Guan Yinghan pointed to the right. “Sister, let’s go over there. There’s an empty spot.”

Lin Ruoyun held her lunch box, and her lips curved into a smile. “Okay.”

The two of them sat in a corner. As Lin Ruoyun opened her lunch box, an Omega dressed as a maid came over with her own meal. “Hello, my name is Ji Wan.”

A strong smell of lemon filled the air. Lin Ruoyun and Guan Yinghan looked up at the same time. One’s eyes were friendly and warm, while the others were icy and cold. Ji Wan looked at Guan Yinghan and instinctively flinched. She quietly moved closer to Lin Ruoyun. 

“I… I play the maid of Sang Rou. Sister, which one are you playing?”

Lin Ruoyun’s smile was soft. “Hello, I’m Lin Ruoyun. I’m playing your mistress, Sang Rou.”

Ji Wan was secretly amazed. The Second Miss’s Omega is really beautiful. Please forgive her for having a limited vocabulary and education. She couldn’t find any words to describe Lin Ruoyun’s beauty. After a long moment of stunned silence, Ji Wan finally stammered,

 “Wow! What a coincidence! So you’re the one…”

Before she could finish, a faint cough was heard. Ji Wan’s heart skipped a beat. Oh no! How could I talk to her in front of the Second Miss and even call Lin Ruoyun “Sister”?

Ji Wan instantly sobered up. She quickly started eating her rice, stuffing her mouth and secretly glancing at Guan Yinghan over her lunch box. Lin Ruoyun didn’t notice their interaction. She just felt that the atmosphere was a little strange. She turned to look at Guan Yinghan.

Guan Yinghan’s nerves tensed, and she instantly switched to her innocent, pure mode. Her eyes curved, and her long, curled eyelashes fluttered, making her look as soft and adorable as possible. 

Lin Ruoyun unconsciously placed her hand on top of her head and gently stroked her twice.

Guan Yinghan obediently lowered her eyelashes and even tilted her head to cooperate with Lin Ruoyun’s movements, like a kitten being petted by its owner. 

All that was missing was a roll on the floor.

The Second Miss’s personality switch is too extreme!

Lin Ruoyun used her chopsticks to put the big chicken drumstick from her lunch box into Guan Yinghan’s. She turned and saw Ji Wan secretly looking at Naitang. Lin Ruoyun thought for a moment and took the initiative to introduce Guan Yinghan. 

“Her name is Naitang, and she’s my assistant.”

Ji Wan was stunned for a moment. She knew that some Omegas on the set were jealous of Lin Ruoyun and secretly mocked her for taking in a “fool.” But Lin Ruoyun had never shown any contempt for the Second Miss. 

Whether in private or in public, she had never used words like “foolish” or “crazy” to describe her. Lin Ruoyun treated the Second Miss with kindness, gave her warmth, care, and… dignity.

Thinking of this, a hint of gratitude appeared in Ji Wan’s eyes as she looked at Lin Ruoyun.

Guan Yinghan, who was wearing disposable gloves and peeling a shrimp, cast a subtle, warning glance at Ji Wan. She didn’t like it when Ruoyun’s attention was on someone else when she was by her side. Guan Yinghan tried to pull Ruoyun’s attention back. “Sister, eat shrimp.”

Lin Ruoyun looked down and saw that her white rice was covered with peeled shrimp. The shrimp shells had been cleanly removed, and the tender, white shrimp meat was coated in a layer of sauce that made her mouth water. 

Lin Ruoyun instinctively reached for her lunch box, but Guan Yinghan was faster. She scooped up a shrimp with her spoon and held it to her lips.

Lin Ruoyun hesitated for two seconds, then opened her mouth to take it. “Thank you.”

Guan Yinghan carefully fed Lin Ruoyun, and the doting look in her eyes flashed and was gone. “Sister, is it delicious?”

Lin Ruoyun chewed on the shrimp, her smile gentle. “It’s very delicious.”

Guan Yinghan’s eyes sparkled. Her long eyelashes fluttered, and she put on an innocent expression. “Sister, I want a reward.”

Lin Ruoyun’s bl00d rushed to her head. This little one is a master negotiator. This is all my fault for making a reward plan in the first place.

Lin Ruoyun thought of an excuse, prepared herself to refuse, and looked up at Guan Yinghan. All her words instantly got stuck in her throat. The little one was staring at her, her eyes clear and pure, shimmering with anticipation like dazzling glass.

So difficult! The little one’s beauty was too powerful.

Lin Ruoyun’s flimsy defenses gradually softened. Her eyes glanced at Ji Wan, and she nodded slightly.

 “Uh, okay! I’ll give you a reward when we get home tonight…”

Before she could finish, Lin Ruoyun felt that her words were too suggestive and could lead to misunderstandings. Seeing Ji Wan’s “gossipy” expression, she gave an awkward smile.

 “Sister has a scene to film this afternoon. You are good and follow the production assistant. You’ll only get a reward if you behave.”

Guan Yinghan’s lips secretly curved into a smile. “Got it, Sister.”

The afternoon was mainly for the supporting actress and actor’s scenes. Although it was Lin Ruoyun’s first time playing a second female lead, she had years of experience as an extra. She understood the director’s instructions quickly and had great chemistry with the other actors. In one scene, there was almost no need for a retake. 

After the first scene was shot, the director seemed to be inspired. He called Lin Ruoyun and the supporting actor over to discuss. 

“You two did a great job. It has a lot of ‘feel.’ I want to add a kissing scene to the next one to heighten the tragic atmosphere. Is that okay with you two?”

The supporting actor was a new Omega star who had been in the industry for a few years. A kissing scene was nothing new to him. He immediately nodded and agreed.

However, Lin Ruoyun was not willing.

The supporting actor was very good-natured and tried to persuade her. 

“Do you have any concerns? It’s okay. I was also nervous about my first kissing scene. How about this? I’ll talk to the director and just have us barely touch. Audiences love shipping couples, and a little bit of romance will definitely increase the ratings. You want this show to do well, right?”

Lin Ruoyun lowered her eyes and bit her lower lip hard. “Can we… fake the kiss?”

The supporting actor was stunned for a moment, then smiled. “Of course. The effect is pretty much the same anyway.”

The director saw that they had reached an agreement and gestured for the crew to set up the kissing scene.

Guan Yinghan was with the crew. She heard the two words “kissing scene” in the hushed whispers of the busy staff. She stared intently at the temporary studio. Her heart felt as if it had been pricked by a blunt object. She couldn’t tell if it was pain or sorrow.

 It felt as if she had fallen into the deep sea, with the raging waves all around her, about to suffocate her.

Guan Yinghan didn’t know how long she had been staring at Lin Ruoyun’s back. Her eyes were misty, and her vision gradually became blurry. That is, until a teasing voice came from beside her. “What’s wrong? Your Omega is filming an intimate scene with someone else, and you can’t handle it?”

Guan Yinghan spun around, meeting Jiang Hui’s half-smiling eyes. Jiang Hui had originally intended to mock Guan Yinghan but was surprised to see a hint of red in her eyes. She smiled sarcastically. 

“I finally know why I never stood a chance. Because… Lin Ruoyun just has to stand there and do nothing, and I’ve already lost completely.”

Guan Yinghan’s eyebrows furrowed. She seemed very reluctant to discuss this topic with Jiang Hui. “Ah Hui, I told you from the beginning that I have an Omega.”

“I know.” Jiang Hui sat down next to her. She skillfully took a cigarette out of a pack, lit it, and took a deep drag. 

“For years, people have been saying that the Second Miss of the Guan family is my sugar daddy. You could have stopped the rumors with just a single word, but you didn’t.”

Jiang Hui paused, slowly exhaling a cloud of smoke. “Guan Er, you gave me the illusion that you liked me.”

Guan Yinghan didn’t like the taste of the MAILB cigarette. It had a strong, acrid flavor. She turned her head slightly to the side and coughed quietly twice.

Jiang Hui lowered her eyes and extinguished the cigarette on the stone steps. Guan Yinghan’s eyes were fixed on the faint spark until it went out. Only then did she speak again. “If Uncle Jiang hadn’t taken that knife for me, I would have been dead long ago. Ah Hui, it’s my fault you lost your father.”

Jiang Hui hid the sadness on her face in the shadows. 

“Protecting you was Dad’s job. The First Madam was the one who was cruel. It wasn’t your fault.”

Even though she said that, Guan Yinghan still felt she owed Jiang Hui. She turned her head. The cold, broken light on her face kept shifting. 

“Ah Hui, I just hope that with my identity as the Second Miss of the Guan family, you can have an easier time in the entertainment industry. It’s the only thing I can do for you.”

“That’s right. With the Second Miss of the Guan family backing me, I can have a smooth career, choose any project I want, and win awards effortlessly,” Jiang Hui said, suddenly looking envious. 

“Only a fool like Lin Ruoyun would be so stubborn and naive, thinking that she can make it in the entertainment industry just by working hard. If you weren’t helping her behind the scenes, she would probably be a resident singer at some small bar right now.”

“Ruoyun loves acting. I’ll get her the best,” Guan Yinghan said, looking at Jiang Hui. Her eyes seemed to be pleading. “Ah Hui, I’m entrusting my most important person to you. Will you…”

“Don’t worry,” Jiang Hui said, knowing what she was going to say and agreeing without hesitation. “I’ll do everything I can to help your Omega.”

“Thank you, Ah Hui,” Guan Yinghan said, her smile sincere.
