Marked by the Milk-Soft Alpha I Picked Up (Entertainment Circle) - Chapter 13
Lin Ruoyun opened the door, her heart full of questions.
The food on the table was exactly as she had left it. It hadn’t been touched.
It turned out that Naitang had been starving, waiting at the window all night for her to come home. Lin Ruoyun’s heart felt as if it had been placed in an airtight glass bottle, feeling dull, sour, and very uncomfortable. She called out Naitang’s name and walked inside, but there was no response.
Lin Ruoyun walked directly to the bedroom, pushed open the door, and saw Guan Yinghan hiding behind the curtains, her hands wrapped around her knees, curled into a dark shadow. She looked so heartbroken and lonely.
Lin Ruoyun felt more and more guilty for leaving a mentally five-year-old Alpha alone at home. She nervously walked to Guan Yinghan and, not caring whether her intelligence allowed her to understand, sincerely held her watch up to her.
“Sister said she would come back early. See? It’s only been an hour.”
Guan Yinghan’s jealousy was swelling, and her hands clenched at her sides until her knuckles were white. I believe you (not). Do you think I’m a fool? It’s been two hours and seven minutes. I’ve been looking out the window for so long, I’m practically a ‘looking-for-wife’ stone.
Well, I am a fool now.
Lin Ruoyun was distressed to find that the little one she had taken in was so stubborn. A few simple words couldn’t soothe her. Lin Ruoyun sighed and sat down beside Naitang, poking her shoulder with her finger.Â
“Naitang…”
No response.
She reached out again to pat her cheek.Â
“Naitang…”
Still no response.
Lin Ruoyun turned her head and leaned in, forcing her to look at her.Â
“Are you mad?”
Still no response.
Ugh! This little one is holding a grudge against me.
Just as Ruoyun didn’t know what to do, Guan Yinghan slowly looked up, her eyes full of vulnerability.Â
“Sister, don’t leave me.”
In an instant, Lin Ruoyun’s heart froze, as if pricked by a dense array of needles. It was a painful and sour feeling. During her time with Naitang, she had always been so obedient and adorable, eating whatever was given to her and never making excessive demands.Â
Lin Ruoyun always thought that giving her food, clothes, and teaching her to read and count was the life Naitang wanted. But only now did she vaguely realize that Naitang had no family, no friends, and not even any memories.Â
Naitang’s world had only her. But she had left her alone at home, to face the fear that the darkness brought. It was… truly cruel.
Lin Ruoyun hesitated, then reached out and affectionately patted Guan Yinghan’s head. In the moonlight, her voice was soft and gentle.Â
“I’m sorry, Naitang. Sister promises you that from now on, wherever I go, I’ll take you with me, okay?”
Guan Yinghan looked at her intently, and her eyes began to turn red. Although Ruoyun’s memory had been destroyed, some of her deeply ingrained actions and habits still surfaced unconsciously.
In the past, when Ruoyun did something to make her angry, she would rub her head against her side until she broke and laughed. Only then would she look up from her arms, her beautiful eyes curving into an arc that made it impossible to scold her.Â
It was just like now, with the light in her eyes looking especially soft because of her guilt. Also, whenever her stepmother had the maids bully her, Ruoyun would see her as a victim and would, just like now, use her soft fingers to touch her head, gently and lovingly comforting her.Â
“Guanguan, don’t be sad. It doesn’t matter that they don’t want you. You still have me. From now on, I’ll be the one to love you.”
In truth, Ruoyun had no idea how strong she was. She didn’t care about the lives of the Guan family members, and she wouldn’t beg for charity, not even the warmth from the Guan family. But seeing Ruoyun feel sad and tearful for her always filled her heart with warmth. Every time, she would wrap her arms around Ruoyun and bury her face in her fragrant neck, saying, “Having you is enough!”
Even though Ruoyun had forgotten her and was repulsed by her pheromones, deep down, in the subconscious she couldn’t control, she was still her Omega. Her one and only beloved Ruoyun.
Feeling comforted, Guan Yinghan’s slightly dim eyes instantly lit up. The previous disappointment was swept away. She handed Lin Ruoyun the wrinkled paper in her hand as if she were offering a treasure.Â
“Sister, I finished my homework.”
Lin Ruoyun looked down and was surprised to find that she had gotten everything right. Not only that, but she had also finished tomorrow’s homework. Her little Naitang was so much better than those brats on the internet who didn’t do their homework and made their parents explode with anger.
Feeling proud, Lin Ruoyun remembered the gift she had brought for Naitang. She pointed to the chocolate on the low table.Â
“Naitang, that’s your reward.”
Guan Yinghan didn’t reach for it. She just looked at her with her dark, clear eyes. “I don’t want that reward.”
Lin Ruoyun ruffled her hair. “Then what reward does Naitang want?”
Guan Yinghan leaned in close to her. She blinked innocently, her eyes pure and harmless. “Sister, I want a kiss.”
Lin Ruoyun took a deep breath, reminding herself again of the urgency of teaching Naitang about AO physiology.Â
However, before she could adopt a mature, authoritative demeanor, Naitang had already lowered her head in disappointment, the little flame in her eyes quickly extinguishing.
“Sister, you said that if I behaved, I could have a kiss.”
Lin Ruoyun: “…”
Fine!
It’s my fault anyway. I should make it up to Naitang’s hurt feelings.
Besides, her little Naitang was so beautiful. Beautiful people naturally attract affection.
Lin Ruoyun placed her hands on Guan Yinghan’s shoulders, crossing them at the back of her head. She used a little force to pull her closer. In the moonlight, she looked at Naitang for two seconds.Â
The little one’s eyes were wet and clear, pure and harmless, like a newborn cub.
Lin Ruoyun silently repeated to herself three times: She’s just a child, she’s only a child, she is a child.
After that, she slowly leaned in and gave Guan Yinghan a light kiss on the forehead. The touch was soft and smooth. Lin Ruoyun was still caught up in the delicate sensation when she suddenly felt her world spin.
In her ear, she heard Guan Yinghan’s dissatisfied voice.
“Sister, that’s not how you kiss. I’ll teach you.”
