Married the Second Generation Fox Demon with a Baby in a Flash Marriage (GL) - Chapter 1
It was a little after six in the afternoon in early July when the sky suddenly turned gloomy. Immediately after, large raindrops splattered heavily on the ground, instantly changing its color. Dark clouds billowed, and the light grew increasingly dim, as if some supernatural power was stirring up the weather.
High up on the 20th floor of the Zijing Building in Taolin County, the top floor seemed enveloped in low-hanging dark clouds. Lightning struck it, leaving trails of electric light. Occasionally, black shadows flickered past, as if someone was chasing someone else up there, a scene both magical and terrifying. In stark contrast, the auditorium on the 2nd floor below remained completely unaffected by the outside. Strobe lights, rotating colored lights, and spotlights created a dazzling display. The powerful rhythm of the music exploded, driving a group of young men and women who had just finished the college entrance exams into a frenzy.
Today was Lin Yunya, the school beauty of Taolin County High School, celebrating her 19th birthday. She had booked the entire auditorium, which was specifically used for banquets and evening parties, for her birthday party, inviting fifty or sixty classmates to have a wild time.
The usually quiet venue was now as boisterous as a boiling pot. If it weren’t for the good soundproofing, the neighbors would have surely complained.
Having just finished the grueling college entrance exams, whether they had failed or successfully received admission letters, they all needed an opportunity to relax and let loose.
This birthday party came at just the right time.
In the crowd, there was an inconspicuous girl with short hair, wearing a black cake dress and a white cardigan. She was clutching a gift box, her face flushed red as she tried to push through. However, due to her plump figure and lack of agility, she was bumped this way and that, beads of sweat already forming on her forehead.
“Hu Xiaopang (Little Fatty Hu), what are you doing?!” A girl who had been pushed glared at the chubby girl and shoved her, her voice small and quickly drowned out by the surrounding noise.
The chubby girl was pushed against a pillar, instinctively protecting the gift box. She continued to stubbornly squeeze through the swaying crowd, looking as if she had just been pulled out of the water, her hair and clothes completely soaked, water dripping from her hair strands and cuffs. Her round face was as red as a ripe apple, and she was panting like a bellows.
This chubby girl had a very round build, with round, bright eyes and a round, fleshy face. Her arms and legs were fair and tender like lotus roots, and she even had small dimples on the back of her hands. Her whole appearance was quite comical, like a New Year’s painting doll.
She was Hu Mengmeng, Lin Yunya’s high school classmate. The gift box she held in her arms was the birthday present she had bought for Lin Yunya with the money she had saved from part-time jobs after the college entrance exams, along with her accumulated New Year’s red envelope money.
After the birthday song was sung, Hu Mengmeng hadn’t even reached Lin Yunya when everyone started to revel. Hu Mengmeng saw Lin Yunya leave through the door over there, so she tried her best to get over, wanting to personally give Lin Yunya the carefully prepared gift.
Hu Mengmeng rested for a moment and went out through the side door to the carpeted corridor outside. She looked everywhere for Lin Yunya and finally found her in the 1st floor lobby with two other classmates.
Lin Yunya’s long curly hair was half-tied up, and she wore delicate diamond stud earrings and a necklace. She was dressed in a pink formal dress, made of light gauze, decorated with sequins. The sweetheart neckline had a ruffle design, and her face was made up with delicate pink makeup, her fair skin and beautiful features resembling a little princess.
Just looking at her profile, Hu Mengmeng’s face turned red, her eyes filled with excitement and joy.
“Zhenzhen, did you really see Miss Ye? Did she really go to the Zijing Hotel?” Lin Yunya seemed to be waiting for someone, looking at the elevator entrance with anticipation.
“Of course. A classmate of my brother works at the Zijing Hotel and saw Miss Ye with his own eyes. It’s a pity she’s in the presidential suite on the 18th floor, and even the elevator is sealed off. There’s no way for us to go up,” said the girl called Zhenzhen.
Hu Mengmeng didn’t notice what they were saying. She just took a few deep breaths, wiped the sweat from her forehead and palms, and walked over with the gift.
“Xiao Ya, this is my birthday present for you. Happy birthday!” Hu Mengmeng said, her face flushed.
“Thank you, Mengmeng,” Lin Yunya said, returning her gaze to Hu Mengmeng and giving her a perfunctory smile as she accepted the gift.
Seeing Lin Yunya’s smile, Hu Mengmeng smiled too, her blunt, round eyes narrowed into slits, radiating joy from the inside out. She felt that all the hard work and early mornings she had spent working part-time to earn the money hadn’t been in vain.
“Hu Mengmeng, why are you everywhere? Xiao Ya has something to do right now. Since you’ve given your gift, don’t bother us anymore,” Zhenzhen said with some disdain.
“Is there anything else?” Lin Yunya asked Hu Mengmeng, appearing much gentler than Zhenzhen.
“I, I like you!” Hu Mengmeng blurted out, her face turning even redder, her voice trembling slightly. She had been holding it in for a long time, wanting to tell Lin Yunya today, not expecting any response, just wanting to convey her feelings.
“Thank you, Mengmeng. You’re very cute,” Lin Yunya said with a smile, not paying much attention to what Hu Mengmeng had said.
Hu Mengmeng knew she would be rejected, but hearing Lin Yunya say such gentle words, even the rejection was so beautiful and lovely, making her feel both touched and heartbroken. Her goddess was good no matter what she did.
“Hu Mengmeng, shouldn’t you be leaving?” Zhenzhen rolled her eyes and said.
Hu Mengmeng looked at Lin Yunya with some reluctance but still left them. However, when she turned the corner, she couldn’t bear to leave and secretly peeked in Lin Yunya’s direction from behind the wall.
“Oh my god, is this Hu Mengmeng trying to be funny? Look at the way she walks, like a duck, so fat and ugly!” Zhenzhen said after Hu Mengmeng left.
“Xiao Ya, you’re just too nice, always smiling at her and even saying she’s cute. If it were me, I would have been disgusted to death long ago!” another girl said.
“Xiao Lian, do you think Xiao Ya is like you? Our Xiao Ya is a goddess, and a goddess needs elegance and grace. It’s still somewhat useful that Hu Mengmeng helps Xiao Ya with duty and cleaning, and the food from her family’s snack stall is really delicious. We can always eat for free when we go. But she’s really bold, thinking that doing these things makes her something special, daring to confess to our Xiao Ya. It’s so gross!” Zhenzhen said.
Hu Mengmeng, standing at the corner, looked pale, her gaze fixed on Lin Yunya’s direction.
“I hope I don’t run into her again in the future. Here, this gift is for you two,” Lin Yunya said without refuting the other two girls’ words, simply stuffing the gift box into Zhenzhen’s and the girl named Xiao Lian’s hands.
“I don’t want it. Oh, look, Hu Mengmeng even gave Xiao Ya a greeting card. How old-fashioned. Let me read it to you,” Xiao Lian said, taking Hu Mengmeng’s gift from Lin Yunya and pulling out the card, her face full of mockery.
“Dear Xiao Ya, from the moment I saw you, you have been the angel in my heart. You are so beautiful and so kind. I still remember when we were little… Huh? Did they know each other when they were little?” Xiao Lian read, becoming somewhat puzzled towards the end.
“Ugh, stop reading. It’s giving me goosebumps. If you don’t want the gift, just throw it away,” Lin Yunya said, frowning and waving her hand.
The other two girls burst into laughter, and Zhenzhen threw the gift box into the trash can.
Hu Mengmeng, still at the corner, felt her pale face flush red again. Tears welled up in her eyes, her girlish heart completely shattered.
She moved her plump body and walked away, crying as she headed outside.
“Woah, Hu Mengmeng, you didn’t go upstairs!” Zhenzhen exclaimed in surprise when she saw Hu Mengmeng appear, a flash of awkwardness crossing her face before she simply stopped trying to hide it.
Lin Yunya glanced at Hu Mengmeng, her eyes flickered, but she didn’t pay much attention. She saw the elevator going up and stopping at the 18th floor, which made her unconsciously clench her hands, looking somewhat nervous.
Hu Mengmeng walked out crying. Even though it was raining heavily, she seemed not to feel it, crying as she walked, her sobs growing louder and louder, blending into the rain.
Inside the lobby, the elevator stopped at the 18th floor, then went down floor by floor, finally stopping at the 1st floor. The elevator doors opened, and a woman in her thirties or forties, wearing a Chinese-style brown-red embroidered cheongsam, walked out first. She carried an antique long box on her back, almost as tall as she was. Behind her was a tall woman in black.
In stark contrast to the gentle and somewhat affluent appearance of the middle-aged woman in front, this woman looked extremely young, wearing a tailored black jumpsuit with a V-neck that revealed her fair, slender neck. A belt cinched her waist, accentuating her slender figure, thin waist, and long legs, making her look like a runway model.
Besides her excellent figure, this woman’s face was also strikingly beautiful. Without any makeup, her features were delicate, as if meticulously sculpted. Her skin was like jade, her eyebrows and eyes were like a painting, and her eyes were particularly captivating. Her pupils were dark and deep, carrying a starlight, like a piece of starry night sky that had been cut out. Just one glance could draw someone’s soul in.
However, her expression was indifferent and aloof, devoid of any warmth, noble and cold, making her seem unapproachable, someone to be admired from afar but not dared to befriend.
Lin Yunya’s expression became uneasy, looking very excited. This was the goddess she had always admired, Ye Xinyu, the eldest daughter and head of the Ye family in Fengcheng!
Lin Yunya clenched her hands and took a few steps forward, wanting to greet Ye Xinyu, but was stopped by the gentle-looking middle-aged woman who held out her hand.
“Sister Ye…” Lin Yunya called out to Ye Xinyu, her voice trembling slightly. Ye Xinyu’s gaze didn’t linger on her for even a moment as she quickly walked past.
“Sorry!” the middle-aged woman said, following after Ye Xinyu.
A black car was parked outside. Ye Xinyu and the middle-aged woman got into the car together.
Lin Yunya bit her lip, looking somewhat disappointed.
“Miss Ye is a very busy person and must have urgent matters. Xiao Ya, don’t worry. Once you get to university, you’ll be able to see Miss Ye often. She’s also at Fengcheng University,” Zhenzhen said, tactfully comforting Lin Yunya.
“I know,” Lin Yunya murmured, watching the black car drive away.
On the other side, inside the car, Ye Xinyu sat down and fastened her seatbelt. A look of fatigue appeared on her face. She leaned back against the seat for only a second or two before straightening up, her gaze fixed, her delicate eyebrows furrowing.
“Xinyu, what’s wrong? Did you find that thing?” the middle-aged woman asked, a hint of fear in her eyes.
“No, it’s something else, the feeling isn’t very clear,” Ye Xinyu said.
“Xinyu, you were just too tired. Rest first. If it’s not that thing, don’t worry about it for now. Rainy days are always full of strange things anyway,” the middle-aged woman said, seemingly relieved, as she handed Ye Xinyu a glass of water.
Ye Xinyu took the water, looked in one direction, took a sip, and as the car turned a corner, she closed her eyes and leaned back against the seat.
In the direction Ye Xinyu had looked, behind a French parasol tree, Hu Mengmeng was lying there crying.
She had tripped while walking, the ground was slippery, and she couldn’t get up for a while, so she just lay there and continued to cry.
At this moment, something strange was happening to her. The skirt on her back inexplicably bulged out, growing larger and larger. On her short hair, it was as if something was sprouting and growing, with furry red tips emerging, soft and fluffy. In a short while, they grew to the size of palms, shaped like ears, as if she were wearing animal ear headbands.
Hu Mengmeng was completely unaware of this.
The rain was pouring down, and no one noticed her. Only an orange cat sleeping under a car twitched its ears and looked in Hu Mengmeng’s direction, a look of terror in its eyes. With a whoosh, it left its comfortable spot and fled into the rain.
A few minutes later, someone wearing a blue raincoat and riding a small pink electric scooter came and parked. They took out their phone, looked at it, and searched the surroundings based on the location on the phone, finally spotting Hu Mengmeng.
The person was stunned by Hu Mengmeng’s appearance for a moment, then quickly took off their raincoat and covered Hu Mengmeng’s head and body. Ignoring the fact that they were getting soaked, they helped Hu Mengmeng up.
“Mom…” Hu Mengmeng saw the person and whimpered, calling out. The person was none other than Hu Mengmeng’s mother, Su Mingli.
“Let’s go home first!” Su Mingli said, patting Hu Mengmeng, her expression somewhat serious.
Hu Mengmeng was crying with snot and tears streaming down her face. Seeing Su Mingli made her feel even more wronged. Seeing her own mother getting completely soaked while giving her the raincoat made her even more touched. She held up the raincoat, wanting to share it with Su Mingli.
“Don’t move!” Su Mingli stopped Hu Mengmeng’s action, wrapping her up tightly in the raincoat, pulling her to the back seat of the small electric scooter, and then riding off.
Hu Mengmeng hugged Su Mingli and continued to cry, not only because of the earlier heartbreak but also moved by her mother’s love. Only Mom is good in this world!
Half an hour later, they entered an old residential area. Su Mingli parked the scooter under a shed and pulled Hu Mengmeng towards a building.
“Don’t move, we’ll undo it when we get back!” Su Mingli said to Hu Mengmeng as they entered the building. Hu Mengmeng was still crying and hiccuping with sobs. Sensing her mother’s unusual expression, she didn’t dare to disobey and followed her up to the 3rd floor. Su Mingli opened the door to one of the apartments, and they both went inside.
Su Mingli closed the door, turned around, and unwrapped the raincoat from Hu Mengmeng. Seeing that Hu Mengmeng’s earlier animal ears had disappeared and the bulge on her backside was gone, her expression softened slightly.
Su Mingli sighed, walked to the living room, and sat down in a daze. Hu Mengmeng followed and sat down with her.
“Mom, today they all said I was ugly! Xiao Ya even said she didn’t want to see me again! She was lying when she said I was ‘chubbily cute’. Were you and Tao Tao also lying to me when you said I was good-looking? Waaah…” Tears flowed freely from Hu Mengmeng’s eyes as she sobbed to her mother.
“Mengmeng, I have something to tell you,” Su Mingli said, as if she and Hu Mengmeng were on different wavelengths. After spacing out for a while, she turned to Hu Mengmeng.
“What is it?” Hu Mengmeng asked, sniffing.
“I originally wanted to tell you on your 18th birthday, but I didn’t expect it to be earlier,” Su Mingli said, looking at Hu Mengmeng with a complex expression.
“Mom, what exactly is it?” Hu Mengmeng asked, puzzled.
“Listen carefully, your other mother is a fox spirit, and the suppressed fox spirit bloodline in you can no longer be concealed,” Su Mingli said with a sigh.
“Mom, are you kidding me?” Hu Mengmeng asked, her tears stopping in disbelief.
“In the coming year, your fox spirit bloodline will gradually merge with your own bloodline, and you will become increasingly beautiful,” Su Mingli said.
