The Dream’s Edge crew had a last-minute change of the female lead. All the scenes that Zhan Qing had filmed needed to be reshot, so the production schedule was very tight. They were still filming late into the evening.

During a break, Guan Yinghan ran excitedly to Lin Ruoyun with a carton of milk and a lunch box. “Sister, I got this lunch box from the production assistant.”

Lin Ruoyun rubbed her head, praising her without hesitation. “Naitang is so capable.”

Guan Yinghan showed a gentle smile and wrapped a blanket, warmed by her body heat, around Lin Ruoyun’s exposed shoulders. Jiang Hui happened to walk by with her own lunch box and saw the whole scene. 

She looked back and forth between the two of them, and her smile became meaningful. “Oh, Ruoyun, when did you hide such a treasure by your side?”

Lin Ruoyun and Jiang Hui had been acting together all day. Their chemistry was getting better, and their relationship was becoming more harmonious. Lin Ruoyun’s face turned as red as a tomato. 

“Senior Jiang, she… she’s my… my assistant.”

Guan Yinghan’s eyes narrowed dangerously. In a place where Lin Ruoyun couldn’t see, she shot a warning glare at Jiang Hui. Jiang Hui was in a teasing mood and intentionally ignored Guan Yinghan’s look. She elbowed Lin Ruoyun. “I have to say, your little assistant looks so silly, but she’s quite considerate. She even warmed up your milk.”

“Senior Jiang, Naitang is not silly,” Lin Ruoyun corrected her seriously. “She’s just a little simple.”

Jiang Hui almost choked on her rice. Simple? Do the words ‘simple’ even exist in the Second Miss of the Guan family’s dictionary?

Just as Jiang Hui was about to say something, she suddenly heard a few Omegas on the other side of the wall talking about her.

“Oh my god, I’ve been on this set for so long and I’ve never had such a rich lunch box. There’s even grilled lamb chops and black cod.”

“This is all thanks to Empress Jiang. I heard the Second Miss was worried she wouldn’t be used to the usual lunch boxes, so she had a chef from the Guan family make it specially for her. We’re just getting to enjoy the benefits.”

“I’ve never seen them either. Maybe Empress Jiang likes to eat them.”

Lin Ruoyun’s curiosity was piqued by the Omegas’ conversation on the other side of the wall. She lowered her head and opened her lunch box, and her pupils quivered slightly. Ground rice sprouts? 

For Omegas from big cities, they probably hadn’t even heard of this kind of wild vegetable, let alone seen it. But Ruoyun had grown up in Dawan Village, where these vegetables were everywhere. They were also her favorite. 

However, Tianhai City was far from Dawan Village, and ground rice sprouts were not easy to store. In addition, they tasted slightly bitter, so vendors wouldn’t sell them because there was no profit to be made.

It was no exaggeration to say that Lin Ruoyun had even dreamed of eating this dish. Seeing it now, her eyes lit up, and she couldn’t wait to put some in her mouth. “It’s really delicious.” Lin Ruoyun squinted happily, completely missing the hand that reached out to wipe the corner of her mouth.

Lin Ruoyun’s mouth was touched, and she instinctively pulled back. Guan Yinghan lowered her eyelashes and forcefully pulled her into an embrace from the side. “Sister… it’s not clean yet.”

Lin Ruoyun stiffened and reflexively tried to break free. But Guan Yinghan pressed her close, hugging her even tighter. “Naitang is your assistant. I have to take care of you.”

Lin Ruoyun turned her head in a daze and met Guan Yinghan’s gaze. She couldn’t tell if it was an illusion, but she found that Naitang’s eyes no longer held the usual silly look. Instead, there was a wild, domineering quality she had never seen before, demanding her obedience.

Lin Ruoyun silently reminded herself that she absolutely had to give Naitang a lesson on AO physiology when they got back. However, the next second, she looked up, and Naitang’s eyes were back to being pure and innocent, as if her previous observation had truly been her imagination.

“Sister, is this vegetable very delicious?”

Lin Ruoyun smiled. It seemed she had overthrown it. Naitang was still the little Naitang who didn’t know anything and called all green leafy vegetables “green vegetables.” Lin Ruoyun put a ground rice sprout in her mouth. “Mhm, it’s very delicious.”

Guan Yinghan’s eyes lit up with joy. She pushed all the ground rice sprouts from her lunch box to Lin Ruoyun. “Sister, you like these, so you can have them all.”

Jiang Hui was silently eating her rice on the side. Even though she had convinced herself to let go of Guan Yinghan, seeing her being so attentive to Lin Ruoyun still made her feel a little sour. 

In Jiang Hui’s memory, Guan Yinghan wasn’t very fond of smiling. She was cold and distant. Jiang Hui always thought that Guan Yinghan treated everyone the same way: You can’t have me. But there was one exception.

The Second Miss of the Guan family probably had no idea how heartwarming the look in her eyes was when she looked at Lin Ruoyun.

Lin Ruoyun noticed the gaze from her side and looked up. Jiang Hui met her eyes, quickly changed her expression, and her eyes were filled with a subtle smile. “Ruoyun, your little assistant is so considerate. Tell me, where did you find her? I want to get one too.”

Lin Ruoyun’s ears quietly turned red. She selfishly wanted to protect Naitang and didn’t want to talk about her too much in front of outsiders. So, she turned the topic back to Jiang Hui.

“Senior, the people around you are also very considerate.” Lin Ruoyun picked up a ground rice sprout, playfully dangled it, and then put it in her mouth. “Ground rice sprouts… are very delicious.”

Jiang Hui was surprised for a few seconds, then she understood. Lin Ruoyun must have heard the conversation of the Omegas on the other side of the wall and mistakenly thought that the ground rice sprouts were prepared for her by the Second Miss of the Guan family. 

But what she didn’t know was that the entire show, the entire film company, and even Guan Yinghan herself, existed all for her, Lin Ruoyun.

Jiang Hui turned her head and quietly exchanged glances with Guan Yinghan, with a hint of a mischievous smile in her eyes.

Damn you, Guan Er! When you were fighting with the First Madam, I helped you cover up a lot. But now you’re hiding everything from me, and you won’t even tell me why you’re pretending to be crazy and dumb around Lin Ruoyun.

Hmph! If that’s the case, don’t blame me for adding another stumbling block to your thorny path of winning back your wife.

Jiang Hui turned to Lin Ruoyun and winked. “You believe the rumors outside, too?”

Lin Ruoyun never liked gossiping about others, especially when the person was right in front of her. She could only throw the question back. 

“I… I’m not sure… Senior Jiang, do you like the Second Miss of the Guan family?”

Before Jiang Hui answered, she gave Guan Yinghan a meaningful look. At this moment, the Second Miss’s face was beyond terrifying. However, Jiang Hui was now bulletproof. She didn’t mind stirring up trouble and nodded, then sighed. 

“I’ve known her for five years, but she… she fell in love with someone else.”

Of course, Lin Ruoyun had no idea that the “someone else” Jiang Hui was talking about was herself. She widened her eyes in surprise and immediately imagined a 500-episode soap opera-level love story.

A huge pot fell from the sky, making Guan Yinghan feel a tightness in her chest. Her eyebrows lifted high, and the coldness in her eyes went straight for Jiang Hui. Jiang Hui caught her gaze but wasn’t flustered at all. 

She gave Guan Yinghan a provocative look, and when she turned back, she bit her tongue, and a hint of moisture filled her eyes. “Ruoyun, don’t you think she’s a scumbag?”

Lin Ruoyun’s initial shock wore off. She thought that the Second Miss of the Guan family was her boss, so she couldn’t badmouth her behind her back. Besides, she had never even met the Second Miss. 

But Jiang Hui had been so kind to her both in and out of character, so Lin Ruoyun’s scales of justice tilted unsurprisingly toward Jiang Hui. She whispered softly to Jiang Hui, “Well… the Second Miss of the Guan family seems to be… a little bit of a scumbag.”

Jiang Hui: !!

Guan Yinghan: ??

Guan Yinghan was absolutely furious. She had been wrongly labeled a “scumbag Alpha” for the past five years. 

If Ruoyun ever regained her memory, she wouldn’t be able to explain herself even with ten mouths. She lowered her eyes, instantly hiding the anger. When she got close to Lin Ruoyun, she was back to her usual gentle and harmless self.

“Sister, Naitang was just watching the actors from the other crew. The bad guy was about to win, but he kept talking and talking, and in the end, the good guy was saved, and he was killed.”

Lin Ruoyun’s eyebrow twitched. What kind of strange plot is this? Is this the legendary plot where the writer doesn’t let the character die?

Lin Ruoyun just thought it was a child’s sudden curiosity, but Jiang Hui understood the subtext of Guan Yinghan’s words: Do you know how the villain died? From talking too much!

A chill ran down Jiang Hui’s spine. Under the Second Miss’s deadly stare, she secretly made a motion as if she were zipping her mouth shut.
