Little Blind Girl - Chapter 23
Gu Yaqiu came home early after finishing the evening shift.
After making breakfast, she came up to take a look at Su Ruan. Seeing that she was getting dressed, he asked, “During the past two days, your dad said that you didn’t eat much.”
“I ate.” Su Ruan turned sideways to tie her bra straps.
Only then did Gu Yaqiu realize that she was wearing new underwear, “Is this new? Who bought it?”
“My, my classmate, she…” Su Ruan had already prepared the draft, but she had a nightmare today, and she just thought about Ke Congying. For a moment, her thoughts were confused and her lies were tied up. “She bought it.”
“Mom forgot to buy you a new one.”
Gu Yaqiu didn’t think much about it, but felt a little guilty. Su Ruan had always been very thin. The underwear she bought in junior high school seemed to be too big, so she took it for granted that the underwear she bought would be enough for her to wear for a long time.
“It’s broken.” Su Ruan pointed to the old underwear at the foot of the bed. “The strap is broken.”
Gu Yaqiu picked it up and looked at it. “You can’t wear it anymore. Throw it away. I’ll take you to buy a new one at the weekend.”
Su Ruan waved her hands, “No, that’s enough, I…”
She felt panicked and confused when she thought that Ke Congying was coming to see her on the weekend, “I have enough.”
“How much did your classmate buy it? Do you have the money?” Gu Yaqiu came over to check the label on her underwear. She didn’t recognize the big brand, so she just said, “The style is pretty good, and the quality looks pretty good.”
Su Ruan quietly heard that she didn’t recognize the brand. He breathed a sigh of relief and whispered, “Thirty-five yuan.”
It was a set worth three hundred and fifty yuan.
Ke Congying bought five sets.
She had no money and was too embarrassed to say not to buy it, since she was already wearing it.
But she didn’t expect underwear to be so expensive. What her mother, Gu Yaqiu, bought for her only cost 20 or 30 yuan.
“Well, it’s just one set. I’m going to buy you something to wear over the weekend.” Gu Yaqiu went to look through her cupboard. “These old ones are too small for you to wear anymore.”
“No, she still has… One set. I’ll bring back next time,” Su Ruan whispered.
Gu Yaqiu smiled in surprise, “Really? Which classmate is she? What’s her name?”
Su Ruan rarely got along with classmates. There was one in junior high school. Later, she was bullied miserably. Anyone who got close to her would be bullied. Gradually, no one wanted to be friends with her.
Su Ruan panicked and her fingers started to sweat, “Mom, what time is it? I seem to be late.”
“Then hurry up.” Gu Yaqiu packed her old underwear in a bag, “You can’t wear these old ones. I’ll throw it away.”
Su Ruan breathed a sigh of relief, “Okay.”
After washing up, he had a simple breakfast.
Just as she was about to change her shoes and go out, she heard Ke Congying’s voice through the door, “Good morning, Auntie!”
Su Ruan was startled, and the hairs all over her body stood up.
But she heard Gu Yaqiu talking to Ke Congying in a friendly manner, “Hey, your name is Ke…what?”
“Auntie still remembers me, you can call me Xiao Ke, you can call me classmate, if you can’t remember, call me handsome guy. That’s okay.”
Su Ruan: “…”
Gu Yaqiu laughed, “Of course I remember you.”
On the day Su Ruan had her hair cut by her classmates, Gu Yaqiu and Su Yongjun rushed to the office and heard from the dean that a boy had beaten the other three for Su Ruan.
She thought the two knew each other before, but she didn’t expect that Su Ruan didn’t know him.
Gu Yaqiu met the first classmate who saw Su Ruan being bullied and stood up, so she had a very good impression of Ke Congying.
“Do you want to go to school? Su Ruan hasn’t left yet.”
“I’m here to buy breakfast.” Ke Congying said casually, “She hasn’t left yet? I can give her a ride.”
“Really?” Gu Yaqiu was so pleasantly surprised that she turned around and shouted into the room, “Ruanruan! Hurry up!”
Su Ruan tied her shoelaces and came out with red ears, holding the cane tightly in her hand.
Ke Congying rang the bicycle bell, patted the back seat of the bicycle, and said to Su Ruan.
“Classmate, I’ll see you off.”
