Long Time No See (GL) - Chapter 26 Love Rival
As Gu Weiran lowered her head, she smelled the faint fragrance from Yun Shu’s hair, which was refreshing and went straight to her heart. She couldn’t help but want to get closer, but Yun Shu suddenly stood up and moved away.
She lightly smoothed her long hair, wearing a shallow smile: “Whether I go or not, and when I go, depends on your performance.” After speaking, she walked towards the door. Gu Weiran quickly followed; since Yun Shu didn’t refuse her coming along, she took it as tacit consent.
“Then how should I perform to be considered good?” she pressed.
“I don’t know.”
“…” Gu Weiran was speechless. Yun Shu’s answer was ambiguous. She had finally recognized her own heart and mustered the courage to try and make her stay, but she didn’t know what Yun Shu’s intentions were.
Sometimes, Gu Weiran didn’t want her to pave the way for herself, just like the parting instructions, as if once she left, she would never return.
Gu Weiran was very afraid of yesterday repeating itself; she still remembered how resolutely Yun Shu had left that day.
For those few years, she kept talking about when she could escape Yun Shu’s clutches, and Yun Shu would just laugh off those casually hurtful words.
But when Yun Shu really nodded and agreed to leave, Gu Weiran was unbearably sad.
She quietly followed behind Yun Shu, racking her brain for how to perform well enough to make her stay.
The driver, A-Jie, was already waiting outside the door. Gu Weiran couldn’t help but wonder, who exactly was Yun Shu going to see?
Could it be Ming Shangdong? If it really was him, her situation would be too awkward.
The relationship between Yun Shu and Ming Shangdong was still a mystery. Since being scolded last time, Gu Weiran didn’t dare to bring it up again, but her heart was constantly being turned upside down by this question.
If it was just a superior-subordinate relationship, why did even she find it subtle?
Why was Yun Shu so taboo about mentioning this?
All the way, Gu Weiran was preoccupied with her thoughts, and Yun Shu was also silent, only constantly receiving messages.
Gu Weiran couldn’t help but glance over, catching sight of Yun Shu chatting with someone, replying very actively and chatting passionately, occasionally even seeing a faint smile on her face.
Who was she chatting so happily with?
Why had she never seen her chat with herself? The number and content of their messages were very few, always brief, and even phone calls were rare.
She must be an important person… Could it be that old man Ming Shangdong? Or someone like Bai Jie?
She truly was flirting everywhere. Gu Weiran felt that she needed a “Peach Blossom Cutter” to cut off all of Yun Shu’s admirers.
She started imagining and guessing again, who exactly was the person in the chat window?
To see the screen display clearly, she took advantage of the car turning a corner, pretending not to be sitting steady and leaning toward Yun Shu, catching a glimpse of the contact’s note: “Yan Yan.”
It was a girl’s name? Her intuition told her that the relationship between this person and Yun Shu was not simple.
She was even attracting both men and women, how infuriating!
Gu Weiran squeezed against Yun Shu, her mind wandering with her head tilted. Yun Shu put down her phone and lightly tapped her forehead with her fingertip, “Have you seen enough?”
“Huh? Seen what?”
“Don’t you know what you were looking at?”
“I just wasn’t sitting steady, it’s your driver’s fault for driving too fast.” Gu Weiran would never admit that she was curious about the person Yun Shu was chatting with.
“You don’t need to be curious, you’ll see her in a moment.”
“Who?”
Yun Shu smiled and raised her phone.
With her thoughts seen through, Gu Weiran awkwardly said, “I didn’t dare to ask, I was afraid of being severely criticized by you again and having my glass heart shatter all over the floor.”
Yun Shu carefully pondered her words, seemingly remembering something.
Her smile gradually faded, turning indifferent. After a long while, she calmly replied, “When you need to know, I will tell you.”
“Really?” Gu Weiran looked at her suspiciously.
“When have I ever lied to you?”
“It seems like never, not since childhood.” Yun Shu was a woman of her word. From important promises for the future to trivial matters in life, as long as she agreed, she would definitely do it.
Therefore, Gu Weiran had absolute faith in her words.
She never thought that one day she would lose everything because of that trust. Yun Shu’s only lie sent her into an abyss, almost destroying her faith and hope.
About half an hour later, the car arrived at the most luxurious hotel in Xuan’an. Yun Shu walked directly towards the lobby, with A-Jie following closely. Her steps were hurried, as if she was very anxious.
Who exactly was this “Yan Yan”? She had been sour all the way, and she really wanted to see her true face.
The hotel was magnificent, and the staff greeted them respectfully. Yun Shu merely looked around, searching for that familiar figure.
“Miss Yun, over there.” A-Jie was the first to spot the person, pointing towards the VIP lounge area.
Yun Shu looked in that direction and, upon closer inspection, confirmed it was her.
She took a slight breath, not rushing forward, but instead making a phone call. Gu Weiran clearly saw the number displayed: “Old Ming.”
“I see her,” Yun Shu’s tone was nothing like speaking to a superior.
“Old Ming…” This address was a bit too intimate.
She couldn’t help but let her mind wander again.
“Don’t worry, I’ll have A-Jie send her back today.”
“I have my ways, you don’t need to worry.”
After three brief sentences, Yun Shu hung up the phone. She walked towards the sofa area. Gu Weiran followed silently, her mood curve trending downward, feeling increasingly down.
Following Yun Shu’s gaze, she found the target. Based on a woman’s intuition, she felt that the person not far away must be the “Yan Yan” on the other end of the phone.
The girl had medium-length bright yellow hair, half down and half tied up in a bun. She wore a black hoodie with a giant photo of a woman on the front; the expression in the eyes of the photo surprisingly resembled Yun Shu. The ripped jeans and Martin boots combination made her look very trendy.
She was currently looking down and playing with her phone, her sunglasses covering half of her face, making it impossible to see her features clearly.
“Yan Yan,” Yun Shu called softly. The girl looked up, immediately threw her phone down, and jumped up, “Sister Yun!!” She instantly threw herself into Yun Shu’s arms.
“You’re finally here, I’ve missed you so much!!” She made no secret of her longing and affection for Yun Shu, hugging her tightly and refusing to let go, drawing the attention of onlookers.
A-Jie seemed accustomed to it, standing quietly to the side, covering his mouth and chuckling.
Gu Weiran’s eyebrows were furrowed into an arch because Yun Shu showed no sign of resistance, instead indulging her closeness.
She wished she could go forward and pull the person away. It was as if she was stuck with 502 glue, clinging tightly to Yun Shu.
Five seconds, ten seconds, fifteen seconds…! Still hugging. Gu Weiran silently gritted her teeth, resisting the urge to go forward and separate them. Not knowing who the other person was, she was afraid of being rash and messing things up, so she had to endure it.
“Alright, that’s enough, let go of me,” Yun Shu finally spoke.
She obediently released her, but her gaze fell on Gu Weiran.
She took off her sunglasses, revealing a clear and delicate face. Although her features were soft, her whole body exuded confidence and pride, even carrying a hint of nobility.
It was the first time she had seen a beautiful woman standing beside Yun Shu, and she was very curious.
“Who are you?”
“Who are you?” Gu Weiran threw the same question back.
She answered frankly, “My name is Ming Yan.”
“Ming Yan?”
Such a coincidence to be named Ming. Could it be?
“Let me introduce, she is Miss Ming Yan, Chairman Ming’s daughter, and this is…” Yun Shu was about to introduce when Ming Yan raised her hand, “Don’t say it, let me guess.”
She shook her sunglasses, walked around Gu Weiran once, scrutinizing her from head to toe, and suddenly said, “You must be Gu Weiran, right?”
Gu Weiran was surprised, “How do you know?” She had never had contact with anyone from Mingde Group, nor had she ever met this young lady.
“Heh, there’s nothing I don’t know about our Sister Yun’s affairs.”
“Tch, when did she become ‘yours’? But Miss Ming indeed knows quite a lot.”
“Just average, third in the world,” Ming Yan returned to Yun Shu’s side, linked her arm through hers, and said in a whining tone, “I’m so tired, my ID was hidden by the old man, and I don’t know where my passport went. The hotel won’t let me stay, I can’t buy a plane ticket, I’m practically a homeless person.” Ming Yan’s voice was so sweet it gave Gu Weiran goosebumps.
Gu Weiran couldn’t help but make a “hissing” sound of disapproval and said, “A rich second generation running away without documents, homeless—what a clichĂ© plot.”
Ming Yan was not to be outdone, “Listening to your sharp words, oh no, I should say your overwhelming sourness, I guess I can list you as a love rival.”
“What? You…” Gu Weiran didn’t expect Ming Yan to be so direct, showing no sign of shyness, her boldness was astonishing.
“What? Don’t dare to admit it? I’ve liked her since I was seventeen. In the five years we’ve been together, she’s been meticulous towards me. What about you?”
“Ming Yan!” Yun Shu finally spoke to stop her, her smile also retracting a little. This strange conversation continuing would become very awkward.
“Ouch, what’s wrong? You’re calling me by my full name. Don’t call me that, it sounds too distant. I won’t say it, alright?”
With one sentence from Yun Shu, Ming Yan instantly turned into an obedient girl.
“You go back with A-Jie first today. Old Ming is very worried about you, and your mother…” Speaking of Ming Yan’s mother, Yun Shu’s tone paused, and her expression became complex, “Your mother should be very anxious too.”
“She targets you at every turn, why should you care if she’s anxious or not?”
“Don’t listen to hearsay about company matters. The animosity between your mother and me isn’t as intense as you think.”
“I really don’t understand why she targets you at every turn. That old man can’t solve this problem either. I’m going to mend the relationship between you two this time I come back.” Ming Yan was planning in her heart: this time she came back, she was going to formally come out. In the past, whenever she said she liked Yun Shu, no one took her seriously. Now she was 22, and no one could stop her from pursuing her true love.
“A child shouldn’t worry so much. You have a task for this return,” Yun Shu smiled with narrowed eyes. “I actually need your help.”
“Really, really? You said you need me?” She automatically segmented the sentence and grasped the key information.
Heh… Taking words out of context was exactly what she did. Gu Weiran stared intently at Ming Yan’s hand. Why so many small gestures? It was as if she wanted to be clinging to Yun Shu all the time.
She didn’t like Yun Shu being touched or close to others.
She disliked even more Yun Shu allowing others’ closeness. The natural intimacy between the two of them felt innate, creating a strange magnetic field between them, which made Gu Weiran feel like an outsider at this moment, unable to break in.
Ming Yan said they had been together for five years, which was exactly the time Yun Shu had been away.
She had personally sent Yun Shu to another person’s side, and perhaps during those years apart, Yun Shu had been warming someone else.
Thinking of this, Gu Weiran felt a knot in her stomach.
To persuade Ming Yan to go back, Yun Shu played along, intending to have her incidentally help solve the Wang Sen issue. Since Wang Sen was backed by the Chairman’s wife, she could only tackle the Chairman’s wife’s weak spot, which was Ming Yan.
She briefly explained the situation and instructed Ming Yan on what to do so that she could legitimately return to Xuan’an again.
“What the heck! That old scoundrel, daring to do such a thing, I will definitely make him pay.” Ming Yan was indignant and had a flamboyant personality. Her emotions were clearly written on her face. Since someone dared to mess with her Sister Yun, how could she let it go.
“So, are you going back to the headquarters to help me personally solve this matter?”
“Yes, absolutely. A-Jie, let’s leave right now!” She was decisive. After being persuaded, she immediately wanted to leave, but she looked at Yun Shu with extreme reluctance. Before leaving, she reached out for a hug.
Gu Weiran turned her face away. The feeling of having no standing was terrible. She couldn’t stop Ming Yan, nor could she demand anything from Yun Shu.
What could she do? She had willingly come out looking for trouble; it was truly a loss!
As she thought, she started to feel weak all over, even a little chills. Coming out was already a strain as her body hadn’t recovered, and with the vexation, she began to feel unwell all over.
Psychology certainly affects physiology. Gu Weiran frowned, enduring the intense discomfort, both physically and mentally.
Yun Shu’s peripheral vision fell upon Gu Weiran’s face, as if she could sense her mood, and she directly blocked Ming Yan’s bear hug, “If you don’t leave now, the highway will be jammed.”
Ming Yan missed the hug and pouted, “Fine, fine, I’m leaving now, I’ll be back tomorrow!” With that, she dashed out the door with A-Jie in a hurry.
Ming Yan looked back three times with reluctance, but her eyes didn’t meet Yun Shu’s gaze. Yun Shu was already standing beside Gu Weiran, full of concern.
“Are you uncomfortable?” Yun Shu wanted to touch Gu Weiran’s forehead, but she moved away, “My body is fine, but my heart has something wrong.”
“What’s wrong with your heart?”
Thinking of Ming Yan’s boldness and directness, Gu Weiran lifted her head and said, “Jealousy!”
