- Chapter 13 - The Mother Goddess is the Best in the World
“Wah Gah!”
On the beach shrouded in crimson moonlight, a soaking wet figure was washed ashore by the waves. His eyes were empty, and he was wearing a white bishop’s robe, still stained with bl00d that had been diluted by the seawater. Hole after hole in the robe made him look as if he had suffered a terrible shipwreck.
Then, the corpse-like figure suddenly sat up and exclaimed loudly: “Sh1t, I almost got pickled! Ptooey, ptooey, ptooey!”
When Quinn woke up, he found himself in pitch darkness, unable to see his hand in front of his face. An icy, bone-chilling sensation came from his body, which made him realize that he was submerged in the sea, and deep in the sea at that.
Fortunately, as a Sequence 5 ‘Druid,’ he could draw nourishment from nature. Otherwise, he would have drowned when he was pulled up to the gray fog.
After healing the injuries on his body and eyes, he used his Beyonder ability to turn into a fish and swam to the surface of the sea.
However, the talisman gifted to him by Old Bob seemed to have flown him to who knows where; there was sea in all four directions. Thus, he could only change back to human form and rely on the power of the waves to drift wherever they took him.
Fortunately, the Mother Goddess did not seem to have abandoned him. Quinn, who had been washed by the waves all night, was pushed ashore onto land.
Although it was far, far away from Bikini Beach, at least he was on land.
After Quinn spat out the salty seawater in his mouth, he shook his head, which was still dazed from being soaked. Now he finally had time to think about what exactly had happened.
He plopped down on the beach sand, resting his arms on his legs and holding his head in his hands, sorting through the various knowledge belonging to the Fallen Mother Goddess that had been added to his mind: Potion formulas for the “Earth” and “Moon” Pathways from Sequence 9 to Sequence 0… Good Heavens, a one-stop-shop for becoming a god, he thought, too bad both Sequences already have someone at the top…
The body structure and living habits of almost all creatures, including super-natural creatures. Heh heh, can I now say, “No one understands biology better than me”?
From now on, I can know the weaknesses of super-natural creatures at a glance when hunting them. Isn’t that equivalent to having a built-in guide?
Formulas for countless potions, such as those that restore spirituality, heal the body, and cure poisons and diseases, like the blue and red bottles often mentioned in games;
And potions that treat symptoms of loss of control, or ones that cause people to lose control;
And even more strange potions with various functions, such as “Strength Potion,” “Transformation Potion,” “Feminization Potion,” and so on. Wait, it seems some strange knowledge has been added…
These potions seem to work even on True Gods. Their miraculous degree is really comparable to Beyonder potions…
Knowledge of alchemy… Hmm, most of it seems to be experiments inviting death, either refining oneself or refining others into a crucible… But fortunately, there are many practical ones, such as the method for creating the Philosopher’s Stone.
Now I can also use any material to create a golem.
But I need to advance to Sequence 4 ‘Ancient Alchemist’ to control them… But still…
Quinn stretched out a hand, his five fingers slightly spread. Subsequently, countless cold, sinister, ancient, and complexly patterned vines broke through the waves from the sea in front of him, intertwining with the thick woody structures that grew alongside them to form an immense humanoid figure, fully a hundred meters tall.
He walked barefoot into the cold seawater, reaching out to stroke the cold, complex patterns inscribed on the surface of the giant’s body—
Ever since the Fallen Mother Goddess invaded his spirit body, the plants he grew seemed to have taken on this sinister appearance—specks of light emerged from his hand and submerged into the giant in front of him.
Gradually, a cluster of green faint light lit up in the eye socket of the giant, which was woven from vines. Joints that could move freely formed in its knee and elbow bends. With a series of creaking noises, the giant came to life!
This was Quinn’s biggest gain from the forced descent of the Deity. By using his connection of the same origin with the Fallen Mother Goddess, he had seized a portion of the Sefirah possessed by the Fallen Mother Goddess—a part of the “Mother Nest” from the starry sky! This allowed him to grant life to dead objects and command them!
If failure didn’t mean “Game Over,” I would really like to have the Fallen Mother Goddess “patronize” me a few more times, hahaha.
Quinn thought proudly in his heart.
The cluster of fluorescent light serving as the giant’s eyeball seemed to be gazing at Quinn, then it knelt on one leg and held out a massive palm.
Quinn leaped onto its fingertip. Then, it stood up its tall body, placed Quinn on its head, and began to stride across the infinitely vast sea in an unknown direction.
Wait… I don’t know the way… Standing on the giant’s broad head, which was big enough to play gateball on, Quinn grew a wooden platform. Three wooden candles were placed on the platform.
Quinn reached out and placed the spurred wheat, barley, and other plants favored by the Mother Goddess of Earth in the corresponding positions. He was going to use ritualistic magic to pray for the Mother Goddess of Earth’s help.
After the ritual items, including the essential oil, were all manufactured by Quinn himself, he picked up a small wooden knife, and spiritual power burst forth from the tip of the knife, barely creating a space suitable for prayer.
Then, he chanted in a low voice: “I pray for the power of the earth;”
“I pray for the power of nature;”
“I pray for the Mother Goddess’s favor;”
“I pray for the direction to Bikini Beach…”
The ‘Planter’ and ‘Apothecary’ Sequences of the Mother Goddess of Earth Church always have difficulty receiving correct divine revelations due to the influence of the Fallen Mother Goddess. Only ‘Divine Favored Ones’ of other pathways can receive correct guidance, but Quinn couldn’t worry about that much now.
It wasn’t long before Quinn felt a stirring in his mind, and his intuition indicated a direction. So he patted the hundred-meter-tall giant under his feet, making it walk in that direction.
In the days that followed, Quinn faced the seemingly unchanged sea every day and gradually forgot the passage of time.
After an unknown number of days and nights, the sun rose and set. Along the giant’s path, Quinn even built a small house on the head of the vine giant. Out of boredom, he also used the cotton he grew to drape a layer of clothing over the giant.
The giant, wearing a white suit jacket and trousers, a bow tie, and holding a top hat, traveled North across the sea. Finally, from the top of the hundred-meter-tall giant, Quinn finally saw land!
“This is far enough! It wouldn’t be good if someone saw you if we go any further!”
Quinn squatted down and patted the giant’s head. Then, the vine-made giant slowly bent down. Quinn transformed into a seagull with white feathers mixed with some green and flew into the sky on beating wings.
Quinn flew forward a short distance, then suddenly remembered something. He turned back, poked half of his body out of the clouds, and flapped his wings in thanks to the giant.
“Thank you! Until we meet again!”
The iron-black vine giant stopped, picked up the wooden carved top hat Quinn had made for it, pressed it to its chest, made a bow, and then put on the hat and walked toward the boundless sea behind it.
Before long, Quinn, who had changed back to human form, appeared at a port. He stared blankly at the unfamiliar sight of surging crowds and incoming and outgoing giant ships, and he couldn’t help but murmur: “Where is this…”
“I’m never using ritualistic magic on the Mother Goddess again…”
