- Chapter 24 - Only Listen to Jiejie
Guan Yinghan was rushed into the operating room immediately.
The red light on the door came on.
Lin Ruoyun stood frozen for a long time. She only trembled and seemed to wake up from hell when Ji Wan put a jacket over her.
She numbly stumbled to the side, her shaking hand feeling for the long bench outside the operating room. She used the armrest to support herself and sat down.
Jiang Hui rushed to the hospital in a panic and stopped Ji Wan, who was pacing back and forth outside the operating room.
“Guan…” Jiang Hui glanced at the dazed Lin Ruoyun and changed her words. “How is Nai Tang?”
Ji Wan’s eyes were swollen like walnuts. “She’s still in the emergency room.”
Jiang Hui slowly moved next to Lin Ruoyun and patted her hair. “Ruoyun, I think you should get checked out too. Falling from such a height might have injured your internal organs. It’s better to be safe than sorry.”
Lin Ruoyun’s slightly dazed eyes moved, and she slowly turned her head. She said in a low voice, “I’m fine, don’t worry. I want to wait for Nai Tang to wake up.”
Jiang Hui gave a soft “hmm” and didn’t try to persuade her anymore.
Today’s events were too shocking for Jiang Hui.
Even though she didn’t see Guan Er rush into the fire to save Lin Ruoyun with her own eyes, the details she heard from others on the crew made her feel incredibly shocked.
Guan Er rushing in to save Lin Ruoyun at a life-or-death moment was enough to show that in her heart, Lin Ruoyun was more important than her own life.
If Jiang Hui had held on to a sliver of hope for Guan Yinghan before, she no longer had any illusions after this.
Five hours later, the light outside the operating room went out with a ding, and the door opened.
Ji Wan was the first to rush forward. “Doctor… how is she?”
The doctor was tired from working all night but still patiently reassured her. “Thanks to you all for laying down cushions to cushion her fall, otherwise she wouldn’t have been so lucky. The patient’s head and back wounds look deep, but her bones and internal organs are fine.
After she wakes up, we’ll do a full-body check. If there are no problems, she can be transferred from the ICU to a regular ward.”
As soon as the doctor finished speaking, Lin Ruoyun finally let out a choked sob that was mixed with a smile, and she stumbled toward the intensive care unit.
Through the glass, she saw Guan Yinghan hooked up to various tubes and machines. She curled her fingers and gently tapped on the glass. “Nai Tang… wake up soon. Jiejie will take you home.”
…
The air was filled with the smell of disinfectant, and the beeping of the heart monitor was in her ears.
Guan Yinghan struggled to open her eyes. Half of her body ached as if it were splitting open. She could only weakly move her fingers and make a sound she thought was loud.
“Ruoyun… Ruoyun…”
Ji Wan heard the weak sound and turned around in surprise. “Second Miss… you’re finally awake.”
Guan Yinghan’s blurry gaze moved from Ji Wan’s face to Jiang Hui’s face. She didn’t see Lin Ruoyun, and her expression became anxious and helpless. “Where’s Ruoyun?”
Jiang Hui’s hanging heart finally settled, and she couldn’t resist teasing Guan Er. “Your Omega left a long time ago. Hey! Why would Lin Ruoyun care about a fool like you? Didn’t she tell you yesterday to follow the props master? She doesn’t want you anymore.”
Guan Yinghan stared at her blankly for several seconds. Tears suddenly streamed down her face. She couldn’t stop them even with her eyes closed. The thin streams of water slid down her cheeks. “Ruoyun left… she doesn’t want me…”
“Hey, hey, hey, Guan Er! Don’t be like that. Oh my God, are you crying?”
Jiang Hui was stunned for a second, then fumbled for a tissue. “My God, am I seeing things? Guan Er, you’re actually crying.”
Seeing this, Ji Wan quickly pushed Jiang Hui away and glared at her impatiently. “Sister Hui, what are you saying? Why would you scare the Second Miss like that?”
Jiang Hui rubbed her nose and moved to the side, muttering to herself.
Is the Second Miss of the Guan family really that easily scared?
Well, it looks like it.
Ji Wan moved closer to Guan Yinghan’s bed and whispered to comfort her. “Second Miss, don’t listen to Sister Hui. A police officer came just now, and Sister Ruoyun went to give her statement.”
But Guan Yinghan didn’t believe her. She turned her head on the pillow, refusing to talk to anyone. Her eyes were unfocused, and her face was terrifyingly pale.
Until—
A joyful voice came from the doorway.
“Nai Tang…”
Lin Ruoyun ran to the bedside, bent down, and took her hand that was on the blanket. “You’re awake? Does anything hurt?”
The moisture in Guan Yinghan’s unfocused eyes quickly returned. She blinked hard, and then blinked again, and finally, a sob escaped her throat. “Jiejie… you didn’t leave. You didn’t run away.”
Lin Ruoyun’s nose couldn’t help but feel sore.
Nai Tang’s needs were always so small. She just wanted to stay by her side and get a little bit of attention and care.
But Lin Ruoyun was always so caught up in the Alpha/Omega issues, while Nai Tang was always persistent. She would rush toward her through a storm, over a mountain of swords, or into a sea of fire without hesitation.
Lin Ruoyun slowly rubbed her slender, pale knuckles. “How could I leave? I want to go home with Nai Tang.”
“They… said you left… and that you wouldn’t talk to me anymore…” Guan Yinghan’s voice was choked up, and she accused them with every word, her body trembling with fear. “Jiejie… they’re lying, right? You won’t leave me, will you?”
“Yes, they were lying. They were so bad.” Lin Ruoyun couldn’t help but hook her arm around Guan Yinghan’s neck and press her face against her cheek. “Don’t listen to them. From now on, you only need to listen to Jiejie!”
“I will only listen to Jiejie,” Guan Yinghan said, ignoring her numb body and desperately trying to get closer to her. “Jiejie, don’t send me away.”
Lin Ruoyun’s heart felt like it was soaking in lava, softening into a mess. “I’m sorry, Nai Tang… I told you to follow the props master, I just wanted you to learn a little something. It was my fault for not considering your feelings. If you don’t like it, then you don’t have to go.”
“Jiejie… you don’t have to worry. Naitang can do better than them without learning anything.”
Guan Yinghan couldn’t move one side of her body, so she rubbed her face against Lin Ruoyun’s soft one. “I will protect you.”
Lin Ruoyun chuckled, taking her words as a child’s boast. “It really looks like I can’t let you follow the props master. That girl, Xiao Jiang, is good in every way, except for her habit of bragging. She’s teaching bad habits to our Naitang.”
This time, Jiang Hui truly understood. The distance between Guan Er being a vicious little wolf and a teary-eyed little white rabbit was just a Lin Ruoyun away.
But she didn’t have a chance to say anything to ruin the atmosphere before Ji Wan pulled her out of the room.
Jiang Hui shook off her hand. Her feet weren’t steady, and she stumbled against Ji Wan. The scent of lemons brushed past her nose, and Jiang Hui’s eyes became clouded.
“You two, a master playing dumb and a servant playing Omega, why are you doing this?”
Ji Wan hurriedly straightened her back. As she helped Jiang Hui steady herself, she also took a step back, a suspicious blush on her face. “Se… Second Miss won’t let me say.”
Jiang Hui persistently leaned in, resting her head on Ji Wan’s chest. She heard her frantic heartbeat and couldn’t help but curve her lips. “Come on, tell me. Why isn’t Guan Er taking Lin Ruoyun back to the Guan family, and instead staying by her side and pretending to be a fool?”
“Sister Hui, you always say that when you try to get information about Second Miss from me, but in the end, the old master always finds out.”
Ji Wan blushed as she backed away, but Jiang Hui pinned her against the wall. She was so flustered that she almost blurted out the truth. “Second Miss said… the old master has been in a high position for a long time, and his way of doing things is too iron-fisted. It would scare Miss Lin, so…”
“So, Guan Er is hiding Lin Ruoyun by her side?”
Jiang Hui’s right hand moved down to Ji Wan’s shoulder. Her fingertips lightly brushed over her scent gland. “Then what does that have to do with her pretending to be a fool? Did they know each other before?”
Ji Wan really couldn’t handle it. In her haste, her intelligence came back for a second. “Si… Sister Hui, Miss Muwei just called me and said that the person who started the fire has been caught. Do you want to…”
“Yes, of course, I do.” Jiang Hui finally let her go, her teeth grinding together. “I want to see who was behind this to harm me.”
