Love in the Depths of Time (GL) - Chapter 6
As the warm and happy days passed, Lin Xi stood at the gate of her middle school, gazing up at the tall teaching building. Her heart was filled with both anticipation and nervousness. She knew that from today, her life would turn to a new page.
Back in elementary school, she and Wen Jia Le were inseparable. They went to and from school together, played on the playground, and studied hard side by side in the classroom. Whenever Jia Le had trouble with math problems, Lin Xi would patiently help her solve them. When Jia Le accidentally fell, Lin Xi was always the first to help her up. Similarly, Jia Le was always there for Lin Xi when she was feeling down, watching the sunrise and sunset with her, and sharing every little joy in life. Their friendship was deep, as if they were an irreplaceable part of each other’s lives.
However, after entering middle school, Lin Xi had to live on campus, and she and Jia Le were placed in different classes. Surrounded by unfamiliar faces in the classroom, Lin Xi felt a little lost. She sat alone at her desk, watching her new classmates chatting in small groups, and couldn’t help feeling a little lonely.
Just then, a voice broke her thoughts. “Hey, new classmate, what’s your name?”
Lin Xi looked up and saw a girl standing in front of her, a bright smile on her round face. Her eyes curved like crescent moons, giving her a friendly and approachable look.
Lin Xi hesitated slightly before replying, “My name is Lin Xi.”
“Wow, Lin Xi! That’s such a nice name!” The girl said excitedly. “I’m Fu Mei, your new roommate!”
Lin Xi’s heart stirred slightly. Roommate? She felt both excited and nervous.
Fu Mei seemed to notice her hesitation and grabbed her hand. “Don’t worry! I’m super fun to be around! We’re going to have a great time together!”
Lin Xi was infected by her enthusiasm and couldn’t help but smile.
Under Fu Mei’s lead, Lin Xi arrived at the dormitory. The other girls had already arrived, and they curiously looked at her. Fu Mei cheerfully introduced her, “This is Lin Xi, the new classmate I told you about! Let’s all get along well!”
The girls greeted Lin Xi warmly, and she responded to each of them. Although they weren’t familiar yet, Lin Xi could feel their kindness.
That evening, the dormitory lights were still on as the girls sat together, chatting happily. Fu Mei was the most energetic one—she chirped away like a lively little bird, sharing funny childhood stories, her excitement about middle school, and even her obsession with celebrities.
Lin Xi listened quietly, occasionally joining the conversation. She realized that although Fu Mei was a bit gossipy, her enthusiasm and cheerfulness could brighten everyone’s mood.
Lin Xi knew that even though she and Wen Jia Le weren’t in the same class anymore, their lives weren’t ending.
Meanwhile, as Lin Xi settled into her new dormitory life with Fu Mei, Yang Sheng and Wen Jia Le also embarked on their middle school journey. Luckily, they were placed in the same class, which made them incredibly happy. From elementary to middle school, they had always been best friends. Now, being in the same class again felt like a stroke of fate.
Standing at the classroom door, Wen Jia Le and Yang Sheng looked at the unfamiliar faces inside, feeling both nervous and excited. Wen Jia Le patted Yang Sheng’s shoulder lightly and grinned. “Sister, we have to work hard together from now on!”
Yang Sheng nodded firmly. “Of course! We have a long way ahead, let’s do our best!”
They entered the classroom and chose seats by the window. Wen Jia Le always preferred window seats because she liked gazing at the scenery outside—it made her feel at ease. Yang Sheng, on the other hand, felt secure sitting beside Wen Jia Le.
During the first week, their class held a self-introduction session. When it was Wen Jia Le’s turn, she stood up with a gentle smile and said, “Hello, everyone. My name is Wen Jia Le. I love singing and reading. I hope to become friends with you all!”
Her warm and engaging voice earned her a round of applause from her classmates.
Yang Sheng stood up next, a little shy. “My name is Yang Sheng. I… I like drawing. I hope we can all get along well.”
As soon as she finished speaking, a crisp voice called out, “Wow, Yang Sheng! You must be amazing at drawing! I love drawing too—let’s exchange ideas sometime!”
Yang Sheng looked up and saw a girl sitting in the back row. She had long, jet-black hair, bright, lively eyes, and a sweet smile.
The girl’s name was Ye Zi. She was one of the quietest students in class. Her gentle voice and graceful demeanor gave off a fresh and elegant aura.
Yang Sheng was touched by her enthusiasm and smiled shyly, nodding.
From that day on, Yang Sheng and Ye Zi gradually became close. They discovered that they shared many interests—they both loved drawing, enjoyed reading comics, and even had the same taste in music.
During breaks, Yang Sheng would often go to Ye Zi’s seat to discuss the latest comics or share their sketches.
One day, the class held a drawing competition, and both Yang Sheng and Ye Zi signed up. On the day of the contest, Yang Sheng was so nervous that her palms were sweaty.
Ye Zi noticed and gently patted her shoulder. “Don’t be nervous, just do your best. I believe in you!”
Yang Sheng took a deep breath, her anxiety slowly fading.
When the results were announced, both Yang Sheng and Ye Zi earned great rankings. Standing on the award stage, they exchanged smiles, their hearts filled with joy and satisfaction.
From then on, they became some of the closest friends in class, participating in events together, studying side by side, and sharing both happiness and worries.
Wen Jia Le also noticed the growing friendship between Yang Sheng and Ye Zi and felt happy for them. She knew Yang Sheng had always been a shy person, and having a friend like Ye Zi was a wonderful thing for her.
Wen Jia Le also got along well with Ye Zi and found that she was not only kind and gentle but also very intelligent. Ye Zi always used her wisdom and patience to help others.
In this new class, Yang Sheng and Wen Jia Le made many new friends, and their lives became more colorful. Even though they were separated from Lin Xi, they knew that no matter the distance, their genuine friendship would never change.
At the same time, Lin Xi, guided by Fu Mei, gradually adapted to her new life in the dormitory. She realized that even though Wen Jia Le wasn’t by her side, her life was still filled with warmth and happiness. Together with Fu Mei and her other roommates, she experienced countless unforgettable moments, and their friendship quietly blossomed.
