Spaniards, primarily of Latin descent, while those with blonde hair and blue eyes are mostly from the north, mixed with Germanic bl00d.
Chu Fengqiu no longer paid attention to Michelson, her attention drawn by Song Man.
Although she couldn’t understand French, she could roughly identify the language.
Michelson beside her also said it was French, confirming Chu Fengqiu’s thought.
Chu Fengqiu’s first reaction was how amazing her Song Man was, and then she suddenly remembered a certain essential oil she had used and missed out on.
She was really young back then, didn’t understand anything.
“Hey Chu, what are you thinking about?”
“Essential oil.”
Chu Fengqiu blurted it out subconsciously. Michelson looked confused.
Song Man, who was chatting with Yuna beside her, froze. She quietly pinched Chu Fengqiu’s waist with her fingers.
“Were you doing that on purpose that time?!”
Song Man switched directly to her native language, not caring if the people nearby understood.
“I found it when I picked it up from the trash can.”
Song Man was shocked. Where did Chu Fengqiu learn this habit of picking up trash?
She started by picking up her test papers, and now she was even looking at essential oil bottles!
“A goddess would never rummage through trash cans!”
“Except for the trash cans you’ve thrown things into.”
“Are you going to be this obsessed?!”
“It’s being thorough.”
They went back and forth, not giving Michelson a chance to interject.
“Want to try it again sometime, after you’re an adult?”
“Wow, you really can’t judge a book by its cover!”
Could she please stop breaking the goddess persona? What happened to being aloof, abstinent, dignified, and reserved?
“That scent was quite nice.”
“It was nice, but don’t even think about it!”
“No massage then?”
“Massage, yes.”
The essential oil was the problem, what did that have to do with a massage!
Seeing Chu Fengqiu and Song Man chatting animatedly, Michelson went to talk to Yuna.
With no one bothering them, Song Man and Chu Fengqiu shared an earbud and started looking up information about Geirangerfjord.
“The scenery looks amazing.”
“Yeah, it looks great.”
Chu Fengqiu had actually already learned from Ke Lingyu that their destination was Geirangerfjord before they set off. It was good that the intensive training and exchange would take place in a beautiful location, which would be beneficial for her plan.
Confessing in a place with beautiful scenery was perfect timing and location; all that was left was her own preparation.
When they arrived in Geiranger, they settled in.
The scenery was truly beautiful, with the water embracing the mountains, lush and green, perfectly harmonious.
Two people per room, Song Man and Chu Fengqiu naturally stayed together.
At dinner, the teachers discussed the itinerary and the plan and goals for this Winter Camp training.
Both sightseeing and learning would take place, aiming for improvement through expanding their thinking and gaining enjoyment through the trip.
They didn’t forget to train even during dinner. The teachers had brought multi-sided dice and had the participating students roll them. The person with the lowest roll had to answer a question posed by the person with the highest roll. The questions were limited to topics related to the people present and the dinner, within the scope of math, physics, and chemistry.
As soon as the suggestion was made, the previously quiet top students became lively.
The die was 24-sided. Song Man rolled a 1.
“Whoa, Song, you won the prize.”
Michelson joked, watching the die being placed in Chu Fengqiu’s palm.
Chu Fengqiu tossed the die upwards, watching it roll and stop on the ground.
“Oh my god, 24. Your luck is truly opposite.”
Michelson thought their luck was incredible.
“We are a match made in heaven.”
Chu Fengqiu smiled. Michelson felt like something was a little off, but he couldn’t quite put his finger on what was strange.
Song Man lightly coughed. What Chu Fengqiu said meant they were very compatible, or in their native language, a match made in heaven.
