Love in the Depths of Time (GL) - Chapter 23
Jia Le was successfully admitted to a well-known medical university in City B, choosing internal medicine as her major. Since childhood, she had been passionate about medicine and dreamed of becoming an excellent doctor to help more people in the future. Meanwhile, Lin Xi enrolled in the finance department of a comprehensive university in City A. She was deeply fascinated by the complexity and charm of finance, eager to make her mark in this challenging and opportunity-filled field.
Besides Jia Le and Lin Xi, their friends also started their own university journeys. Yang Sheng and Ye Zi were admitted to an art academy, majoring in painting. They hoped to use their brushes to depict the beauty in their hearts. Fu Mei, on the other hand, entered the media program. She was passionate about film production and journalism, dreaming of shining in the media industry in the future.
Jia Le, Yang Sheng, and Ye Zi were the only ones studying in the same city, which made them feel incredibly lucky. They agreed to meet on the first day of school to share their new university experiences.
During the university opening season, the campus was filled with youthful energy. Jia Le carried her luggage and stepped into the medical university. The campus was lush with trees, and the ancient yet elegant teaching buildings instantly made her fall in love with the place. After finding her dormitory and organizing her bed, she eagerly sent a message to Yang Sheng and Ye Zi. The three created a group chat, and Ye Zi quickly replied, suggesting they meet at the entrance of Jia Le’s school. Yang Sheng agreed. When Jia Le saw them approaching from a distance, a warm feeling filled her heart. Ye Zi wore a loose white T-shirt and carried a large art supply bag, her face glowing with a bright smile. Yang Sheng, in a casual suit, looked particularly energetic.
“Jia Le, you finally arrived!” They quickly walked up and gave Jia Le a big hug.
“Ye Zi, Yang Sheng, I missed you so much!” Jia Le hugged them tightly, her eyes showing a trace of emotion.
The three walked into the campus together, with Jia Le introducing her school to them. They chatted as they strolled, reminiscing about their middle school days and sharing their expectations for the future.
“You both chose painting. You must remember to draw many beautiful artworks for me to see!” Jia Le said with a smile.
They nodded. “Of course! We will work hard,” Ye Zi replied. “By the way, Jia Le, you chose medicine. You must save lives in the future!”
Jia Le nodded seriously. “Of course! I will do my best to become an excellent doctor.”
At the same time, Lin Xi was also starting her university life. The finance program was intense, with a full schedule. She spent her days moving between the library and classrooms, studying diligently. She knew that the finance industry was highly competitive, and only by working hard could she establish herself in this field.
Despite her busy schedule, Lin Xi often thought about Jia Le. Late at night, she would look through Jia Le’s photos and recall their wonderful times together. One night, she sent Jia Le a message: “Jia Le, how is university life?”
Jia Le quickly replied, “It’s great! The campus is beautiful, and the courses are interesting. How about you, Lin Xi?”
Lin Xi replied, “I’m doing well too. The finance program is intense, but I like it. Keep up the hard work!”
Jia Le responded, “Yes! Let’s work hard together!”
University life was even busier than high school. The schedule was packed, and there were many lab and practical sessions. Jia Le had to wake up early for classes and study late in the library. Even so, she felt fulfilled.
“Medicine is a very complex subject, but it’s fascinating,” Jia Le said at a gathering with friends. “I feel like I’m learning new things every day, and it gives me a great sense of accomplishment.”
In the second semester, Jia Le had more clinical practice opportunities. For the first time, she wore a white coat and stepped into a hospital ward, following her mentor to learn diagnosis and treatment. At first, she was nervous, but she quickly adapted to the routine.
“Seeing patients gradually recover because of our treatment is an indescribable feeling,” Jia Le said during a call with Lin Xi. “I feel like I chose the right path.”
**Jia Le’s First Anatomy Class**
Jia Le was both excited and nervous about her first anatomy class. She knew it was an essential course in medical studies, a crucial step toward her dream. A few days before the class, she reviewed relevant theories, trying to familiarize herself with human anatomy.
“Jia Le, are you ready?” Ye Zi asked during a call.
“A bit nervous, but also excited,” Jia Le replied. “I think this will be an important learning experience.”
The day finally arrived. Jia Le arrived early at the anatomy lab, where the smell of formalin filled the air, making her feel slightly suffocated. In the center of the lab, several dissection tables were covered with white sheets.
“Welcome to the anatomy lab,” the professor’s voice broke the silence. “Today, we will begin learning human anatomy. This is a crucial course, and I hope you take it seriously.”
Jia Le’s heartbeat quickened, and her palms felt sweaty. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself.
The professor explained the basic steps and precautions of dissection. Jia Le listened carefully, focusing on every detail. When the professor announced the start of the session, Jia Le felt a mix of emotions.
She and her classmates gathered around a dissection table and lifted the white sheet, revealing a human cadaver. A wave of dizziness hit her—she had never been so close to a human body before.
“Jia Le, are you okay?” Ali, a classmate beside her, asked softly.
Jia Le nodded, trying to steady herself. “I’m fine, just a little nervous.”
The professor guided them through the procedure. Jia Le picked up the scalpel, her hands trembling slightly. She reminded herself that this was a learning opportunity and that she couldn’t back down.
“Remember, anatomy is not just about learning human structure; it is also about respecting life,” the professor’s voice echoed in the lab.
Jia Le took a deep breath and carefully made her first incision. As she focused on the task, her fear gradually faded. She concentrated on each movement, each detail.
“Jia Le, you’re doing great,” Ali encouraged her.
Jia Le smiled slightly, feeling a sense of achievement. She knew this was only the beginning—there was still a long way to go.
After the anatomy class, Jia Le felt exhausted but fulfilled. Sitting in a corner of the lab, she reflected on the experience.
“Today was unforgettable,” she told Ali. “I was scared, but I told myself I couldn’t back down.”
Ali nodded. “You did well, Jia Le. I believe you’ll become an excellent doctor.”
Jia Le looked at the scalpel in her hand, her heart filled with determination. “I will work hard—for my dream.”
