- Episode 9 - Leveling Up, Finishing the Tutorial
It was fever time on the second floor of the Shinjuku dungeon.
There are fewer people here than on the first floor, and the chances of encountering monsters are higher. Therefore, my leveling has progressed a lot.
While I was at level 4, I would sometimes get attacked by groups of three goblins, but that no longer happened when I reached level 5.
Although I didn’t put any points into Strength during my second level-up today, I still managed to get my Maximum Damage Increase when Wielding Swords, so even when attacking a goblin using a crude club, I was able to force my sword through and take it down in one hit.
If that happens, then he will be invincible on this level.
Now that I could avoid taking damage if I didn’t let my guard down, I ran around the second floor of the Shinjuku dungeon, which had turned into a hunting ground.
Since returning to the surface would mean losing a lot of time, we went back to the stairs connecting the first and second floors and had lunch there. For some reason, monsters don’t enter the dungeon stairs, so they act as a kind of safe area.
I washed down the four rice balls I had bought from the convenience store before coming to the dungeon with tea, then, after a short lunch break, I returned to exploring.
I defeated goblins and sometimes slimes over and over again.
And it’s four o’clock in the afternoon.
I had planned to dive all day today, but perhaps because I had taken damage several times, or perhaps because the pace of the battle was faster than yesterday, I once again reached the limits of my stamina early on.
But the results have been excellent.
Look at this status!!

《Damage Increase Lv. Max, when equipped with swords》–When attacking with a sword, damage dealt to enemies is doubled. Attacks with weapons other than swords have no effect.
[Goblin Killer Lv. 1] – Damage dealt to Goblins is multiplied by 1.2.
————————————————–
First off, I’ll explain that the reason I raised 《Sturdiness》 is the same as raising 《Dexterity》. If you have it, you won’t make any mistakes when using force, but when you exert too much force, your muscles, tendons, and bones won’t be able to withstand it.degree
When I swung my sword with all my might after raising my Strength to 30, my arm snapped, and it was very painful…logic
So I quickly decided to increase “Sturdy” as well.
But wow, my level has improved quite a bit.
I just felt so good today.
I am honestly happy about that, but I also feel a bit dissatisfied and sad that this won’t be the case from tomorrow.
This can be seen by looking at the amount of experience points required to reach the next level.
That’s right, I need 9830 experience points to reach the next level!
No, the required experience points suddenly increased too much!!
You’d think so, right? I think so too. However, it has already been revealed that the way you level up in modern dungeons is such that the experience points required for leveling up increases a sh1t ton every 10 levels.
This is because, up until now, you could only get 5 status points per level, but from now on, you’ll be able to get 10 points.
The 【STP】 gained per level increases by 5 points every 10 levels. The skill points gained remain the same.
I don’t know if this is the reason, but the experience points required for every 10 levels increase by an order of magnitude.
Incidentally, the experience points required for each level are displayed in the status, so the formula for calculating the experience points required for each level had also been discovered.
Below is the formula for calculating the experience points required for each level.
“Levels 0 to 9” 5 x (10 x number of next levels)
“Levels 10 to 19” 10 x (100 x number of next levels)
“Levels 20 to 29” 15 x (1000 x number of next levels)
“Level 30 to 39” 20 x (10,000 x number of next levels)
“Level 40 to 49” 25 x (100,000 x number of next levels)
“Level 50 to 59” 30 x (1,000,000 x number of next levels)
“Level 60 to 69” 35 x (10,000,000 x number of next levels)
The following numbers increase according to the same rule.
Do you see how crazy this is?
It’s not that hard to go from level 0 to level 9. Even the experience points needed to go from level 8 to level 9 are only 450.
However, when going from level 9 to level 10, it suddenly increases to 10,000. No, I’ve said it many times before, but it’s too much of a sudden increase.
And going from 19 to 20 levels is 300,000. It’s 30 times more than at level 10.
What I’m trying to say is that it’s extremely easy to level up from 0 to 9.
That’s why, among the explorers, this period is called the “tutorial period.” In other words, the real thing begins from level 9.
Today’s pace had earned him far more experience points than yesterday, but even so, if he continued hunting goblins at the same pace as today, he probably wouldn’t level up tomorrow, or even the day after, or the day after that.
I’d hunt thousands of goblins for the pleasure of it, but the faster I level up, the better.
You should think a little about how to earn experience points more efficiently.
In the level-up chart I had thought up beforehand, after maxing out 《Increased Damage When Equipped with Swords》, I planned to acquire and level up two certain skills, and then continue steadily leveling up by fighting goblins.
However, I unexpectedly gained two skills that I hadn’t originally planned on acquiring.
As you all know, they are 《Madness Enhancement》 and 《Goblin Killer》.
《Goblin Killer》 is a title skill, and if you look at the 【Title】 column, you will see that a title with the same name as the skill has been added.
The conditions to obtain the title are “Defeat 100 goblins” and “Recognition from an unspecified number of people.” The title was added when I defeated my 100th goblin, including yesterday, so it seems the latter condition has already been met.
No, why?
I haven’t posted any videos or anything, and it’s only been two days since I started my exploration. Why? What on earth is happening to me? Aren’t you scared?
Although I felt a little scared and had doubts, I thought to myself that maybe this could be useful.
To be honest, there are very few people who would put valuable skill points into Goblin Killer. The skills you should put points into are either “powerful skills” or “highly versatile skills.”
《Goblin Killer》 unconditionally doubles damage dealt to goblins, so in that sense it can be said to be a powerful skill, but on the other hand, it has no versatility, since it only works on goblins.
The current mainstream thinking is that allocating limited skill points to such things is a mistake, but…
“Putting points into a useless skill, now is the time to do that…”
As I live my life leveling up, there is one skill I want to acquire.
The skill is called 《Seeker》, and the conditions to acquire it are relatively easy, so it’s a skill that many people can manifest, but very few people acquire it. That’s because it’s considered a crappy skill with too many drawbacks.
However, I felt that this skill had potential.
And Goblin Killer might work well with Seeker. I’ll probably end up diving into the Shinjuku Dungeon for a while instead…
“Hmm…”
I casually tapped on the skills section of my status, and a list of available skills was brought up.
————————————————–
[List of skills that can be acquired]
“Water Breathing”, “Increase/Decrease Water Resistance”, “Seeker”, “Herculean Strength”, “Swiftness”, “Endurance”, “Increase Damage When Equipped with a Strike Weapon”, “Provoke”, “Fighting Spirit”
————————————————–
Compared to before, the number of skills that can be acquired has increased to 《Fighting Spirit》. This is because the conditions for acquiring the skill have been met. In this case, the condition for unlocking it is to have 《Increased Damage When Equipped with Swords》 at its maximum level. Well, other weapons or fighting skills would be fine too.
“I think I’ll put off Seeker for now… I want to move forward a little further…”
Think for a while and come to a decision.
Using the skill points I had saved, I acquired one skill and increased the level of two others.

[Skills] 《Damage Increase Lv. Max, when equipped with swords》 《Madness Lv. 1》 《Goblin Killer Lv. 3》 《Fighting Spirit Lv. 2》
<<Goblin Killer Lv. 3>>Damage dealt to Goblins is increased by 1.6 times.
《Fighting Spirit Lv.2》– 《Sturdy》 and 《Agility》 increase by 40%. Consumes 2 HP every 10 seconds.Activated muscle
