Marrying My Ex-Wife's Mortal Enemy (GL) - Chapter 2
In the private room, Chu Li played a few more rounds of games with her friends. But she was clearly distracted tonight and kept losing, ending up drinking quite a bit because of Zhang Yi and the others.
The light perfectly illuminated her face, bringing out a subtle blush on her cheeks.
She usually wore light makeup and had sharp features that often made her look cold and aloof. But right now, with that hint of color and the soft lighting, she looked stunning. She looked dangerously beautiful in a way that made hearts race.
Tong Yi sat off to the side, watching her. She couldn’t stop thinking about that kiss earlier—so sudden, so thrilling—and the way Chu Li had completely brushed off Dou Huan. Her heart thudded uncontrollably.
Chu Li must still have feelings for her, right?
Otherwise, why would she kiss her in front of her own wife and not even bother going after her when she left in anger?
Tong Yi didn’t know much about Dou Huan, only that she was supposedly a spoiled rich girl, and from what she just saw, that seemed about right.
Chu Li never liked that type. She preferred sweet, obedient girls. The ones who would cling to her, acting all soft and cuddly in her arms.
Chu Li lost another round. Just as she reached for her drink, Tong Yi stopped her. “Don’t drink anymore.”
Chu Li glanced at the hand that caught hers. They were long, slender fingers and pale like scallion whites. Then her eyes shifted to Tong Yi’s lovely, worried face. Her lips curved into a faint smile. “Since when do you get to tell me what to do?”
The dim, hazy lights only made Chu Li’s sharp features more captivating. Tong Yi’s heart skipped a beat. She knew she had overstepped, so she quickly pulled her hand back.
But in the very next moment, her hand was caught and held again. Chu Li’s fingers were warm and firm around hers, her thumb gently stroking the back of Tong Yi’s hand, sending flutters through her chest.
Tong Yi tried to pull her hand away again but failed. Her voice turned soft and almost pleading. “Chu Li, let go of my hand.”
“No,” Chu Li replied with a smile that’s unreadable as she stared at her.
Zhang Yi saw the way they looked at each other and couldn’t help teasing. “Ooooh, what’s going on here?”
The others joined in, all with that knowing “we see what’s up” expression, which made Tong Yi flush with embarrassment. She yanked her hand free and got up to leave the room.
Chu Li pointed a finger at the group. “Seriously? You guys are unbelievable.”
“Just messing with you,” Zhang Yi laughed. “You’re not going after her?”
“Why should I?” Chu Li leaned back on the sofa, picked up a slim lady’s cigarette from the table, lit it, took a slow drag, and exhaled lazily. “She’ll come back on her own.”
Zhang Yi didn’t argue. Chu Li always had a ridiculous charm with women. Back in college, half the girls were crazy about her.
Even Tong Yi hadn’t been able to resist her.
Tong Yi used to be the school goddess in their class—beautiful, top of the year, and famously unattainable. Tons of guys chased after her and failed. Yet somehow, Chu Li had won her over. They eventually drifted apart due to work, but when they crossed paths again, Zhang Yi had assumed they would get back together.
On the other hand, no one expected Chu Li to suddenly marry Dou Huan, the temperamental rich girl.
Not that just anyone could get Dou Huan either, but who knew what tricks Chu Li used to get her to marry her?
What was even more surprising was that Tong Yi didn’t flip out. She and Chu Li still stayed close as “friends.”
Friends, sure. But anyone who had seen the looks they gave to each other would know that there were definitely lingering feelings there.
Tang Xin, one of Chu Li’s friends, leaned back on the sofa, lazily eating fruit and shaking her head. “In our circle, the one person I actually admire is Chu Li. It’s like she’s got some kind of magic, and girls just fall for her like they’re under a spell.”
Chu Li gave a faint smile. “It’s not like I ask them to. They just fall on their own.”
Tang Xin snorted. “Wow, must be nice—stealing hearts and acting like it’s nothing.”
The group burst into laughter and made a toast again.
Zhang Yi leaned in, lowering her voice. “Hey, Dou Huan’s got such a fiery temper—I’ve always wondered what she’s like in bed.”
Chu Li’s eyes twinkled mischievously as she gently pushed Zhang Yi away, pretending to keep it mysterious.
Zhang Yi immediately got the hint. She let out a few tsk-tsks, gave her a thumbs-up, and teased, “Lucky I like men, otherwise I’d be completely wrecked by you—devoured down to the last crumb.”
Truth was, Chu Li had no idea what Dou Huan was like in bed. Since they got married, she had found every excuse to avoid sleeping with her.
Dou Huan was pretty, sure, but way too aggressive for her. Not Chu Li’s type at all.
She didn’t feel any desire toward her—she just treated her like a little sister, coaxing her along. At the right time, she planned to end things with Dou Huan in a clean divorce.
But of course, that wasn’t something she could say out loud.
Realizing Dou Huan had been gone a while, Chu Li got up. “I’m going to go find Huanhuan.”
Tang Xin smirked. “Are you sure you’re going to find Huanhuan and not Yiyi?”
Chu Li just smiled and let them guess.

Dou Huan followed Jing Yu into the restroom. The moment she caught sight of herself in the mirror, she let out a shriek and slapped her hands over her face.
Oh my god. Was this how she looked when she tried to act sweet in front of Jing Yu?
She mentally replayed the scene and nearly gagged on the secondhand embarrassment.
Jing Yu glanced over at her, watching her clutch her own arms and tremble like she was having a mental breakdown. She rolled her eyes and turned to leave.
Snapping out of it, Dou Huan rushed to grab her arm. “Don’t go—wait for me.”
Jing Yu’s gaze darkened slightly as she looked at the hand gripping her. “Don’t push your luck.”
“Jing-jie,” Dou Huan gave her arm a little shake, her voice soft and pleading, “please wait for me~”
She instinctively made a pitiful face but then remembered how awful her makeup looked right now and froze. Still, a sad puppy look always worked when begging, right?
So she forced herself back into it.
Jing Yu raised a brow. “Miss Dou, you really are full of surprises.”
“Huh?”
“You even took time out of your schedule to study *Sichuan opera?” (*Used when someone’s expression changes, like from happy to sad or angry, like the Sichuan face-changing opera)
“What???”
What was she talking about?
“I didn’t—” Dou Huan blurted out a response but then realized what Jing Yu meant.
Jing Yu was calling her two-faced. Quick to change expressions. A hot temper that couldn’t be tamed. That realization sent her temper spiking.
“You weren’t going to the bathroom?”
“I’ll give you three minutes,” Jing Yu said with a glance, looking cold as ever.
Dou Huan swallowed her anger and rushed into a stall. “I’ll be quick!”
As she disappeared behind the door, Jing Yu’s lips curved upward, but she quickly suppressed the smile.
When Dou Huan finished, she called out, “Jing-jie? You still there?”
No answer.
She pushed the door open, a bit flustered, not noticing the small step at the exit.
Her heel wobbled, and she lost her balance, letting out a yelp as she stumbled forward.
Jing Yu caught her just in time.
But the impact sent them both crashing into the wall with a dull thud.
Jing Yu winced from the pain, sucking in a breath.
Dou Huan looked up at her, seeing that she looked like she was two seconds away from punching her. She shrank back, all wide-eyed and innocent.
“What are you two doing?”
Both women turned toward the voice.
Chu Li stood at the entrance to the restroom, her face dark as she looked at them.
