Marked by My Omega Rival After Moving In (GL, ABO) - Chapter 16
Finally, Xiang Wenze fully came to his senses, erupting in a burst of furious insults.
“…You filthy whore!! B1tch, I’ll f***ing—Xiang Shuhuai, you bastard, do you think you’re so important just because of a few million?! I—”
“Five minutes and seventeen seconds,” Xiang Shuhuai said calmly, as if she hadn’t heard him, “Please leave, Mr. Xiang.”
“You motherf—”
The man who, when she was thirteen, had stood at the top of the stairs and thrown a vase at her head, laughing mockingly, was now the one on the ground, utterly defeated. Xiang Shuhuai stood high, looking down at him as he flailed helplessly, caught in his own madness.
In his frenzy, Xiang Wenze rushed forward to strike her, but he was immediately pinned down by several security guards who had been waiting, forcing him out the door with rough force.
However, Xiang Shuhuai didn’t feel any satisfaction, at most, she felt bored.
It was like seeing a rat scurry away—it ran off, and that was the end of it. There was nothing to feel proud or smug about.
Still cursing loudly, Xiang Wenze struggled, shouting, “I—Short-lived b1tch, bastard’s daughter, born with a filthy bone, Xiang Shuhuai, you illegitimate child, you think you’re something special?! Pretentious trash… I—ugh…”
His insults suddenly stopped, replaced by painful retching and low coughing. This caught Xiang Shuhuai’s attention as she was about to return to her office.
She remembered the security guards weren’t supposed to act until given orders.
“Watch your mouth!”
It was Yu Xiaoxiao’s voice, sounding quite angry.
“I’m telling you, you’re defaming me, disrupting the company’s operations. If you say another word, I’ll call the police!”
…With the righteous tone in her voice, Xiang Shuhuai almost thought that Yu Xiaoxiao had been the one to punch Xiang Wenze in the stomach just now.
“You—cough—who the hell are you?! I’m cursing Xiang Shuhuai, this cheap b1tch, what does it have to do with you—”
“—Bang!”
…The sound of a man being knocked to the ground.
Yu Xiaoxiao was furious, as if she could immediately stomp on his face if he said another word.
The security guards quickly reacted, once again restraining Xiang Wenze, preventing him from getting up, and separating the two.
Xiang Shuhuai didn’t want to say Yu Xiaoxiao’s name in front of Xiang Wenze, in case he dragged her into the mess. She hurried down the stairs, but was immediately overwhelmed by a suffocating scent of alpha pheromones, making her instincts scream for her to run.
She hesitated, but fortunately, two police officers arrived quickly, having already understood the situation. After asking a few simple questions, they half-persuaded, half-forced Xiang Wenze to leave.
Yu Xiaoxiao still glared at him as he left, flexing her right wrist. There was a bit of bl00d on her knuckles, but no wound. It was likely from Xiang Wenze’s nosebleed. After all, she’d trained for a long time, and her strikes were aimed at vital points.
“Yu Xiaoxiao,” Xiang Shuhuai called her name.
“Ah… What?!”
Yu Xiaoxiao instinctively turned around but was so startled to see Xiang Shuhuai that she took several steps back, almost tripping over the threshold.
…What a reaction. Xiang Shuhuai couldn’t help but smile.
She’d been so bold just a moment ago.
Yu Xiaoxiao steadied herself, avoiding eye contact with her, but for some reason, she seemed a little guilty, “Xiang—Xiang Shuhuai…”
“Didn’t you say we’re going out?” Xiang Shuhuai asked, “Are we going?”
Despite her not looking directly at her, upon hearing the question, Yu Xiaoxiao’s expression brightened immediately, like a child.
“…Of course!”
“Alright.” Xiang Shuhuai nodded, “Wait for me. I’ll go upstairs to inform An Ning.”
There wasn’t much to explain. On the way here, Yu Xiaoxiao had already sent her a message, saying that work had been arranged, and An Ning would handle the situation with the front desk staff. It was just that because of the alpha pheromones from Xiang Wenze, Xiang Shuhuai had been a bit worried and returned to her office to take an injection.
The cold medicine flowed into her veins, and the sharp pain exploded inside her body, especially where the glands were. Xiang Shuhuai had gotten used to it, though, and still had the strength to dispose of the syringe and throw it into the proper waste bin.
She curled up in her office chair, tightly gripping the armrests, drenched in cold sweat, waiting for the pain to subside.
Amid the throbbing pain, she suddenly thought of Yu Xiaoxiao.
The lively, reckless girl with those round, bright eyes, always so carefree.
…She reminded Xiang Shuhuai of a little golden retriever or a Bernese mountain dog from when she was a child…
Small and fluffy, spinning around her feet, wagging its tail like a propeller. It would bark angrily at her, trying to chase her off, but when it came to actually biting, it would hesitate, not daring to hurt her. Kind and righteous, it would protect anyone who was in danger without hesitation.
Xiang Shuhuai couldn’t help but find this thought amusing, but she was in too much pain to laugh, and could only manage a slight smile.
Once the pain slowly faded away, she stayed in her chair for a while longer, gathering enough strength to support herself.
She stood up, changed into a set of non-work clothes.
She didn’t mind being with Yu Xiaoxiao at all; it wasn’t forced. In fact, when she was with her, the noise around her would stop, and she would get a rare and brief moment of relaxation—Xiang Shuhuai had to remind herself not to get too attached to that feeling.
When she returned to the lobby, Yu Xiaoxiao had already made herself at home with the two front desk girls, holding a handkerchief someone had given her, laughing and chatting away. When she saw Xiang Shuhuai, she was startled, and everyone stopped what they were doing.
“Office ice-breaker tip: complain about the boss.” The thought suddenly popped into Xiang Shuhuai’s head. She helplessly shook her head and walked over.
Yu Xiaoxiao called out to her, “Xiang Shuhuai—”
The front desk staff also greeted her, “President Xiang.”
“You did great. There will be extra bonuses at the end of the month.” Xiang Shuhuai nodded to them, “Next time, if something like this happens again, just let me know and call security or the police. Your safety comes first. Thanks for your hard work. Later, ask Assistant Yi to order afternoon tea for you, take a good rest.”
After saying that, she turned to Yu Xiaoxiao. “Let’s go.”
“Uh…” Yu Xiaoxiao blinked at her, caught off guard. “Okay…”
She followed Xiang Shuhuai, still waving energetically at the front desk girls as they left. Xiang Shuhuai almost imagined a fluffy tail wagging behind her in farewell.
Once they left the company, Yu Xiaoxiao looked at her for a moment before suddenly saying, “Xiang Shuhuai?”
“What?” Xiang Shuhuai asked.
“You,” Yu Xiaoxiao looked surprised, “You seem… actually pretty kind.”
So, she’d always thought she was bad?
It wasn’t entirely wrong. Xiang Shuhuai thought, maybe it was just her animal instincts?
…She was just too easily fooled.
With that thought in mind, she glanced at Yu Xiaoxiao but didn’t say anything.
That look made Yu Xiaoxiao choke on her words, glaring at her, “…Xiang Shuhuai!!”
“Where are we going?” Xiang Shuhuai asked casually. “You said it, the place is up to you.”
Yu Xiaoxiao lifted her chin, a smug expression appearing on her face.
“Come with me, little President Xiang.” She practically bounced with excitement, “When we get there, you’ll see.”
Yu Xiaoxiao’s emotions were like a rollercoaster—one moment angry, the next moment bouncing with joy at the thought of fun.
What a child’s temper, Xiang Shuhuai thought, almost sighing.
She shook her head and followed along with her.
