Lord of Mysteries: The Cultivator - Chapter 12
Crap! Who’s praying late at night instead of sleeping!
Klein, resting in the hotel, was suddenly woken up by a phantom prayer. He flipped up and sat on the bed, complaining sleepily in his heart. He walked four steps counter-clockwise and arrived above the gray fog.
The gray-white mist in the mysterious space flowed rapidly, and the deep-red star belonging to his fellow transmigrator, “Empress,” shone brightly, surging with a tide of illusory light.
This light formed an illusory image: “Empress’s” body was in complete darkness, a darkness deeper than the night enveloped him.
Only his eyes emitted a faint green glow. He saw that “Empress’s” original eyeballs had vanished, replaced by two bloody vines!
My fellow transmigrator seems to be in some danger… Klein dared not hesitate. He immediately reached out and touched the deep-red star of “Empress,” pulling his spiritual body above the gray fog.
Hmm? At this moment, his Spirituality suddenly blared an alarm, warning him to pay attention to “Empress’s” rising spiritual body.
He then discovered that on “Empress’s” spiritual body, countless cold and wicked vines, growing from the void, were firmly rooted in his spiritual body, pulling and preventing him from ascending above the gray fog.
Klein pondered for a moment. He quickly rummaged through the pile of miscellaneous items and pulled out the “Black Emperor” blasphemy card. Holding it in his palm, and utilizing its extremely high authority, he fully mobilized the gray-white mist above the gray fog, condensing it into a pitch-black greatsword, which he slashed at the cold vines surrounding “Empress.”
Clang! Clang! Sounds seemed to come from the boundless void. The severed vines twisted and flailed in resentment, but they could not reach Quinn’s spiritual body, which was climbing higher and higher.
Klein let out a sigh of relief, about to show a relaxed smile.
“Mysteries… why…”
Suddenly! An unfamiliar murmur came from above the gray fog!
This murmur came from the endless void, piercing through the obstruction of the layers of gray fog. The murmur was filled with anger, resentment, confusion, and also contained immense power!
In an instant, countless vines grew out of the void. They pierced through the palace, which was as massive and lofty as the Giant King’s Court, and stirred up the layers of mist above the gray fog.
Klein’s body burst open in a flash. Every piece of flesh that had split apart wriggled and grew wildly, swelling violently.
Soon, a colossal ball of flesh devoured every item and every wisp of mist in the mysterious space, occupying every inch of space above the gray fog.
The entire space seemed to have been destroyed by a single murmur from that unknown existence.
After a long while, the gray-white mist gradually permeated the area again. Everything silently returned to its original appearance, and the giant mass of flesh slowly vanished as if its existence had been wiped clean.
Klein’s body reappeared on the high-backed chair, which had been silently repaired. He panted heavily, still shaken, and only then dared to confirm that the terrifying unknown existence had temporarily spared them.
“I’m sorry, Grandma… I won’t dare to do it again… I’ll be sure to recite your honorific name accurately next time…”
Quinn’s consciousness was still scattered, and he muttered unconsciously, as if sleep-talking.
Seeing Quinn like this, Klein was furious.
What did you do to attract the attention of such a terrifying existence!
Don’t you know the principle of ‘no Zuo no Die’ (i.e., you brought this on yourself)? He cursed Quinn’s carelessness in his heart, wishing he could give him a good beating while he was still unconscious.
That terrifying attack from the unknown existence still lingered in his mind.
Klein had never felt such terrifying might, not even when directly facing the Eternal Blazing Sun or the True Creator.
This majestic great power seemed to surpass that of a true deity.
But Klein couldn’t even begin to imagine what an existence above a deity would look like.
He slowly exhaled, leaning back on the high-backed chair, supporting the side of his face with one hand, and squinted his eyes, silently waiting for Quinn to wake up.
After a long time, Quinn’s consciousness finally broke free from the chaos. He abruptly opened his eyes, looked around with a hint of confusion, appearing as bewildered as a student caught sleeping in class by the dean.
Then he saw “The Fool” sitting in the high-backed chair with ancient carvings. He was stunned for a moment and asked confusedly, “Mr. Fool, are you the God of Death who manages the underworld?”
What in the world is he talking about… Klein’s mouth twitched subtly. He sighed in his heart for both Quinn’s intelligence and emotional quotient, and said unhurriedly:
“No, this is not the underworld, nor am I the ‘God of Death.’ You called upon my name, and thus you arrived here.”
“Hmm…” Quinn pondered for a moment, then suddenly recalled what had actually happened earlier.
That unknown existence called the “Fallen Mother Goddess” took advantage of his state of dual contamination to unconsciously make him utter Her honorific name.
Then, by doing so, She established a connection with him, intending to descend into this world! Fortunately, he recited “The Fool’s” honorific name and gained “His” protection, thus escaping the fate of becoming a vessel for a divine descent.
Upon realizing this, he said from the bottom of his heart, “Praise be to you, Mr. Fool!”
“No matter. If you hear Her murmurs again, recite My name.” Since that terrifying existence seemed to have temporarily given up on occupying Quinn’s body due to this mysterious space, no one knew how long it would be until She tried to probe again.
“Will do!” Mr. Fool is truly a great person! Quinn was moved to tears in his heart.
When he was almost integrated with the Fallen Mother Goddess, countless pieces of knowledge flooded into his mind. He knew what a terrifying existence the Fallen Mother Goddess was. She was originally one of the “Three Pillars” who transcended the Old Ones. Later, some of Her Authority was lost, which led to the creation of the Mother Earth Goddess he currently worshiped.
However, the current Fallen Mother Goddess was still equivalent to an “Outer Deity,” a terrifying existence above the True Deities. For “Mr. Fool” to be willing to save him from Her clutches—anyone would know what a great favor this was.
“Mr. Fool, how can I repay You?” Quinn did not intend to receive favor from others for free.
As the saying goes, “The free things are the most expensive.”
Klein nodded slightly, adopting the posture that this was merely a small matter, and said to Quinn, “If you are interested in repaying Me, I am collecting Emperor Roselle’s diary.”
Then, he ended Quinn’s state of being above the gray fog. The recent ordeal had greatly consumed his mental energy, and now he just wanted to return to his bed and sleep for a whole day.
Klein simulated the feeling of a spirit body falling and returned to the real world.
On the other side, deep beneath the sea, Quinn woke up.
