Love gu.
Perhaps if this love gu remained unresolved, she and Luo Jiu could stay together in this manner indefinitely, meeting every seven days. Eventually, Luo Jiu would accept her, allowing Shang Qianye to stand openly by her side…
The moment this thought surfaced, Shang Qianye rejected it.
She couldn’t do that.
As long as the love gu remained unresolved, it posed a hidden danger.
Shang Qianye wasn’t afraid of death, but if she died because of the love gu, Luo Jiu would also suffer severe injuries. She couldn’t bear to see Luo Jiu in pain, so the love gu had to be resolved.
But at least… at least until the love gu was resolved, she and Luo Jiu…
“What are you doing just standing there?”
Lost in her thoughts, Shang Qianye hadn’t noticed Luo Jiu had finished casting her spell. Now, Luo Jiu stepped out of the formation, standing before Shang Qianye and staring at her in confusion. “It’s so late. Why aren’t you resting? What brings you here again?”
“Master,” Shang Qianye finally remembered her purpose. She lifted the lotus lantern in her hand and showed it to Luo Jiu.
“There’s a lantern festival at the foot of the mountain today,” Shang Qianye said to Luo Jiu. “It’s incredibly lively. I thought this lotus lantern was particularly beautiful, so I bought it for you.”
Luo Jiu glanced down at the lotus lantern. The wick hadn’t burned out yet, casting a gentle, warm glow that made it seem especially lovely.
“You bought this childish trinket?” Luo Jiu said, feigning disdain as she accepted the lantern from Shang Qianye and walked past her. “Besides the lantern, what else did you get?”
Shang Qianye’s eyes lit up instantly. She followed Luo Jiu back to her room, chattering excitedly. “I bought so many fun little things! I’ll show them all to Master later.”
Shang Qianye eagerly displayed her purchases one by one. Luo Jiu glanced at the lotus lantern, then kept the peculiar wooden fish-shaped instrument while telling Shang Qianye to take the rest.
Before leaving, Luo Jiu leaned back lazily in her chair, idly fiddling with the lotus lantern’s petals. “Come early tomorrow,” she said. “I’ve arranged for the library to send over some more scrolls.”
Shang Qianye understood this was an assignment.
“Yes, Master,” she replied promptly.
For the next few days, Shang Qianye spent almost the entire day in the Jade Court Forest, poring over bamboo slips. There were numerous volumes on Witchcraft and Gu Techniques, each of which she meticulously studied, marking them for Luo Jiu to review later.
Though the days were monotonous, they were also peaceful.
Until that day.
Shang Qianye was sitting at a low table, surrounded by stacks of bamboo slips—some she had already read, others she hadn’t yet touched, all piled high.
Suddenly, a voice echoed in her mind.
It’s been days, and you’re still reading these dull, tedious books?
Shang Qianye froze, startled.
Counting the days, she realized it was indeed the seventh day.
No wonder she had felt dizzy and her eyes had been aching since morning, making it difficult to focus on her reading. The love gu was about to flare up again.
Look at that woman, dumping all the books on you while she relaxes in comfort.
The Heart Demon in her mind continued its nonsensical chatter. Shang Qianye tried to ignore it, picking up a bamboo slip and resuming her reading, determined to finish this volume before telling Luo Jiu.
Still reading? Still reading?!
You’ve been reading this for days. Have you found anything useful?
If you ask me, Qin Wangyue was right. Haven’t you always wanted to get closer to Luo Jiu? As long as the love gu remains unresolved, you can use it as an excuse to be intimate with her.
It’s been seven days already. Don’t you miss her?
Have you forgotten how she cried beneath you seven days ago?
Shang Qianye couldn’t focus anymore. She set down the scroll, rubbed her temples, and felt a suffocating tightness in her chest. The voice in her head was becoming unbearable.
Look up, the Heart Demon suddenly commanded. See how beautiful Luo Jiu looks, sitting at her desk, writing so diligently?
Shang Qianye knew she shouldn’t listen to the Heart Demon, but she involuntarily raised her head and glanced at Luo Jiu, who was sitting nearby.
Today, Luo Jiu wore a long white dress. She sat upright, holding a slender brush, sketching symbols on talisman paper. The vermilion ink flowed smoothly across the yellow paper, making Shang Qianye’s breath quicken.
Imagine Luo Jiu lying on her desk, her legs wrapped around your waist. Wouldn’t that be thrilling?
The image flashed through Shang Qianye’s mind: Luo Jiu, her clothes disheveled, lying back on the desk. Shang Qianye untied her robes and used the cinnabar brush to trace patterns across her chest. Luo Jiu’s brow furrowed slightly, her crimson lips pressed tightly together, her entire body trembling.
See? You crave this too.
If you want it, take it.
Seize the moment while Luo Jiu is off guard. Do what you desire. Her expression—a mix of shock and fear—will be exquisite…
As if possessed, Shang Qianye set down the scroll and rose to approach Luo Jiu.
At that moment, Luo Jiu remained oblivious. She had just finished drawing a talisman and gently lifted it, blowing on the still-wet cinnabar ink. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Shang Qianye approaching.
She looked up in confusion, her gaze colliding with those crimson eyes.
Her heart clenched.
“Qianye, you…”
Before Luo Jiu could react, Shang Qianye swept most of the items off the desk with a flick of her hand, then lifted Luo Jiu and placed her on the desk. In an instant, warm lips pressed down on hers.
“Mmm…!”
Luo Jiu was pressed against the desk, her waist supported by Shang Qianye’s hand. Vermilion brushes and yellow paper scattered across the surface, covering it entirely.
Shang Qianye gripped Luo Jiu’s wrist, lowering her head to deepen the kiss. Her tongue swept through Luo Jiu’s mouth with brazen abandon. Luo Jiu tried to speak, to spit out the intruding tongue, but was met with an even more ferocious kiss.
Their breaths grew hot and ragged. Shang Qianye’s hands began to unfasten Luo Jiu’s robes with a force that threatened to tear the fabric.
Furious, Luo Jiu raised her foot to kick Shang Qianye, but the other woman seized the opportunity to wedge herself between Luo Jiu and the desk, pressing their bodies together with suffocating closeness.
“Shang Qianye, what nonsense are you spouting?!” Luo Jiu finally managed to gasp out, finding a sliver of space to breathe. She raised her hand to slap Shang Qianye, but her wrist was caught mid-swing.
“Does Master want to hit me?” Shang Qianye’s eyes were bloodshot, yet a sinister smile curled her lips, making her look like a vengeful ghost crawled straight from hell.
Shang Qianye seized Luo Jiu’s hand, pressed it to her lips, and kissed it softly. “Master can hit me if she wishes,” she murmured, “but after she’s done, I’m going to fvck her right here on this desk.”
Luo Jiu’s eyes widened in disbelief. How… how dare she utter such blasphemous words?!
Shang Qianye kissed Luo Jiu’s five fingers. When she realized Luo Jiu wasn’t going to strike her, Shang Qianye pressed her palm against Luo Jiu’s, blinking innocently like a puppy. “Master won’t hit me?” she asked. “But if you don’t, I’ll just take you right here.”
Luo Jiu’s face paled with fury. She desperately wanted to slap Shang Qianye.
But Luo Jiu knew this wasn’t Shang Qianye’s true nature; it was merely the love gu acting up.
Damn it!
I should have let her die out there!
Luo Jiu’s anger burned in her chest, yet she managed to say, “If you dare touch me here, I’ll break your legs.”
Shang Qianye recognized the threat in Luo Jiu’s words and smiled.
“Master’s angry.”
Her eyes curved into crescents as she smiled, her crimson eyes narrowing into slits. She leaned down and kissed Luo Jiu’s lips.
“If Master doesn’t want to do it here, we’ll wait for next time.” Shang Qianye pulled Luo Jiu up and, with a swift motion, lifted her by the hips into her arms. She stepped over the scattered books and strode out of the study.
Luo Jiu, clinging to Shang Qianye’s shoulder, knew exactly where she was being taken. Gritting her teeth, she bit down hard on Shang Qianye’s shoulder.
“Hiss—”
Shang Qianye winced in pain, but her smile only widened. She squeezed the woman in her arms, continuing toward the bedroom. “Master’s bites are so painful,” she said. “I wonder if you’ll still be able to bite me like this later.”
Shang Qianye was the first to wake.
When she opened her eyes, the sky was completely dark. She had no idea what time it was or how long they had been asleep.
The person in her arms, Luo Jiu, was breathing steadily with her back turned. It took Shang Qianye a moment to realize she was lying in bed, holding Luo Jiu. A faint scent of ink drifted from Luo Jiu’s skin—a distinctive fragrance typically used for drawing talismans.
Why would this particular ink scent be present in Luo Jiu’s bedroom?
Shang Qianye’s head throbbed as memories gradually resurfaced.
She remembered carrying Luo Jiu into the room and tearing off her clothes.
She remembered Luo Jiu collapsing in exhaustion after their first encounter, while Shang Qianye’s love gu remained active—deliberately left unresolved so she could continue their intimacy.
What had she done after that?
Oh, right. She had found a calligraphy brush, dipped it in crimson cinnabar ink, and meticulously painted Luo Jiu’s body.
She recalled drawing extensively on Luo Jiu’s soft skin, pinning her down when she tried to escape, and eventually praising her with delight.
Shang Qianye: “!!!”
I’m done for.
This time, I’ll definitely be expelled from the Shimen!
