Little Blind Girl - Chapter 13
Su Ruan had never been to such a place in her life. She knew about arcades from listening to her classmates talk about them, but she had never entered one. She was afraid that she would look out of place in such a crowded place, as if she were the only blind person in the world.
Ke Congying put a hammer in her hand. She began to feel the shape of the hammer, not knowing what it was for.
Her wrist was held by Ke Congying, and his breath was so close, right next to her ear. He leaned against her back, held her wrist, and explained how to play. “This is called whack-a-mole. When the mole comes out, there will be a sound. Just follow the sound and hit it hard… hit it! ”
The hammer went down and Su Ruan’s arm went numb from the shock.
She vaguely heard the voice of the moles, and after Ke Congying hit four moles while clasping her wrist, he let go and said to her, “Try it yourself.”
Su Ruan listened carefully. When the mole came out, it laughed provocatively. When she hit it with the hammer, the mole would cry. Gradually, she felt a little delight. She held the hammer in both hands and kept raising and lowering it.
Lift up, drop down.
It was like hitting the heads of those classmates who bullied her. As she listened to their cries, the pain and unhappiness that she had suppressed in her body for so long seemed to slowly dissipate.
When she finally stopped, she was panting heavily, her whole face was soaked with sweat, and she sat on the chair exhausted.
Ke Congying took a bottle of cold drink and stuck it to her face.
“Thank you.” She took it; the cap had been unscrewed. She lowered her head and took a sip. It was sweet and sour, very nice.
She pursed her lips and drank again, “What is this?”
“You’ve never had it before?” Ke Congying spoke loudly. The surrounding noise made his voice even more recognizable. He leaned closer and breathed into her ear. “It’s sour plum juice.”
Su Ruan shook her head. “I’ve never had it before.”
After she finished speaking, she raised her head and took another sip. Her lips were moistened with sour plum juice and turned bright red.
Ke Congying stared at that lip and his throat closed up. He turned his head to look at the whack-a-mole machine and asked, “Have you memorized the rules?”
She just hit a hundred percent for the last two innings. It was hard for normal people to do that, let alone her being blind.
“It’s not hard.” She was secretly proud.
Ke Congying smiled and chuckled. “Little ace student.”
Su Ruan’s ears felt a bit numb. His laughter was very close, and the three words seemed even more intimate.
“I’ll take you back and bring you to play next time.” He stood up and naturally took her hand.
On the way back, she was not as nervous and frightened as when she came, and she even tilted her head slightly to feel the strong wind.
Seeing that she wasn’t afraid anymore, Ke Congying turned his head and shouted at her, “Hold my shoulders and stand up!
Su Ruan didn’t dare. However, she tentatively put her hands on his shoulders and lifted her head slightly.
The strong wind blew her hair into a straight line, and the cloth strip on her eyes was also blown away by the strong wind. She let out a soft cry but didn’t dare to let go to grab the cloth strip. She just tilted her face slightly to avoid the strong wind that caused hypoxia.
“Who do you hate?! Just shout it out!” Ke Congying yelled, “No one can hear you!”
Su Ruan bit her lip. After a while, she finally held onto his shoulders and raised her head up. She shouted into the strong wind.
“I hate—”
“Myself—”
When the bike stopped, her heart was still beating violently.
Weird, wasn’t it?
So many people bullied her, but the person she ended up hating was herself. If only she wasn’t blind. She often thought that. Then everyone wouldn’t bully her.
“What a coincidence.”
Ke Congying’s voice sounded next to her ear. There was a hint of laughter in his voice that penetrated her ear so clearly.
